`If you had a cabinet shop set up with the right machines and tools, the sky would be your limit. Excellent video. Thanks for sharing you talent.
what I like most about this build is that all of it is made with equipment most people (who are renovating that is) actually have. Projects that are made with expensive giant woodworking machines may be nice too, but 'amateurs' like most of us are, neither have the money or space to do that. But this shows what you can achieve with 'normal' tools and a realistic budget.
ABSOLUTELY! My biggest pet peeve is when these guys with thousands of dollars in equipment film themselves doing a project and there is no way I can do that as I don’t have the equipment!!
It's cool how the first impression of the video might feel like a more typical influencer DIY video but the more you watch + the timelapse editing show a methodical and accurate approach to the whole build
We loved watching this. We are both wondering how long this project took you and approximately what you spent. I’m sure it’s in the comments somewhere, but since there are 1500 of them, figured we would just ask.
📍 Nice DIY! 1st time viewer. Looks nice! Any post construction and 1 year later review/notes on changes for your viewers? Suggestions: Cabinet lumber is better purchased at a local wood store. The big box places are typically construction grade wood. Also, MDF is prone to moisture/humidity issues. LED channel could have been routed in at a bit deeper and at a ~20’ inward towards the wall to have less light glare towards the couch. Possibly individual shelf lighting control (rather than all shelves illuminated). Paint the channels black, too. I didn’t see the end width of the shelf, but perhaps a solid piece of lumber for the front 4 inches? (That router seems close to lessening the structural integrity. Maybe a biscuit and glue to assist in strength? Floating shelves might have been good to have anchored metal braces from the wall into your shelves, but your load appears light… so, all good. Brilliant use of dyed concrete. PVC pipe installed 1st (behind the walls and into the wallpaper layer wall) is great for feeding wires and changing wiring later. Easy with a fishing string, cotton balls, and a shop vac to pull the fishing line through, then tie in the new wire and pull. Can even leave a fishing line in there for the future. Don’t use monofilament (use threaded spider wire). Use this PVC method for new floor as well if you want to have power in the middle of the room (under a couch or side/coffee table). Works great for hiding speaker wires, too. Also great for outdoor wires to go underground (even if only an extension cord or speaker wire).
Awesome design and building skills. I see all the comments supporting positivity with this build. First step that was mentioned was planning which of course I agree with, but one factor is 98% of times ignored. Ergonomics of TV placement is almost never mentioned instead Design is the driving force that has everyone tripping out. In most cases TV’s are placed somewhat too high forcing people to strain their necks which in the long run discourages people from wanting to watch anything on that TV. I saw a video somewhere with the large TV in the kitchen was placed high above the Kitchen Island and the kid living there put a chair on top of the Island so he could comfortably play his Xbox games. My number one rule in planning is first sit down on the planned couch and temporarily place the TV according to the correct ergonomics of your neck, then plan the desired design.
This looks awesome, you guys crushed it! Love the look, super modern and custom. Im always impressed at your knowledge from electrical to just been resourceful on how it all comes together. I’d love to see the planning process of this, sketching, research etc.

Looks great! I suggest decoupling the speakers from the cabinet, tho. You can get something from Sound Addicted, IsoAcoustics mini pucks, or equivalent. Or just put rubber or cork on the bottom of the speakers. Personally I would get them 1/2 to 1 inch off the ground and they will sound much better.
Thank you and great tip! The speakers did come with cork already attached to the underside, but it is pretty thin. I’ll look into buying some thicker material!
Thanks for the inspiration and step by step - I nearly copy-catted your build- had to do some modifications due to our vaulted ceiling. Thanks for the hint using the besta cabinets, I could have made them but would have only saved about $100 and my time/labor were worth more than that!

Awesome work. Love it. What was the wall mount adapter you used behind the tv to. Move the power up and hide the cords? Don’t see it listed anywhere. Sorry if I am missing it.
Looks great.. just one suggestion on your shelf lights. Drop your front boards down what ever that defuser is an put led facing back wall. 2 reasons .. it will create a better shadow effect on the texture.. also when you sit down on couch looking up at tv the light is shining an taking away visibility of said tv . Little touches like that. Is what sets you up next level . As well as sub wolfer. Intergrade it in center of cabinet run . It would all flow . But do great work. Always learn something new everyday . From someone. Just put your own spin on it .
Great build! One thing I would have done is replace the TV with a high lumen projector, it would have given a much more entertainment feel + a lot bigger screen as well as worked during the day.
Thanks! We definitely considered one, but this room is filled with natural light. The side wall to the room is pretty much all glass. Even with a high lumen projector, it wouldn’t be a great experience to watch during the day
@@GoldenKeyDesign A 5000 lumen projector and the viewing area painted with projector paint there should be no issues even with all that natural light. Unless there's sun directly on the viewing area but not even a TV can withstand that.

Thank you!! This comment means a lot actually - been trying real hard to level up the production quality and design/build techniques so I really appreciate it! Thanks for coming back!
The project turned out amazing. 😎 I’ve never had much luck with those adhesive backed led strips. It’s always just a matter of time before the adhesive gives up and they start falling off. 😒
The result of this project actually came out pretty good! I ve been working as a carpenter in the past and had similar projects to deal with. There will always be some issues appearing that no one thought about prior to the execution, however certain things could have made your life way easier. Planing phase should have showed you that its way easier to paint the boards on the floor before mounting them. The side blends you installed at the floating board could have been mounted with magnets, so that the extra space can be used to hide electrics like the power supply at 25:31 . If you keep some space to the sides you can literally do the same thing with covers over the whole hight. That way you have some extra space to install wires over the coming years for things you might add. The LED you installed in your shelves looks good, however it would have been standard to install them at the top back. that way the give indirect light to the wall + light up everything you put on these shelves from behind. (exception would be the lowest board which can be done top and bottom to a more even light effect) Pro argument: it will be easier on the eyes when it comes to late night watch sessions. All in all very solid! looks pretty good!
Looks good. I have the same cabinets in my living room. Only thing I’d be worried about is the drywall anchors to mount the track. Mine are into the studs. I hadn’t thought to put a countertop on mine but might opt to go that route!
Super cool, I have imagined stuff like this but to see someone make this type of room come to life is amazing. Now please make it so the speakers are flush with the edge of the furniture and angle the center speaker up slightly, for the sound quality 😇
We are waiting on a mortgage outcome and on one knee going, on your mark pple, get set .... And waiting for the bank to say Go.....and I'm doing this in our lounge. Jus amazing, guys, hard work, but man is it beautiful 🎉 💞

My wife and I are getting ready for a huge remodel ourselves and, this was super inspiring! Thanks for your effort into this video. Your project turned out amazing!!!
Putting a lot of trust in these screw in drywall anchors. These are really more meant for hanging a picture frame long term and pretty much lack any anchoring force in the direction away from the wall. End result looks awesome though!
Thank you! I did bad job showing it in the video but we used 2 GRK structural fasteners into studs for each bracket and used 2 additional drywall anchors just to be safe but those weren’t necessary
Totally awesome, Totally enjoyed it. Awesome couple. Definitely will be using some of the ideas, going to start very soon building on my new cinema room.
I've been searching the web for inspiration for the media wall I'm going to build. This is my favourite so far. I think I might build something similar. You did a great job, thanks for sharing.
Thank you!! We considered that but it would be very heavy and we really wanted the countertop to look like one continuous board as well as match the shelving above
Scribing the countertop would have been such a pain in the ass. I'm so glad that you did the "easy" (smart) way and removed the drywall. That is NOT a cop out, you did the right move. Anyone who says otherwise is a try-hard and values their achievements over their time on this earth.

This turned out incredibly! I cannot wait to see how I can put my spin on an imitation of this. Thank you! ❤
Oh wow. Started following a while ago and didn't watch in a while. The quality of everything (production/build quality) has only gone up!
Thank you!! This comment means a lot actually - been trying real hard to level up the production quality and design/build techniques so I really appreciate it! Thanks for coming back!
The project turned out amazing. 😎
I’ve never had much luck with those adhesive backed led strips. It’s always just a matter of time before the adhesive gives up and they start falling off. 😒
Thank you!! I only buy the strips that have 3m adhesive and have always had good luck
swap it out for a 100 inch tv and it will be perfect.
The result of this project actually came out pretty good! I ve been working as a carpenter in the past and had similar projects to deal with.
There will always be some issues appearing that no one thought about prior to the execution, however certain things could have made your life
way easier.
The LED you installed in your shelves looks good, however it would have been standard to install them at the top back. that way the give indirect light to the wall +
light up everything you put on these shelves from behind. (exception would be the lowest board which can be done top and bottom to a more even light effect)
Pro argument: it will be easier on the eyes when it comes to late night watch sessions.
All in all very solid! looks pretty good!
Put a cork in it, Chachi.
That 77” looks so small, mainly due to the room being so huge and the couch is far from it. You’re gonna need something bigger.
That’s what you got from this? Also completely disagree
@@jake7358 oh no! Anyway…
I thought the same thing
How much does it cost to build this?@@Logan_Lovestein
Looks good. I have the same cabinets in my living room. Only thing I’d be worried about is the drywall anchors to mount the track. Mine are into the studs. I hadn’t thought to put a countertop on mine but might opt to go that route!
Thanks! All the brackets have 2 GRK fasteners going into studs. We added 2 additional drywall anchors just to be safe but they are not necessary
Which app you used to design this
I could 'almost' do this floor plan in Sims.
Its probably Sketchup
Stunning build. ❤
Super cool, I have imagined stuff like this but to see someone make this type of room come to life is amazing. Now please make it so the speakers are flush with the edge of the furniture and angle the center speaker up slightly, for the sound quality 😇
You didn't REPAIR THE DRYWALL before you put up the cabinets.. what in the hell.
There was no point. If I ever take these cabinets down (probably won’t for many years), I will take the drywall out with them and replace it then.
It just goes to show that if you plan and take your time doing a video, millions of people will watch it.
We are waiting on a mortgage outcome and on one knee going, on your mark pple, get set .... And waiting for the bank to say Go.....and I'm doing this in our lounge. Jus amazing, guys, hard work, but man is it beautiful 🎉 💞
This is a very nice living room. The design, color sense, and size are all wonderful, and it's one of the best videos I've ever seen. Thank you for uploading the video.
Absolutely beautiful 🎉 I'm thinking of doing exactly the same. It's too awsome.
Thanks! Go for it!
What a nice job you guys did. No wonder the pros charge so much money to do this. It's a lot of freaking work. 🙂
Thank you! It sure is a lot of work 😅 I love being able to save money on labor and I thoroughly enjoy the design and build process!!
I have been looking for inspiration for a long wall in my basement. This has answered so many questions for me.
Glad you enjoyed the video!! Good luck with your project 😁
super impressive guys! nothing seemed super hard just alot of planning and time consuming. love how all this turned out! gives me some inspo for my house.
Thank you!! You’re exactly right - technically speaking, isn’t not a super tough project. The hardest part is planning and sourcing materials!
Very nice build, good choice on the LG C3 and Klipsch speakers.
Thank you! Glad someone can appreciate the set up 😁
you said it about routers: intimidating, but there's nothing as versatile. great job
Exactly! I get nervous every time I turn it on, but the end result is worth it
PHENOMENAL WORK!!! I love your attention to detail Grant and the space came out beautiful. I'll be using some of your ideas in my family room.
Totally awesome, Totally enjoyed it. Awesome couple. Definitely will be using some of the ideas, going to start very soon building on my new cinema room.
Thank you!! Good luck with your build!
I've been searching the web for inspiration for the media wall I'm going to build. This is my favourite so far. I think I might build something similar. You did a great job, thanks for sharing.
Great job, needs something above the tv though, maybe a small oak floating shelf
Thanks and great idea!
Great job guys.... Butcher block may have been a great alternative
Thank you!! We considered that but it would be very heavy and we really wanted the countertop to look like one continuous board as well as match the shelving above
wow, that looks great. Perhaps a video on the different LED zones and more in depth of how you wired everything.
Beautiful. Inspiration for us to get moving on similar ideas that has been bouncing around our heads, loved the Ikea simple cabinet idea.🎉
Thank you!! Glad it was helpful 😁
I really love the project you did. The bonus of it all is that you do it as a couple.
Scribing the countertop would have been such a pain in the ass. I'm so glad that you did the "easy" (smart) way and removed the drywall. That is NOT a cop out, you did the right move. Anyone who says otherwise is a try-hard and values their achievements over their time on this earth.
Beautiful job ,well done i watched the video again and final result came out amazing . ❤
Thanks so much 😊
That level of finish is so 🤌
Thank you!! Really appreciated it ☺️
How wide is that wall? This has been a huge inspiration for my first house and the living room design. Thak you!
Great work and what a transformation. Quick question . does the one remote allow you to control each zone individually or you need 3 remotes?
Absolutely beautiful. I’m building a new house and I will have a wall space very similar to this. Thanks for the inspiration.
Oh Wow - awesome job, night and day transformation - very nice....love the color tones used very clean!
Thank you so much!
