I love this what u r doing for ur kids it goes to say “give ur kids a fish they’ll eat for a day, teach them to fish they’ll eat for a lifetime” good job brother!
Great video !!!!!! my dad used to sit under the carport and make cast nets 1&1/4 mesh for mullet and he used real cow horn sliced for the neck " horn". He made our nets out of monofilament line back in the sixties i remember a many time shucking oysters/skinning catfish for supper, we ate mullet roe with homemade tartar sauce and hot water cornbread. I had six brothers and one sister so we all worked to feed the family. my dad worked at brooklen air force base in mobile and we fished on the weekends. " sorry if i am too long winded "
Great video, that’s awesome that you put out good information like that. A lot of people want to try it but are afraid to dump a lot of money into it, this gives them a much easier way to start. I have a nice net that I ordered from Memphis net and twine. This is my first year trying to shrimp and we have limited out one time and made other trips just to get a few more and some bait. I would like to thank you and Mikey D for your instructional videos. You guys are great!
Awesome! Love hearing that. Sometimes I wonder why I even do the videos because of all of the work, but I love making them. Plus when I get older and can not throw that big net any more I will have videos to show and look back on I guess! Tight Lines!!
Glad to see Shrimping is still alive in the river. Poor Boy is pronounced P-OH Boy. I'm from New Orleans and hearing Poor Boy was like running an ice pick into my ear drum. Other than that great vid!
Looks fun. I remember once the weather was too bad to go out in the ocean and we saw something jumping out of the grass in the waterway so we stopped and threw the cast net to see what it was. Huge shrimp. We caught hundreds.
Love the video buddy...... I watch jetty rock fishing and the odd couple all the time now I have another channel to watch thanks very much for your time
I live a few blocks away from Schumaker and still don’t have one of his nets. Great seeing the next generation learning how it’s done. Keep it up Bill.
OG style there, Tim Wade is the net master here in Brevard, sure he stays very busy, highly recommend to anyone looking for highest quality nets. Just came across your channel like to see what's going on in Volusia County 👍🏼
Awesome! Welcome bro! Always good to connect with other fisherman in the know. Have met some really cool people who have taught me some stuff and still fish with to this day. And yes I know Tim Wade as well he made a few roe mullet nets back in the 90s for me.
That's a dagum good idea that I'm trying today lol 🤟 My Grandpa used to load up on huge Shrimp throwing a can of dog food in the saltwater ditches that branch off the Brazos River here in TX. Dow Chemical has since fenced that spot off but we just used 6' cast nets & dagum we'd catch some eater shrimp!
I just ran across your videos and subscribed to your channel...you and your boys r super cool dudes. I love that your son showed u up as my son does as well Lol
That's some good advice on athe net!! On a different thread whatever happened with the boat you was rebuilding, the one that kind if reminds you of a square end canoe? Enjoy your videos!!
Thanks! Yeah the boat got donated to a local high school kid that is now rebuilding it. I don't have the time with all of the other stuff getting in the way. I still am doing the gigging boat rebuild slowly that is lol. I like fishing too much instead of working. :)
As the net drops the weight from the lead line cause it to close the deeper it goes. The tape keeps the net open more as it sinks. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
Great vid. Looks like you were in my neck of the intercoastal, good to see the shrimp in this far. Have you heard if they were hitting shrimp under the Dunlawton bridge at all? Back in the day, before I got a boat, we used to limit out off the dock under the West side. But since I had to sell it, I may have to try there once again, but I would hate to tape my net up, if they're not coming in that shallow. Haven't seen anyone throwing a net when I drive by, but ya never know. Keep the Great content coming.
I haven't seen them that far south in a while my man. But being a lifelong resident of the area, I do know what you are talking about. The shrimp used to be thick around the bridge lights at night too while fishing. Hey thanks for watching and good to hear memories like that for sure. AHHH the good ole days.
I do not have the helix 5, but with all sonar machines I just turn sensitivity up up until you get snow and then back down just until it goes away. Hope that helps
Very cool and you answered a few more questions I had, would be cool to know the date you are doing it, I feel like the uploads are probably a week or more later? I always want to get my shit loaded and head that way, then I am like damn this is probably old news haha
@@JackedUpFishing brown shrimp don't but white shrimp seems like they move faster then the browns. As long as we out there catching them it doesn't matter what we use and how we use it. Be safe on the water.

Nice bunch of Shrimp that`s right got to teach the Boys so they can take over for Pop when he needs a break. Enjoyed it
Yea! Been waiting for this day to come for while. Time for me to sit back and pick up shrimp lol

Yeah you do, I was just there the other day. Love fishing back in there.
I tried to pick my shrimp net up from Shumaker yesterday morning and could not get ahold of him. I'll try again Monday

Bill do you think there are still shrimp out there, I am going to take Friday off and head north to try my luck.
Not sure they have been on smaller side. But changes day to day
Those look great. I wonder if you could just put a 1 inch ribbon through there?
I’m sure you could but 1 inch might now be enough
I scored a 12 or 14 footer cheap, and I taped it, now just to learn to throw it lol next round of them run in March?
No there is sometimes a winter run, but they run yearly around 4th of July
So what does the tape do different?/ why does that help it?
As the net drops the weight from the lead line cause it to close the deeper it goes. The tape keeps the net open more as it sinks. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

On your Humminbird HELIX-5: What are your SONAR SETTINGS to be able to locate shrimp???
I do not have the helix 5, but with all sonar machines I just turn sensitivity up up until you get snow and then back down just until it goes away. Hope that helps
To catch shrimp as you have in this video, are you looking for a strong current or a slack tide or does it matter?
Best with a moving current for sure. 👍
Where is this Bro, nice shrimp .you doing very good
It's in Daytone Beach Florida. Thanks for watching!
Can u raise grass shrimp?
Don’t really know
Thank you.
Thanks for watching
What is the role of that tape?
It makes net sink slower and keeps net open as it sinks
Very cool and you answered a few more questions I had, would be cool to know the date you are doing it, I feel like the uploads are probably a week or more later? I always want to get my shit loaded and head that way, then I am like damn this is probably old news haha

@@squishypush3343 He probably doesn't want to give too much info out either lol can't have everyone on his spots
With shrimp I generally post right away because my followers like the reports.
That’s right. My shrimp content is pretty much posted right away.
@@JackedUpFishing Thanks
What is it about the tape that is helping?
It slows the net edges and helps keep net more open as it sinks. Catches more shrimp!
@@JackedUpFishing got it thanks great vid and technique
@@BryTunesMusic thx 🙏
What location were yall in ??
Daytona Beach
I just need to know how tou get that net open like that make a video how to throw it please

Custom lol love it. Whose ford?
Lol it worked good and got kids in the water. My friends son just got the super duty. It the gas one but it’s real nice truck
Proof that you can create/fix anything with Duct Tape.
💯
I taped a 7 foot net once and did the tape in 18" sections with 12" gaps and it worked fine , stayed open but wasnt super slow to sink
Thats what you want. Catches more shrimp in the mid water column.
You in Jacksonville?
No sir Daytona Beach

Its the Halifax River in Daytona Beach.
@@JackedUpFishing thanks
Don't forget to put a zip tie tight around the horn, so no shrimp escape through there. 😊
👍
That cast net looks really easy to throw. But in my side doesn't this kind of fishing net.
It is easy once you learn to throw it correctly. It is all technique

It’s pretty easy just takes practice
Yeah but look how slow its sinking especially for white shrimp i like my net to sink fats but im only fishing 6 to 7 feet of water.
Yeah shrimp don't move that fast, we use these nets in 6-20ft
@@JackedUpFishing brown shrimp don't but white shrimp seems like they move faster then the browns. As long as we out there catching them it doesn't matter what we use and how we use it. Be safe on the water.
