    Dear Suzanne, i am so thankful for all your very estimated videos. I learnt knitting at school and only knitted when my kids were small and this is a long time ago. Since two years i knit again for my grandchild and as i find so lovely patterns in english (my mother tongue is german) i know that i will always find the right video of yours. Thank so you very much!

    Wow thanks, it just amazes me of the thorough knowledge and research in this video that you share. I am so thankful I get to watch it and follow along on the thought process and your discoveries, as a fairly new knitter it is so interesting to get to see someone who are very skilled making this swatches and can describe what the very small differences in technique achieve so different results. This is far beyond what I would even figure to testing out, so I am so grateful to be able to watch this so I can try it out myself and learn more! Really feels like it helps me understand my knitting better, and it is such fun getting to dive in on this details!

    I bought a pattern for a very cute unicorn toy with 1-row stripes, which is pretty detailed and contains lots of basic guidance, but it completely lacks any advice on how to make clean stripes.
    A basic guide on how to knit toys would definitely be on my wishlist for your patterns because I know they are always complete and full of basic advice 🥰❤
    Also, I love the high quality of your recording, even the fine stitch marker can be seen clearly. Thank you 😘😘

    I have a pattern for a colourwork beanie that gives this instruction, but the designer says I should still start from the first stitch of the chart every time, that just doesn't make sense to me as then the pattern doesnt match. In your opinin, In colourwork, would you move along the chart each round to compensate for moving the marker?

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, if you slip a stitch, then you need to move the marker one stitch to the left and also move one stitch to the left on your chart.

    What is I only want two rows of color, then several rows of another color? Does the stagger only happen on the two rows of color?

    I struggle with jogs while knitting the yoke with colorwork. When knitting a chart do I still slip the first stitch and then start the chart one stitch off each row?

    Good job,,,, please explain Helix knitting

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  7 років тому

      Great question. Helix knitting is where you knit in the round with more than one color and the colors spiral around rather than making distinct stripes with beginnings and ends. In Helix knitting there is only the beginning where you add the color and the end, when you end the color. You can work it with multiple colors spiraling together and it can be any number of rows of each color spiraling. I have a video on this topic at ua-cam.com/video/RIi2WVprRXE/v-deo.html.

    can this be used at the join in fair isle knitting in the round? I wonder what people do when they reach the end of the round (in fair isle knitting). Is there a video available,

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, you could do this. But there are many other things you can do too. For example, some Fair Isle designs have a stripe down the underarms or other purposeful break in the pattern. Or you can make the move in the row change in the background color where it will now show. Also you will note that many designs will have a vertical element, that is a good place to make the row change as well. Experiment.

    Is it not necessary to tie a knot before finishing the beginning and end of the stripes? It gives me the impression that a stronger pull could release the thread that was worked at the end.

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  6 років тому +1

      No knot is necessary. Do it on a swatch and give it a try.

    Would this work on a sleeve with decreases?

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  6 років тому

      Yes. Great question. I would make the decreases happen in the non-jog rows though, it would just be less confusing.
      Happy knitting.
