  • I decided to make this compact setup because I was getting water in the lines. After I cooled the air through the radiator there was no more water in the tank. This will give you more tank life and remove most of the water from the line. You will have more dry air to work with and your tools will last longer. Rakuten helps you get discounts on many websites its awesome install the link.

    That's a nice, clean install! Just an FYI to guys that are only looking to paint cars, look into a paint turbine instead of the compressor. I went the compressor route just for paint and then later, blasting but wish I got the turbine instead and farmed out the blasting. I'm running a 5hp 60 gallon with a car a/c condenser after-cooler to an aux. 20 gallon tank; 25' copper water trap and only 1 canister moisture/oil trap.

      Wow that sounds like a serious setup. I never intended to paint a car with it I just use mine for small projects. It works perfect and happy I did the setup. Thank you

    That is the cleanest air cooler I have seen online. Very creative and compact nice work. I like how the water separator is below the tank intake. Does it work well?

      Yes it will work with a bigger compressor. If you get something like 40 gallons or more I would suggest to get the bigger cooler. thanks

    Super clean setup. I'm going to attempt something similar with a 20 gal compressor. Did you really paint your Corvette with an 8 gallon compressor? What spray gun did you use? Thanks for the video!

      hello glad I can help. Yes I did paint it with that compressor which is a bit crazy. In this video you can see the paint booth I built inside the garage. I did paint it in pieces once I repaired all the fiberglass damage I put together and removed everything. I painted 4 or 5 things at a time then the next day other parts. It was fun to do it and never had I done a crazy thing like that. Oh I used the Black widow from Harbor Freight. Did lots of research and for the price it was a great gun. I did watch ton of videos like Paint Society they were great for beginners. Their channel was super helpful. Let me know if you have any questions for your setup. I still have all the videos of the vette to process but I have so much footage that I dont even know where to start. Hope it helps thanks here is one of the videos I actually edited and you can see I did the supercharger in the same paint booth. ua-cam.com/video/2B2m6yEmTqQ/v-deo.html

    Hey I have a question on the current draw.
    It says the compressor has a current draw of 13.5 amps. The fan usually has a current draw of 5 amps. Together both have a current draw of 18.5 amps. Doesn't that make the power cord hot? Does it trip the circuit breaker of the power outlet?
    Also, does the cooler cause some kind of back pressure to the compressor because it's a stacked plate cooler? The cooler passages are usually tiny.

    • @ExtremDIY
      @ExtremDIY  Рік тому

      Hello it runs perfect and the breaker is a 20 amp just for that outlet and a bug light that I have in the corner that turns on late at night. The power cord is heavy duty also that comes with it. Over all this setup is solid and works perfect for the water. You can get a bigger compressor and still use this fan to cool the air its small but very powerful. Now if you get something bigger than a 50 I would go up to the next size cooler.

    I reckon you decided on the Derale because of the "side" input/output interface and mounting frame because that allows the water to settle [gravity] as opposed to other coolers [G plus, Hayden, etc].
    Any particular reason you went with the Atomic cool series instead of the Electra cool series? Reason I ask is the Electra cool has a higher CFM fan [650 cfm] than the Atomic [500 cfm].....though the Electra fan has a 5.5 amp draw, so that exceeds the 5 amp limit on your power supply......plus seems to be a bit lighter on the wallet.
    And I realize it's automotive, but it's too bad we can't order a setup with an AC voltage powered fan.
    It's a really solid setup.....I like the idea of drying the air before it goes into the main tank....plus the whole thing is nice & compact....GOOD ON YOU, BRO' !!!

    • @ExtremDIY
      @ExtremDIY  Рік тому +1

      Hello the reason I picked the Atomic was more for the size. I wanted to keep it narrow so it wont stick out of the sides and needed the top inlet and bottom outlet. I think the Electra is wider. As far as the CFM for the Atomic is perfect for my setup and having the 15 row was more than enough for my size compressor and it works so good I love it. Maybe for larger compressors you could go bigger and more cfm but got to say this little one cools the air very well even if you get a bigger one like 20 gallons but no more than that I would say. I havent had any water in the tank since. Thank you you

    what adapters did u use for the water filter?

    • @ExtremDIY
      @ExtremDIY  Рік тому

      hello I used a Homedepot flare nut 1/2 to the compressor cylinder side, 1/2 flare nut with adapter into the dryer in, 1/2 flare nut with adapter out of the dryer, 1/2 flare nut into the tank it already came with a flare fitting. Every dryer is different so you have to know what thread is on it so you can purchase the correct adapter like 1/2 flare to 3/8 thread or 1/2. Try not to get anything with 1/4 fittings you dont want to have any restrictions. If you get that cooler you will need 2 adapters for the cooler to flare. You will need a flare tool. If you dont want to do copper pipe you can use air hose and fittings with barb adaptors. I dont remember the ones for the cooler I went to a hydraulic store and got them for $10. Here are some links they are also on my description. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks

    how did you get the fans to work

    • @ExtremDIY
      @ExtremDIY  Рік тому

      Hello there are several ways to do it. You can wire a 120volt switch to the relay box before the relay so you can turn the fan on and off manually so when the compressor turns off you can still cool the air inside the cooler. You can just plug the 12 volt adapter to the wall outlet directly or you can wire to the compressor side of the relay so it will turn on and off just like the compressor. Let me know if you have any questions. Also share a video when you are done. Thank you
