C'mon man black guitars aren't boring, there is a reason plain black are the most purchased by metal players! (sometimes they just cost more than the other colors in the same model)😂Pretty bold of you to give it such a makeover, turned out nice!
Thanks dude, I’m glad you like it! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I think all black guitars are boring, far from it. I love black guitars that have a little bit of something to them. This one just didn’t do it for me 😂 Now it’s much more my taste!

Nice Video Is it just different feeling or hipshot bridge actually better? I have a Ibanez prestige with Gibraltar 2 bridge, I am considering an upgrade
Thanks dude I’m really glad you enjoyed it! The Gibraltar is a great bridge, I wouldn’t say it’s a needed swap, but the comfort, quality, and mass of the hipshot is a step above in my opinion. I’d definitely recommend it! 🤘
I’ve recently got one of these sounds amazing but definitely gonna upgrade some parts on it such as the hipshot tail piece and hipshot locking tuners and maybe a new nut
About that crack, I had a similar situation with a respray that I did on my old Ibanez Roadstar ll bass. That bass had been modded from the original “Musicman-style” pickup load-out to a “Precision-jazz” load-out and then back to the original set up but with an EMG! The initial mod used a block to fill the hole and was then resprayed with a Rolls Royce paint (metallic - iron grey) that was kicking around a mate’s paint shop. During the respray, the block moved due to a reaction between the glue (used to set the block) and the paint. It stopped moving but the block stood proud. It was such a gorgeous colour that I decided to live with it. The rest is history & it is now white and fretless! It still retains that large EMG soapbar with a stainless steel p’guard to cover up all ‘deformities’! Does the crack follow the line of the neck? If it does, it might be the joint between the pieces of wood used to construct the body??🤨 So Jack, have you ever considered fretless guitar?
Ah interesting! That sounds like a killer bass mate! The crack comes out diagonally from the switch route. The only explanation I can think of is possible shrinkage of the paint or something like that. I dunno, but I can definitely live with it too now it’s stopped growing 😂 I have never touched a fretless guitar! I’d like to try one but I definitely feel like their reserved for people more talented than myself haha Thanks for watching mate 🤘
When I said along the line of the neck, I meant parallel to the line of the neck. I have modified most of my basses in some way or other. I have done a few guitars too and successfully created a couple of parts-casters, but sadly I am not a competent guitar player due to lack of radial twist in my lower left arm. Dude, I enjoy your playing and your apparent honesty. It’s quite refreshing! Your streams are definitely going down the right route and have a very professional feel of a seasoned streamer - keep it up! As for your ability as a “personalising” modder, check out a fellow You Tuber, Tim Woodford of Woodford Instruments, he is the real deal as far as a superb & honest luthier can be. You get the impression that there isn’t anything he can’t fix or repair! Love & peace, Bruv!
Ah I see! No it doesn’t seem to be. It’s a fairly long and curved crack/split that doesn’t seem to follow any real rhyme or reason. That’s cool man, modding your instruments is such a great thing. Putting your own stamp on something is always super satisfying. And I really do appreciate the kind words, it truly means a ton to me. I’m still working all this stuff out so it makes me really happy knowing I’m doing something right, thank you. I recognise the channel name, I’ll have to have a bit of a dive in later. They really are great guitars! Just a personal taste thing and my constant need to customise stuff that drove me to this 😂 If you’re talking about the neck binding, mine was slightly off white too and I believe it’s because of the finish on the neck. Either it aged slightly or wasn’t totally clear in the first place but sanding through it brought my binding back a bit whiter. Cheers for watching 🤘
Fair play repainting a perfectly fine Ibanez. On camera it does look better in Yellow with the black pickguard, you don't notice any of the imperfections you mentioned. Loving the content and production quality. Looking forward to more videos this year :)
Thanks Livesey, it means a lot to me that you check out my stuff and enjoy it! I’m really chuffed with how it turned out. I just vibe with it a bit more now if that makes any sense at all 😂 Thanks again mate, appreciate you dude! 🤘
Nice work, mate! That thing's a beaut now! That thing turned out looking almost like the Bright Yellow version of the guitar I have, the RG331M, apart from the fretboard that is. Ibanez should make more fixed bridge RG with scratch plate/pickguard more often, for ease of modification. I appreciated the fact that 99 percent of the soldering I did on my RG, when I was installing the P-Rails, were outside of the guitar. And that was a brave (or rather foolish) thing I did, because it cost me all of my savings at the time, meaning I could not get a tech to do it for me. The pickup set was a deal that I would never get again if I screwed it up (it would have cost twice of what I paid, if I had to import from the US or Thomann), and I haven't soldered for ages at the time (nor was I proficient at soldering either), so I took a risk, and I'm glad that it turned out well. I had no choice, due to the stock pickup had died and it was (and still is my only) "playable" guitar. I'm glad that you didn't have do extra drilling on the body, or on the bridge plate, or having to do repositioning work for the new bridge. My guitar has the Gibraltar Standard I (the bulkier version), yours a Standard II, which I believe, the Hipshot Ibby bridge being a drop in replacement. Sadly that wasn't the case for me, and due to that slight complication, the Standard II bridge I bought last year, is not in use atm and I've decided to just keep the bridge stock for now.
Thank you dude, that’s really kind of you to say! I’m glad you like it 🙏 Absolutely agree, more fixed bridges with a scratchplate would be really good to see. Sounds like you had quite the job on with your RG dude but massive props for getting on with it yourself! It does take some serious guts to dive headfirst into this, especially if you’re reluctant to do it and it’s not a guitar you can risk messing up so the risk absolutely paid off from what you said. So, instead of trading a mint Iron Lable for an RG350, RG450, or RG550, you completely ruin the entire thing. You got rid of the unique Ibanez exclusive bridge for the trendiest hardtail in the industry. I now see why they're so hard to find and why they're so damn expensive when you do find them.

Yeah, I've seen those man... At one point in my life I'd have liked them a lot, and I still do like the 7 string Xiphos, but overall they're just a bit underwhelming right? Thanks for checking out the video dude 🤘
link pickguard bro, i have ibanez grg 170,
I can't remember where I got it from mate, unfortunately, but it shouldn't be too hard to find one. I found this just through googling RG HH scratch-late. Thanks for watching dude 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars oh, ok sir, 😁
Call it bumble bee
Mate, that’s a really good suggestion! I like it a lot! Appreciate you watching and commenting dude, thank you 🤘
Call it “reborn”
Awesome suggestion Rene, thank you 🤘
Was most normal Ibanez, + good rg6ucs , other boring
Sorry bro, I don’t quite understand. Thank you for watching though, I appreciate it 🤘
you have to intonate it properly in the solo I noticed intonation issues.
Thanks mate I’ll get right on that 👍
So, instead of trading a mint Iron Lable for an RG350, RG450, or RG550, you completely ruin the entire thing. You got rid of the unique Ibanez exclusive bridge for the trendiest hardtail in the industry. I now see why they're so hard to find and why they're so damn expensive when you do find them.
They’re £300-£400 dude and there’s plenty of them so I wouldn’t worry if you want one. And besides, the Gibraltar bridge is super common and not that good. Either way I had fun modding my guitar, thanks for checking out the video 🤘
