I cried at this part more though I did start to notice no one responded to him when he said something. The few times he came down to see us . Then I was thinking it’s was his spirit guiding rook .
It was a fun story and experience. It had it's flaws but still... Solavellan ending is what i needed, though my heart still can't let them go, i need time to heal... Thank you for your play through!
I also didnt notice that nobody directly interracted with Varric during my playthrough) Really good work they did there, firstly they made you think that he died in the beggining, then that he was injured but ok, but in the end - Varric was dead all that time. Really good and unexpected turn of events, good gaslighting from Bioware
I disagree. It was really sloppy. You’re telling me nobody in the group mentioned Varric at all? Rook never said anything to Harding while Varric was chilling in the infirmary? Nothing like hey, did you see Varric today? And Harding and Neve are never going to bring up Varric and Solas killing him? Really? It was heavily contrived writing. And then throw in another plot hole/ where is his body? Did they leave him there? Bury him? Dump him over the edge of the Lighthouse cliff? Was he vaporized in the ritual or worse case: blight food when Ghilain’nain passed through? It was a Sixth Sense plot twist and it didn’t work because of too many moving parts. It worked for the movie because the main characters were isolated and all dialogue done in a clever ambiguous way where it would work the first viewing and have more context the second. DAV writers lack the skill to pull it off.
@@maiafay I’m not sure if you’re so wrong here because you didn’t play the game or if you just really lack observational skills and simple memory. Everything you mentioned about other characters does happen. People mention Varric, Harding and Neve both talk about him like he’s dead. The language is just vague so the viewer can write it off as them referring to the injury. Your very first companion dialogue scene with Harding is her alone in her room crying. Neve literally says “and Varric paid the price.” Other companions clearly are talking about Varric as if they’ve never met him. Bellara literally uses his full name as if she’s never met him and he’s just a famous author she knows about. As for the body, that’s just sounding like you’re looking for plot holes where there aren’t any. Rook was severely injured and knocked out for days. Use your imagination for what the other 2 companions did to the body and pick whichever makes you happy. Bottom line is it doesn’t really matter. They had a dead, decaying corpse and clearly did something to it or left it behind in arlathan. Just because rook didn’t witness it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. That would defeat the purpose of the whole twist.
@@Xsorus I swear some people are either just looking for reasons to hate the game, never played the game, or are just genuinely low IQ. Like all these gamers who complain about “bad writing” when they haven’t read a book in their life lmao.
@@BBS-dl1ltBallara mentions that she never met varric after it was revealed that he is dead. Plus we meet Isabella and she has not one word about Varric. They definitely could have handled the twist better, like have varric actually leave his room. Rook talking to varric and someone asks who were you talking to.
The last game that left me so impacted by an ending full of plot twists and had me crying like a fool was Bioshock Infinite a long, long time ago. This Act 3 of Veilguard is pure cinema!
Imagine how much better this ending could've been if they treated it like the fourth game in a series and had choices come into play, like the sentient darkspawn from awakening, hawke and their sibling, the hof and the inquisitor all showing up in a massive final battle while you pull a small group to save the day
Bioware learned nothing with Andromeda. Those cliffhangers dont work, the game flops and they dont explain shit. This post-credit scene its an afront to the series. When i saw this lost myself. This is fucked up.
There's no way I was trading Harding for a new sidekick and his pet. Losing Lace and Varric ("why is he always back here by himself?") both would have been far too too much to bear. Lace deserves to retire to a quiet cottage with Rook at the end of my story. Though I am rather peeved they had Assan just off himself over Davrin's death in my version. Thanks to Mythal, I got the good ending even though my Lavellan never romanced that bastard friend killer/mind rapist Solas.
I almost had the alternative view, though Harding wasn't my romance, it felt like a true close to the story in this chapter for Varric and Harding to be the ones lost.
Rofl.... Imagine being a Grey Warden Warrior and me choosing Davrin thinking my buddy has got this only to watch his ass die..... I almost restarted the whole mission but decided against it.
I didnt figure it out until the varric scene happen. Such a plot twist. It wasn't until after I realize no one ever interacted with varric or talk to him when rook was around him. Whatever conversation rook was having with varric would stop when one of your companions would enter. They did really well to throw us off from varric IMO. I ugly cried lol.
I think the post credits scene could work if they take the writing from the final act and make sure it’s consistent across a whole game - also they clarified in an article today the intentional word usage of “guided.” I think the main reason it’s not hitting with the rest of the fanbase is that it will take awhile for the final installment so there’s a wide array of interpretations as to what it could mean 🤷🏻♂️
Man, hate around this game can be suffocating sometimes, every single video is generally full of comments that must point out how bad one or the other aspect of the game is. I get it, I do not like it that much personally, however, the ending was good, no two ways about it, yes the rest of the game is underwhelming at best and outright offensive at worst, but still this ending, end to story of two games, is done well, choices you make have impact, and it's a more epic version of ME2 ending sequence, it's a same concept done in a more epic way.
I didn't like how they handled Varric. Harding would have for sure brought up Varric's death and they would have had a funeral for him. They tried to cheap out with some b.s. dialogue about everyone knowing except you.
Varric and Bianca this was the clearest message to Old Players. It was the bait. I couldnt play the game fir days because i got spoiled even befor it started.. Dragon Age is for new players now. I still am not done because i insist to have the solavelan ending, that much they deserve. But the hold Bioware had over me for years is broken. This was the last Dragon Age game for me. Veilquard is beautyfull but i am Free
Just finished it and the ending, while being the best part of the whole game, made me even more dissapointed in Veilguard. Potential was enourmous and you can see glimpses of it at the very last mission but ending alone can't carry an overall extremely mediocre game
It was a good experience because of the steamer. Always a joy and pleasure...but the game was not it. The last segment's swelling moments did not cover the rest of the game. It only showed that it was relying heavily on returning characters, and hinted at something we could have gotten: a game that truly referenced the player's choices in the previous game. Personally, the game and fighting style is not for me. It's too busy and button smashy, but I totally understand those who do enjoy it. However, no matter what the characters, plot, and writing really dropped the ball and I'm personally saddened that Han Zimmer and the director tried to make the end this big climatic moment as if they earned the sadness they tried to pull. It didn't earn it for me.
The final scenes were a lot of trevor morris' work though, that was mixed and edited about. It wasn't zimmer's. Especially the lost elf and inquisiton bits of course
@@x_rhi_x2772hans zimmer is the recurring theme through this whole game. Not sure why they’re making it sound like it only played at the end lol. Especially when the ending this streamer opted for is the one that uses Trevor morris music lol.
I disagree. While Varrics death and Solas resolution are a big emotional hit, the death of your companion and the stakes in a suicide mission are complemented with the bond with your companions. The only previous character that actually moved the story forward is Solas as one of the Gods and he is imprisioned for 95 per cent of the game. The third act feels earned, but well different opinions i guess.
@@juniorld6141 It completely depends if you ended up liking the companions or not, which I did not.
