Brilliant series Steve. For some reason I watched up to number 10 as I was thinking of buying a discovery 3 years ago. I cringed at the repair struggles and at that point didn't buy one. I have just finished watching the last 5 3 years later and wondered at all the costs and hours to complete. Obviously you may not want to share and everyone would understand. Very impressed with all the content. I can hear Vera from LR Time saying o my god, o my god for not using the torque wrench.
I forget the cost, it wasn't cheap. Time wise I was on and off it for weeks, maybe a couple of months I can't remember. I use a torque wrench on critical stuff. The rest, well been doing for so long you get a feel for it.

Very, very impressed! Had Land-rovers all my life going right back to the Defender 90 turbo. Got exactly this model L320 and love it to bits Same age with 107k miles. Why they are so complicated now, and why LR saw fit to make the to make them so, I’ll never know. But the fact remains that she is probably the best car I have had and will ever have. She’s just cracked the RH inlet manifold and fortunately there are guys like you who can fix it properly with charging LR dealer prices. Watching you and the likes of It’s LR Time gives me confidence to keep her for years to come as yet. Thanks for making such a great series and all the best to you.

Another great video-series from you. Thanks alot. I'm in the middle of rebuilding the bottom of a 2.7TDV6 (276dt) myself (fitting a new crank). Currently in the process of sourcing out parts. So much to remember (seals, bolts, tools etc..). Do you have any tip on where to buy parts? ebay seems obvious, but would prefer to buy as much as possible from one place (not living in the UK makes freight sometimes a nightmare). Also, maybe a tip on a shopping list of the essential parts needed? Thanks
Great series, always had Mercs and fancy a range rover vogue. Been told to stay away from the V6 and get the V8. Are all V6 engines a risk, what can you do to check to see if it’s a car to walk away from.
Not a lot you can do really, most don't fail at all but a fair few do and they go without warning. One check you can do is start it from cold and check for a timing chain rattle that will disappear within a few seconds, that will tell you that the oil has drained back and it's being starved of oil on cold starts. Make sure it's got good service history.
I’ve really enjoyed watching these videos. I have an XF with the same engine so it’s also been a learning curve to see what’s hidden away in the minuscule engine bay I have! Whereabouts are you based? Are you able to take some work on?
Well done lads, great work, how long did it take ? And now comes the hardest part, payment😂 😉 but worth every penny, that was an absolutely brilliant job 👍

Hi there new too your channel loved the range rover engine build ,just a question for you ,what would you say is the better engine the range rover /jaguar v6 or the vw toureg v6 ,Ian
Forgot to ask on an earlier part where you primed the oil pump through the centre feed of the oil filter. Would you recommend to fill that gallery when doing a oil & filter change?
You wont need to do that on an oil change as oil will still be in there. I did it on this because the engine was dry and a dry oil pump wont suck the oil up.
Enjoyed this immensity, I like the Range Rover, but this V6 seems plagued with problems, but it should be good engine, I cant imagine why the engine designers got it so wrong, from the flimsy webs on the crank, to the oil filter being mounted at the top of the engine,is the V8 diesel a better option?.
It's a big job and not nice to do. It's about a days work if all goes well and the nuts & bolts come out of the manifolds which they probably wont if it's old and high mileage. If the bolts snap then it may well go over your quoted price.

Hope you don't mind me asking. My dad has one of these. how do you check oil as there is no dip stick. Apparently the sensor can be very unreliable. But unnerving being uncertain of actual oil level.
Any sensor can be unreliable, personally I've never had any experience of a faulty oil level sensor. To check it, the engine needs to be off and left for about 20 mins. Turn ignition on but don't start the engine, use the buttons on the steering wheel to get to the service menu and the level display will be in there. No, none at all. If it all goes back properly then there will be no faults.
