the reason i think the elites arent moving is because they arent ever meant to be fought in that part of the level. If the scenario was done at a part where elites normally did spawn fighting brutes, i think the elite AI wouldve been more responsive in general.
I've spawned Hunters in this scenario and they've been more responsive. I may have changed some "initial order" values back then. I'll have to do some testing.
Actually in the lore brutes are hella lot stronger even than hunters, and elites are supposed to be agile hut the game balance changes that for the sake of balanced gameplay.
Even if the elites were to move around more and try to evade the grenades in such a little bit more they still would've got slaughtered by these brutes. Quite frankly the elites starting in halo 2 got very slow and clumsy ... And halo 3 they got even WORSE having shields that were weaker then before to add fuel to that fire, and were more top heavy/broad. Halo reach elites aren't even elites to me as they are like Jacked up on steroids and Cocaine running around as fast as skirmishers...... Halo 4 -5 elites are just brutes in elite Halloween costumes. I love the graphic details of halo 2 elites , their dialogue and some of their new animations with the energy sword but still , Halo CE elites=master race.

The elites were easily tricked into believing that there was a great journey while the brutes (or at least at first) never believed in it. But once the covenant reached their peak and the brutes rallied behind Tartarus it was all over. The brutes (or at least some) are actually on par with the elites and sometimes even smarter than the elites. But, jist like reality, there are really intelligent forms among both sides and really retarded forms amongst both sides.

One Winged Ice Angel they are supposed to be beefy. I think they were too weak in halo 3 and acted almost too much like the elites. The primal and more ape like look of them in halo 2 looks a lot better in my opinion and the way they acted in halo 2 made them feel a lot like actual apes which i think was lost in halo 3.

When it comes to plasma weapon fights the brute will always win as the elites have low hp and rely on their shields for protection but plasma weapons burn through shields and the brutes have so much hp the even dual weild plasma rifles take so many shots that the game lags.

Ügiustus Keiserus Rangers are the pilots, and I run away from them all the time lol. They're the ones in jet packs. Zealots are basically the same thing as the swordmasters/ generals in Halo 2, and they basically only use energy swords. You can basically 1v1 them with an smg and win 99% of the time. High Councillors are sort of dangerous, but that mostly depends on what weapon they're using. If it's a carbine or he's dual wielding plasma rifles, you're probably in trouble. But for the most part it isn't that hard. If he has a fuel rod gun or energy sword, he won't kill you unless you let him.
Sod elites thrive in tactical situations while the brutes are supposedly more powerful and use a far more straight forward approach by trying to overwhelm thier enemies by force. I think these traits are reflected really well in halo 2 which is why i think this battle played out like it did. The elites prefer to have cover or some means of gaining a tactical advantage over the enemy instead of just outright killing thier enemies by force which is why i think they failed so hard in this video. If this battle took place in a different environment or perhaps if the elites had cover then i think the battle would have played out differently. The elites probably would have tried to flank the brutes. Use the cover to avoid shots and perhaps not stand there doing nothing haha. The elite ai in my opinion are not bad by any means but require the right situation so that they are able to overcome the enemy. Ive found that when playing against elites they seem to constantly switch actions. Moving from cover advancing to the player and then quickly retreating if damage is taken. They were unable to do this here as there was nowhere for them to retreat to. I think because they were unable to do these things the brutes were able to just easily destroy them as they are a lot tougher and threatening in halo 2. This is by no means a criticism of your video as i still enjoyed the battle. I was just wondering if you could redo this battle in a different environment where the elites have a bit more cover and space to play with as i think they would perform a lot better rather than just standing there trying to soak up the bullets.
I'm thinking of adding back the little covers that were originally in this part of the level. I'm currently looking into the orders that the AI had in the squad and trying to figure out why they didn't act "properly". They should be fixed up for the next one.

Hossain Ali Gamecheat 13 did a brute honor guard vs elite honor guard ai battle in this exact spot and those elites behaved just fine

Using "Assembly" you can open Halo map files and look at that .char tags, which contain enemies health stats and others.
I assume that's a mod/app? Is there somewhere the information is stored? I can't find it on either wiki.

As mentioned before, there was an error with the orders within the AI's squad. This'll be fixed for the next battles.
