    Hi everyone! I have a free private community for people who are serious about working on their goals. I wasn't planning to open it up yet, as it's been in beta testing phase, but have already received enquiries so I'll post the waitlist link here: james785075.typeform.com/to/wfLQl8iT

    Brilliant analogies. Great for those of us struggling to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • @user-wt2hx4pb8n
    @user-wt2hx4pb8n Місяць тому +6

    One interesting way the analogy extends that isn't quite covered in the video is what you do when you want to land the plane. This is another area where a lot of focus and energy is needed, and puts another blip on the energy curve that needs to be managed with other projects. Great analogy, thanks for the framework.

    • @Thatindianguy.
      @Thatindianguy. Місяць тому

      What exactly do you mean by landing the plane? As in stopping something?

    • @user-wt2hx4pb8n
      @user-wt2hx4pb8n Місяць тому

      @@Thatindianguy. Yup. I'm referring to what you do and how you manage when you have to stop a long-term project or transition to a different phase. Think like your mindset when you're nearing the launch of a work project, or the end of training if you're training for a sports competition

    This looks more like an inverted Dunning Kruger effect, this analogy and parameters are very sensible. Thanks for the video.

    This was great, thank you for the insights some of the advice in this area/field can be kinda BS. Kinda like the power of positive thinking, but this is a good roadmap that accurately depicts the challenges and how to overcome them.

    • @James_Lim
      @James_Lim  5 місяців тому +1

      I really appreciate your comment, glad to hear it was useful! Yeah, I totally agree with you on the BS out there, a lot of is is full of fluff, that doesn't help people move forward in a tangible way. I'll be trying my best to share some of these approaches that should be useful! Let me know if you'd like anything covered in the future. (I've got a lot in the pipeline already!)

      @@James_Lim I haven't deep dived into your library only skimmed through, so you might have covered these topics. But do you have any advice on be effective with the time one has? Idk if you know of the Olympic wrestler Dan Gable but he said he used to wake up in the middle of the night to do pushups because he would get worried a future opponent was training harder than him. That is both inspiring and worrying to me, how do I know if I am working hard enough? How do I work get more done of what I already am doing in the time I am doing it? How do I gauge when I am pushing towards burnout and need to take a break. How do I make sure I get what I need out of a break and so that I don't feel dread or anxiety about getting back to work? I am a programmer and I want to have more "drive" does it come from passion? I guess there might be more but I will leave it there for now.
      Thank you again for the videos.
      One last thing though, do you have any thoughts, remarks or criticisms on "The 7 Habits of Highly Successful People" by Stephen Covey? I think it is probably the only objectively good for every person self-help book (maybe "Atomic Habits" too), and most others at best just speak to your personal biases and help you overcome any niche or "moment in time" problems. Jordan Peterson was like that for me, since I am a male that grew up catholic and can have a harsh dramatic inner critic. His tone, vocabulary and message helped me out of a rut a few years back. But I can see how he is completely unappealing to other people, so I don't hold his work as high, or would even recommend them to anybody unless they came from a similar background as me. Tony Robbins might have a similar effect for other people for example but doesn't do much for me.

    Being energy efficient is the way to achieve more things, with the same amount of energy.
    Simple math people, and you can easily make it a habit.

    My self-confidence was so low that I had to start with small planes, like the Cessna 172 😂
    For example:
    - Map 10 business ideas in one hour.
    - Do 30 minutes of exercise.
    - Eat healthy at least 2 times a day.
    It is true that little by little you increase the size of the airplanes and it becomes more comfortable, you make a weekly menu, you chain 5 days of exercise, you start a small business with an MVP...
    I think the key is that the airport is always working, even if it is with small planes taking off, but always active 😊 🛫

    It’s very distracting to hear you drinking and swallowing in the video. I don’t know why but these sounds really disturb me.
    Otherwise fabulous content, 10/10, very practical advice

    I loved the concepts and you explained them clearly. I’d like to suggest something that might help you reach and help more people.
    I recently completed a communications course called Stage Academy by Vihn Giang. I don’t get anything from referrals stageacademy.mykajabi.com
    I just thought this my be a plane you might want to consider taking off next. Hope it helps!
    Thank you for making this video.
