It is devastating to see this shit. As a kid watching this play out as this happened, it changed me forever. I was going through school WHEN sandy hook was happening. As a young adult, after having very close threats with school --a gun ON campus-- and my younger brother STILL going through school, with a serious lockdown three days ago ... this is infuriating. I met a sophomore at my university this year that was a survivor of sandy hook. It was jarring. People do this with the Holocaust too. I just don't know how much hope I have when I know there are people like this ... when there are things like this that happen, period ... it's disheartening.
This breaks my heart. Have these parents not suffered enough. Alex Jones is a very sick and selfish man. I cannot imagine parents feel like and the trauma that they have suffered knowing that their child and their family has gone through so much pain. Alex Jones needs to go away and he needs to be held accountable both financially and in every other way possible. As I share this with you right now I want to cry. The problem is, it's hard to find a juror that would agree that 150 million is deserved for someone getting their feelings hurt by what Alex said. That's why the parents lost the case and won't be getting 45 million plus the 4.1 million awarded by the jury. TX law says to get compensatory damages for pain and suffering, they must have a unanimous jury agreeing on the amount. They only had 10 of 12 jurors agree on the 4.1 million, therefore they get zero compensatory. The jury awarded 45 million in punitive damages, but TX law caps punitive at 2 times the compensatory plus 750 thousand. Since they got zero compensatory, they will not get punitive damages except for the 750 thousand. That was stupid for them to sue for an unreasonable amount of 150 million. They were thinking if they could just get 20% of the 150 mill or 30 million awarded for compensatory, it would be multiplied by 2 plus the 750 thousand and they'd be getting 90.75 million. What they did was piss off a couple of jurors who viewed the outrageous amount of 150 million as extortion and didn't vote to award them anything. If they would have simply sued for a reasonable amount of say 1 million, they probably could have gotten all 12 to agree and then got 2 times that amount for punitive plus the 750 thousand, which would be 3.75 million, but instead all they got is 750 thousand.
The fact that Jones is still spewing the same garbage while the hearings are going on shows he has no remorse and should be taken for everything he has.
