    You are a genius! The way that you use the drawing to explain a complex concept is amazing!

    Great systematic idea. It is more applicable than first impressions suggests. Life got a big reset after going blind, and I'm pivoting or relearning much of what we take for granted in daily living. Keep the gems coming... Just a point to note, great communication flows from a mix of forms (at least two). I was fine until you hit the graphs and forgot to verbally summarize them.

    Honestly this video is kinda life changing and I happened to watch it at the right time, few days ago I was struggling to pick myself up and move forward with my plans and I watched this video, this is my second time rewatching it because after the first time I totally fell for the motivation at the beginning and pushed to hard, although it's so obvious that consistency is the key but my first go to is thinking that if I put more hours I will reach there faster which just as the video says only puts you on the pain curve and you end self sabotaging your goal, so trying to stick to my lower limits this time

    Great video. Much of this felt like you were speaking directly to me. I’ve fallen into the trap of setting lofty goals during peak motivation far too many times. It’s actually encouraging to hear that pattern described, because now I can recognize it in the moment. I like your tools for managing these fluctuations and will be applying your ideas. Well done communicating your thoughts so effectively!

      Wow, thank you for your kind words and sharing your situation. It's so easy to get caught in that trap, right? I'm really glad the tools and ideas made sense, and I really appreciate your feedback on my communication of the ideas, too. I'm always mindful of whether I'm doing it well enough! Your support means a lot 🙏 😊

    I'm a student. I want to Study for like 12 to 13 hrs and that unrealistic high expectations are overwhelming me so much that I cant even study for 2 hrs properly should I set my lowest study hours( lower limit ) to 4 or 5 hrs and then increase it gradually ? or is it too high to be a lower limit?

    • @James_Lim
      @James_Lim  2 місяці тому +1

      Great question. Your lower limit should be set so that you feel comfortable that you can achieve it. A 9 out 10 in confidence that you can. If you're struggling to do 2 hrs. That would suggest any more than that is far too much. From. The sounds of it, 1 hr or 2 hrs might be a good starting point. And upper limit of 3hrs to start. Let me know thoughts and I can help

      thanks for replying sir.
      Actually Some day I study 3 hrs , some day 2 hrs , the highest I've studied is 5 hrs but nowadays overthinking is my enemy and I'm always in a hurry that I've to finish this chapter but at the end of the day I'm wasting time in scrolling or overthinking. getting back to study is giving me another kind of fear .

      @@insiyahsarif3696seems like your perception of what you “should” be doing is sabotaging your ability to sit down, dig in and find a flow state. Perhaps try short bursts. Minimum of 15 mins where your goal is to understand a concept or complete some small milestone (like a chapter of a textbook). If you find your flow, let yourself go for 30, 45 mins… maybe an hour. But stop yourself there and do something else. In this way you are always keeping the fire lit, as mentioned in the video, AND you are never sitting down with a goal of 3 hours in mind, rendering you overwhelmed and unable to focus. As long as you know you can do anything for 15 mins, you can scale the number/length of study sessions based on your motivation on that day and whether you find a flow. And most importantly, don’t give yourself flak when you have 15 min sessions - even for several days in a row. Managing expectations of what you “should” be doing will free you to do instead of worrying that you’re not doing enough and falling behind. I say this as a 38 year old who was a horrible student due to poor study habits, but am making a career change and studying for it on the daily. Employing these bite size, daily habits adds up deceptively fast and has enabled me to make consistent progress for the past 8 months, all while not feeling overwhelmed by the process. All the best to you
