    Another little handy trick with brake fluid to stop it leaking, just Jack up the car and push back brake caliper pistons (front 2 should do) the press brake pedal to the floor and lock it down with a dead leg tool or prybar , then you can disconnect the pipes and you will lose feck fluid ! Did this with my mate sport when removing body and with it parked on the lift for about a week there wasn’t one drip of fluid on the floor ......!

    • @pistonbroke
      @pistonbroke  3 роки тому +2

      Yes I know but it's easier to get the body back on with that out of the way. Also there is a pipe that gets caught next to the radiator when lifting the body and with the rad support on its harder to get to.

    Great video your legend , I’m very passionate about Range Rover as I I own one a same one,very detailed video and knowledgeable, I’m looking fwd to watch part 2 . Mine has driver side turbo issue can you please advise or make a video if the turbo can be replaced without taking the body off ? It would be appreciated and there are not many videos of tdv6 3.0 turbo replacement as this is a common issue with these , I know few garages replace turbos without taking the body off but don’t know how as there is not much space to get access to the turbo . Thank you

    • @pistonbroke

      Yes you can do a turbo with the body on, it's tight and fiddly but it is possible. I can only film what comes in so if I don't get a turbo to do then I can't film it. I can't really explain how to do it in the comment section either as it's quite involved.

    Hi mate,
    I have been following your videos absolutely brilliant work mate, love it.
    I have bought a Discovery 4 from auction, non runner when bought with injectors removed and placed in a box and left in boot. I have managed to clean them and put it together, then found no fuel pressure so removed the tank and checked the pump it's working with direct power supply, apparently fuel pump relay gone so replaced that and low fuel pump started working and engine started but vehicle shaking (not excessively) which I thought injectors obviously, however there is smoke coming from left side (as you refer to) from around Injector 6 through, when acceleration the smoke is building up. Smoke seems to be very minor from right side as well. I have replaced one of the Injector and seems like another one or 2 is bad so hoping to replace those two. Tested all glow plugs all working perfectly fine. It's the smoke that worries me more than anything I wonder where it's from as can't reach to the side unless lift the body apart. No smoke from silencers at all. From your experience can you give some advice or tips please. Much appreciated.

      They are the same engine pretty much except the block is slightly different in the peugeots and citroens. Regardless of power output, the crankshafts on all these engines are weak. I've yet to strip this one to see what is wrong but snapped cranks are common.

      Piston Broke that's unfortunate to hear that the odds are exactly the same, but hey I suppose its what one would call "car lottery". I've heard of low mileage 3.0's failing but also read of a few doing starship mileage without any problems.

      @pistonbroke  4 роки тому

      @@jjbrown396 the tdv6 is a tourquey little engine and brilliant for towing but they've made the engine so short to fit transversely into the fwd cars that the webs on the crank are really thin. Have a look at the disco 4 tdv6 engine rebuild videos on this channel and you'll see the crank.
