- Fishing at a big pier in North Florida with a mission - catch anything that bites and try to finally catch my first ever keeper pompano! We head out to go fishing with a bucket full of live shrimp and dream! What kind of fish would be around a pier like this during this time of the year?? Fall fishing is supposed to be awesome down here! I did not expect for this to happen..

Have yall been catching anything lately?? 🤔New species alert! This pier is a lot different the later into the year it gets!
I have caught a little in Louisiana. Not much though.
Mostly just big catfish and some bass

How about taking your kayak inland and float-fidh some blackwater rivers that feed into the ocean.
Freshwater all the way but camp on river. Maybe stage your camping gear/truck at a take-out spot and camp overnight.
Continue on the river the next morning. Done this many times in Missouri with Dad and brother. Very cool.
If you want to catch some whiting, use fresh shrimp. Then cut off pieces big enough to cover your hook and clean off the shell from the shrimp. Cast into the surf and you’ll catch a bunch of them.

I have used a3 foot rod had a 10 pound red fish on got it to my feet Ocracoke island snapped my line I had a 3ft rod idk what I was exiting little tip use shrimp or minoows doesn’t matter dead or alive go to the bay side of inlet there is a peak with rock cat 4 to 5 feet out wait 5 secoihnds they set hook very hard no matter what

im surprised you dont use TELESCOPING fishing rods. i love my 9'3" telescoping rod with quantum optix80, 80lb braid and 8/0 circle hook.
A big sand flea would do the job to catch keepers

Read the ocean.. waves grow when it get shalow and they break when they are twice the depth so you got a shallow platau in front of you with a deeper area beside it and its deep outside it aswell. I would move out further and fish the dropoff around the platau. G.L

I’m just curious, why film all of this in NE Florida? The saltwater fishing here isn’t even close to as good as the rest of the state. You’d have better luck if you tried elsewhere
One thing about the pier, people are nosey and hate it when people ask if they can have what you caught. I would of tossed that baby jack back in the water in their face, I'm like, go catch something yourself.

Once I was in Stone Harbor and caught a sand shark almost caught two and something in the water to must have been a 4 foot sand shark

Come to California around August, September and we will take the kayaks out into the Pacific kelp beds and catch 3, 4, 5, 6 different species!

I would recommend the middle of the pier or right before the middle. If you're gonna be in that Shallow you're just gonna catch micros.

Best pompano fishing I've had was a few days after hurricane ian. Limited out. I've caught 1 or 2 here and there. But never Limited out. Plus I had mangroves snappers. I also lost all of my crab traps because I stupidly left them out. Didn't expect it to hit this area

i recommend making your own pompano rigs at home with a 2/0 circle hook they’re better than the ones u can buy premade in my opinion

It would be nice to say where you are fishing each time so people can get an idea of what works and doesn't work at a particular location. Just saying your in Florida doesn't help much. Keep up the great videos!
