    Remember Jack Nicholson saying to Helen Hunt in As Good As It Gets, "You make me want to be a better man"? Well, you make me want to be a better knitter. And I know I have improved because of you. I can never know everything but I am very pleased when I realize I have made progress. Thank you so much!

    Thank you for your expertly filmed and narrated tutorials. You're often the difference between knitters taking on new techniques and just giving up. I'm making a striped bunny and now its going to be awesome!

    You are amazing. It is the weaving in that makes the magic! I have slipped the stitch in the past and then carried the yarn up but that is not as clean as the weaving in. So worth the clean edge! Thank you for sharing your expertise.

    I made a little swatch this morning and was amazed how nice your method looks. I had seem your method in a book, but it didn't show it magnified like your video shows. Your video shows so clearly where the duplicate stitches are placed. Thank you so much for the video and the explanation. It really is great!

    • @SuzanneBryan

      I love swatching to try new techniques or to refine older ones, don't you? Thanks. Happy knitting.

    • @elainebos
      @elainebos 6 років тому

      Yes, I think it is worth the effort to make swatches trying new techniques. Now, I am keeping some knitting worsted weight yarn and needles near my iPad to do swatches. I used to not take the time to do swatches, thinking I was wasting time. But using larger yarn and needles really helps seeing what I am doing. I usually make projects using finer yarn, which makes it more tricky to see what I am doing. I look forward to seeing your video on the eye of the partridge two color heel flap.

    Thank you! Your technique makes so much sense. I have been embarrassed to leave the jogs in a hat. Now I can do it much better. I noticed that you knit the continental stitch exactly the way I do, using the middle finger to lay the yarn over the tip of the needle. You explain the steps very clearly, which is most helpful.

    This is so very helpful. I read about this technique many years ago (either from EZ or from Meg Swanson) and used it (quite sloppily) when I remembered, but THIS just clicked. Your clear and "scientific" approach reminds me to LOOK at my knitting and really know what the yarn is doing... what does a slip stitch actually do? what will these yarn ends do? You are very empowering! Thank you over and over!

      Suzanne Bryan hi suzanne, yes it is ribbing on 2 sides with color a in front and color b on the back. where as tubular is knit on both side, double side ribbing has purl and knit on each side.

    I'm taking note of the jogless technique (thank you)... but also thinking this is one of many examples showing how awesomely even your tension / gauge is ... have you ever done a series of simple, sensible things to do to help even our gauge?
    Mine is consistent but not even. I mean throughout a piece of work, whether in round or flat, one half of the "v" that makes up a knit stitch always looks crowded compared to the other half. Blocking helps enormously, but I do wonder what else I could do to try to re-train my hands. :-)

      I do have a video on even tension - ua-cam.com/video/OoQT5F4lmJc/v-deo.html. Let me know if that helps you. Happy knitting.

    Is there a video on how to do this for fair Isle patterns? I would appreciate that.

      The yarn is Malabrigo Rios for the color and Wool2Dye4 Improved Merino non Superwash worsted for the natural color. Thank you.

    Thank you, great technique clearly explained but am I right in thinking that the stitch counter is moving back by 1 stitch on each round? Won’t that affect shaping decreases etc? Thanks

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  Рік тому +1

      Great question. You would keep the beginning of round marker static, just move the marker for the jobless job.

    Hi Suzanne - help! I’m new to knitting in the round & trying to knit the Branta hat on Ravelry. It has one zigzag stripe & I can’t figure if I should use your jogless join technique & if so where? I’ve done a few swatches but not coming up with the answer. Thanks for any help you’re able to give.

      In the case of this pattern, either way will be fine, with or without the jogless jog technique.

    Does this method also work with 2 & 3 round stripes? Thanks. It’s ok Suzanne, I’ve found your part2 video thanks!

      Knitting with Suzanne Bryan Used your method on a hat thanks. Can I use it in stranded work too?

    • @SuzanneBryan

      Yes, there are times when it will work, but there are times when it won't.

    Ms. Bryan, this video is a thing of beauty. Has anyone ever told you that you are a graceful knitter? Watching this is like watching ballet; a thing of beauty, but with a practical application.🙂 Btw, does this technique fix the jog in self-striping yarn? Thank you.

    • @SuzanneBryan

      @@SuzanneBryan I have lots of self-striping yarn in stash; ok, I went a little overboard, but I like to think that happens with many knitters.🤭

    Hi Suzzane, I'm doing 2 colour stranded knitting with magic loop method. The pattern is checkerboard (k2 colour A, k2 colour B for 2 rounds then switch colour). The problem is when I finish 1 round and need to start another round, the jog forms and distort the checkerboard pattern. Have you got a suggestion to fix this? Thank you

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  5 років тому

      It is just part of stranded knitting. You can try employing the jogless method, but it is kind of annoying to do it and move the beginning of round. I usually place that portion to side of the project (garment or sock, etc).
