Dave Dave Dave, you put me to shame with how particular you are. Had to buy the two red hoses so they would match😂 love it. So nice to not be alone with that particular peculiarity.
😂 it was hanging in there though matey seriously hanging on even with the rocks you chucked in it that’s pretty amazing 👌 You have a superb head for sorting stuff Dave nice one 👍
Great idea, re purposing a piece of junk to make something useful out of it. Amazing what things can be used for different purposes. I even used roller door tracks for the frame of my box trailer shed. Never know what junk can be reused for something else.
Interesting solution to a common problem. I put a little valve on the drain of the air compressor and every hour it would go off and drain for 15 seconds not the best solution but it keeps most of the water out of the lines
Dave , that big tank could be dangerous if it has had water in it for long periods of time. I have seen smaller tanks explode and the damage that they can cause is unbelievable and deadly. I am not sure if there is a way that the big tank can be checked to see if it is still safe to use. Just thought that I would mention that.
@@Junkyard_Dave - I'd roll the dice and live with it. I'd find something in the scrapyard you can use to weld a cage around it. If it blows a seam then the cage will catch it and limit any damage.
I have the same blast cabinet, but the glass is blurred by the high speed sand impact, to a degree that I can not see through anymore. Do you have a solution to this problem?
That's what I was thinking, too. The factory probably used soft copper line to form that connection, and somebody used rigid copper line and horses it around to make it bend.
@@budlanctot3060 Yeah and good luck finding one if you need one. I had a Craftsman compressor back when Sears was still big, so I was able to get a replacement. Likely the PO didn’t have a choice but to make his own.
You need to replace your PVC lines before worrying about replacing the compressor. BTW: Why not rebuild the pump on that compressor, or, replace the pump instead of replacing such a costly compressor?

It's a curse lol
I'm using one just like it to increase the volume of my small compressor, and now, I will adapt this system for double duty. Thanks for the idea!!
I had one of the bigger Husky Air Compressors and 25 years later it's still working perfectly.
That tank does nothing but store air you got inline regulators you can still get moisture
I used it to bast a ton more for 2 hrs straight today and the first in one gets water condensation and the second is dry
The whistling diesel of air compressors…
Lolol
BAHAHAHA

Thanks
Great job bro super creative!! My old man had a set up like that for when he painted and it made a huge difference!!
Yeah it's a good thing to have water in paint don't mix
Jeez that husky definitely put up a fight while trying to obliterate itself
As a mechanic I approve of the solution to your compressor of run it till it throws a rod
Good morning Dave

HEY! Good morning Dave and of course thumbs UP! 👍
Thanks 😊
Now this is awesome!
My main non-noise issue with that husky compressor unit was the motor screws backing out and shorting
Could also get an automatic purge valve. Will purge about once an hour for a few seconds to get rid of any water.
Damn, that little husky was a tough son of a gun!
I wish I could find one of those compressors for $25 here where i live.😂
I spy a bare 6g72 block hopefully see that build coming soon!
Yeah I need to hot tank it and start getting it ready
Durability test passed!! I will be buying a husky now 🤣
Something was wrong with it the rocks didn't let me find out what it was though
My 20g husky’s pressure switch stopped working a week after warranty was up. Wont ever buy anything with a husky name on it
Interesting solution to a common problem. I put a little valve on the drain of the air compressor and every hour it would go off and drain for 15 seconds not the best solution but it keeps most of the water out of the lines
Yeah I want to put an auto drain on it but no one local had one
i have that on my 60 gallon Ingersoll, but the compressor still blows water as soon as it heats up.
I live in the south man and this happened every day. We have to purge every compressor multiple times daily
Yeah that's why I stay in the high desert
The double hand slap at 1:42 had me rolling!!!!!!!
😆
There is a relief valve on the bottom of that husky tank to empty condensation. Bet the water is settling in there.

Yeah I have been thinking about that it's probably 50 y3ars old
@@Junkyard_Dave Yes Dave , it could be real rusty inside and weak.. I just do not want you getting hurt. It can devastating when an air tank explodes.
Run a borescope down in there, take a look around

You can test it with a slag hammer point, too. Of course, not with the tank pressurized. That's how they used to test ship hulls in drydock.
I didn't understand the advantage of having the remote tank. Is it just to have something to hang the water separators on closer to your work?
It's like a big watter trap and separator
It does both and gives a mobile air source like he said. Flat tire out in the parking lot etc
The compressor turned and aimed straight for the 240s back glass. I know I'd be replacing it if I had done that.
I’d be interested in what rivnut hun you went with. There’s so many and was wondering how you liked that one. Thank you for sharing.
I'll post the link tonight forgot
Leave a pvc pipe out in the sun for a while then snap it. Expect a similar failure because of pressure cycling.
I have the same blast cabinet, but the glass is blurred by the high speed sand impact, to a degree that I can not see through anymore. Do you have a solution to this problem?
I doubt that line is original, I’ve had lines fracture before on a compressor. Looks like a homemade job to me.
Could be I dont even know how it was holding pressure

No water - more better big times! 🙌
I'd like to see a clear explanation and the schema of what has been done.
So, my question is, with this new set up do you still have water sitting in "old" compressor tank that still needs to be drained?
The old compressor will still have water
@@Junkyard_Dave But the smaller one will n0t, right?
@FJ Bowen it shouldn't because it's already condensated
Correct! He made a portable air tank/expansion tank. This won’t do jack shit for his condensation issue! 🤦🏻♂️
Hahaha love the hulk smash
It didn't want to come off
Lmao you cant break the damn thing when you want to but need that MF in a pinch and the damn head will blow off and hit a 25k paint job 🤣
Dave doesn't your old compressor still build up with water? Thats what I'm trying to keep from happening.
Yes you just need an auto drain, I would put one on both
Damn you throw everything on the floor
Science!
Now we know you have dry air but you didn’t say how
Bro.... If you ever have PVC lines burst from air pressure and impale you with PVC shards you'll never use it again for compressed air... Trust me.
Poor Husky.
What a smart move, you can destroy a working compressor. Very smart.
Add an auto drain....PVC lines Yikes
0:36 that’s what she said
You need to replace your PVC lines before worrying about replacing the compressor. BTW: Why not rebuild the pump on that compressor, or, replace the pump instead of replacing such a costly compressor?
What a waste. Over half of the video is wasted in crap on how to destroy your Husky compressor.
The use of the tank do any seem to make sense. Why didn’t you explain your connections flow and the reason for the tank. Thumbs down for sure
You obviously didn't watch the video
