Cannot wait to try your technique. And of all I've watched that seems the easiest. I cannot wait to try to catch my own bait. I am a 77-year-old grandmother and I fish whenever I can
You rock grandma! About 15 years ago, after getting forced out of my position with a non-profit, I started climbing and cutting down major sized trees. Eventually I shifted to specializing in climbing and cutting palm trees from the top down, much more fun than doing trees. A couple of years ago, as a favor for an elderly friend, I agreed to cut all the large tree limbs arching over their roof prior to a refurbishment. Throughout the day developed a severe bout of gastric reflux. Kept going but by sundown I was struggling to breath, feeling weak as a kitten and extremely sleepy. Knew better but still took the risk and ended up getting wedged in a crotch junction. Somehow managed to extricate myself but by then in such bad shape had to drop off the tree and abseil to the ground. Couldn't stand by myself but after five minutes laying on a cold concrete garage floor I was doing okay again. Point of this story is that the wife of my friend suggested that maybe it was time I reconsidered things, that perhaps I was too old to be doing this kind of work now. I was 61 at the time. Have to say, that knocked my confidence, especially when she refused to allow me to return to cut down the three palms I was going to do next. Didn't get back into it until this year, knocking out six palms all around 30 feet high. I turn 63 next Friday. You're an inspiration and an encouragement to myself and so many others. We can never let anyone tell us we're too old for anything. Look out little fishy, grandma's coming and she's got herself a net!
Great video. What everyone who teaches this, seems to always miss, is the swing backwards right before it is thrown. This is the most important part to getting it to spread.
SO HAPPY to see a left handed video! And the steps to success using your method seems easier than some of the others AND The point of view cast is really helpful!
Thank you soooooo much for this video, I have tried probably 10 other techniques, I literally got this one of the first throw. It takes more finesse and a little power, but my 7' cast net opens up every time. Seriously, thank you so much!
Thank you so much, I've watched several videos on the easiest way to throw a cast net only to be frustrated watching the net land in a mess. My first throw using your method was my best throw yet!!! Can't tell you how good it feels to watch that net actually land in a circle.
This is bye for the best technique i have seen. And have watch about 20 others. After a few minutes practice i was throwing a full net. Thanks for video. Now i am catching 20 and. 30 pound catfish.
I have to laugh at the people who are confused because you’re throwing left-handed and they throw right-handed. 😂 I’m new to throwing a cast net and were it not for this method I wouldn’t bother. Thank you for taking the time to share. It took some practice and I’m getting at least 7/10 nice open nets. Thanks again!
Learning how to cast a net is very frustrating. I've watched several vids and thrown about 50 times since far. I'm really struggling. This technique has worked the best for me so far.
Thank you for that tip this weekend will be the first time I ever threw a cast net at all I'm going to be throwing out of a boat hope all is well your way
Had a surgery on my chin so the old net in the mouth method dad taught me was out while it heals up. Mullet run was going on in South Florida, got to throw the net some how! Watched a few net videos but the distance you get this way is just impressive. I’m sitting here at the beginning like why did he tie on an extra rope? Just had my 7 year old son in the backyard and showed him this method. Folding the top like that made it much easier for him but the 6 ft net is still a little heavy for him. He got it to open on the second attempt. Thanks!
Wow I just loved reading that. Thats really awesome and the reason I made this video. Thanks for taking the time and commenting and writing out this story. Amazing stuff
Thank you very much for the video. It's been about 10 years since I threw my net and last night i couldnt throw for the life of me. This technique is almost exactly how i use to throw and this video was an excellent refresher. Went outside and threw 6 times perfectly in a row, thank you again!
If anyone is having big trouble getting your net to open, try switching your throwing hand to your non dominant hand, I did that and now my net is opening 85% of the time instead of 7% with my dominant hand throwing!!
I've been watching a LOT of these cast net videos, and I think I like this one the best. Going to give this a try this weekend. Thanks and greetings from the States!
@@DuvanvanBreda Well I went out and practiced, and it went badly, I think it was in how I swung, after watching again I don't think I was getting as much rotation to make it open. The version where you gather half the net a bit higher in your strong hand did work well, but I am going to try and make your technique work because I'm stubborn and I just like it better.
THANK YOU! This is so much easier than the way I learned. Hadn't thrown in a few years and was really struggling. follow the process and it opens every time. Easy Peasy.
Big thank you !! I am 71 and could never throw a net before but with your simple technique, I have finally found a way to get all the fresh bait I need. Can not thank you enough.
I'm From Pakistan ... I like your Style to throw Cast Net .... and one major thing that forced me to leave a comment is '' Your motivational message " in the last of the Video i Love it .... Keep it up
When you said literally the easiest it is literally the easiest way to throw a cast net thank you so much especially for the technique the tutorial the expanding views can’t thank you enough
This is exactly how I throw a net and have always done it this way. Watching videos I just couldn't believe how some people throw their nets. This is definitely by far the best way in my opinion. Great video.
I am 67 years old and fish inshore in north west Florida. I throw a 6 foot cast net for bait and have a hard time getting it to pancake. I am going to go try your method this week. Thank you for your demonstration.
I got my net out today and got some banana prawns in the river. But my technique is rubbish. Been so long I had forgotten, and mixed up a few styles.every second cast is dud. That looks so easy. Will try definitely try it tomorrow here in Queensland, Australia. Cheers mate..stay safe
Duvan van Breda man honestly today i went to a nearby river en gave that a try wow every single throw was a nice circle after long time finally today i enjoyed net fishing and hey the resault was 5 nice fishes thanks again and good luck 👍
Thanks for the Vid... I inherrited a cast net and watched some Vids on throwing. Ek het kak gegooi... this worked well and gives better results already in the garden. EXCELLENT!
Thank you for your excellent video. Gotta try this today. Took my first trip to the beach yesterday trying another UA-cam tutorial video, much more complicated, but i couldn’t land it in a circle. I have a 7’ radius and hope this method works as it is the least complicated I’ve seen.
Hello. I’m 72 years old and I’ve had right shoulder surgery(replacement). I’ve still got issues with my right shoulder, so I’m switching to my left side to throw my net. Thnx for your tutorial.
Duvan van Breda I went casting for shrimp left handed with my four-foot net, and did just fine. I’m going again this afternoon with my five-foot heavy net. Thnx again for your tutorial.
I Thank You Very Much From The Heart Brother From Another Mother 💯 Thank You For Effort And Patience To Us Your Style Love It Thank You Once Again For Showing Us That Technique Much Appreciated And Now Here Comes The Practice 🤙
And the net throws....Kak😂😂 I went fishing last weekend for the first time since lockdown and I couldn't cast it properly. Thanks for the video, I'll try it maybe I can get some mullet
Indisputably the best method of throwing a cast net. You definitely won't break a tooth or dislocate a shoulder. After only 5 corrective attempts, I was a big threat to bait fish
😂😂😂 I just imagine people using upper denture biting the net. Some technique I saw the guy bite and put some over his shoulder. This is crazy. You’re absolutely right!
Getting the net to open fully can be a problem that takes a lot of time to master, I'm still struggling to get my 8' radius net to open fully even when I delay the release of the non throw hand or pull back slightly on release! And of course there are good and bad nets like everything else! Working out if it's you or the nasty net you bought is difficult for a beginner!
7:15 Shorten the net when wading in water...thats what I do,,,with a 12ft net,,more difficult, and less coverage with distance throw, but ok. And with practice, ya can throw equally well with left or right handed
Cannot wait to try your technique. And of all I've watched that seems the easiest. I cannot wait to try to catch my own bait. I am a 77-year-old grandmother and I fish whenever I can
Bless your heart sister

Thank you very much
Nice explanation How big is the net you used on the video
6’

Outstanding video, the best and simplest technique I've seen. Going to try it tomorrow.
This is exactly how I throw a net and have always done it this way. Watching videos I just couldn't believe how some people throw their nets. This is definitely by far the best way in my opinion. Great video.
The best technique I’ve seen! Actually the simplest. I just don’t know if works fine with a 12 feet net. My 8 feet worked fine!
I just got my first net and can't wait to try this. Thanks.

Thank you for the video!! your technique is bang on, and you are also right just need to practice practice practice!!!
Very good thank you. I’m a lefty also so it helps to see it the “right way”. =)
So happy to see a lefty like myself. Now I can practice like you. What was the size of your net?
Well done bruh! Learned same technique and always works.
Great vid Duvan, dig the content!

@@diggerash7325 that's amazing bro! That's exactly why I shared it
Can you do one with a 7 foot net please. Enjoyed the right and left arm throws as I am right handed.😊
Thanks for the Vid... I inherrited a cast net and watched some Vids on throwing. Ek het kak gegooi... this worked well and gives better results already in the garden. EXCELLENT!
That was my hope for the video!
It really is what others claim, “The easiest way to throw a castnet!” Thanks!
When using the big heavy nets, use the same technique, but spin around (360) prior to release. The momentum of the swinging net gets the job done.
Like your easy Style lock, load and shoot. Thank you
Really glad u liked it
Hey Bru thanks for that, that is so easy, appreciate that lesson alot.
Will it work on a larger net 9ft or better ???
I think 9ft yes but after that ut might get messy..but I'm sure its possible
Got myself a net, I will be trying this technique for sure! Shot, great demonstration 🤙
Thanks for sharing! hands down that is the best and easy way!!!

You make it look easy...i will try it 😁
This technique worked best for me, thanks mate!
Most impressive! Thank you!
Thx. Good explanation. Will try soon as I can.
Goodluck let me know how it goes
I never thought about lengthening the rope. I'll try that do I can get to schools that are too deep for the way my net is now
What is the best length for a beginners?
6ft I rate maybe 5ft
@@DuvanvanBredaDo you mean that in height or diameter?
thanx duvan.ur a star.thanking u.
This is the first time I have seen anyone else throw a cast net like me or my father who taught me. Literally the easiest way to throw a net!
Same, Ive seen a few techniques though. My buddy holds the net with his mouth 😂
