I have been a fan of John Denver since I was 11 years old and I am now in my mid 60's. Every time I listen to his music, I find something new. John often acknowledged God in his music with his songs like Rocky Mountain High. Although I have listened to this many times, on listening to it again this morning, I realized John is talking with God. It makes John's music even more beautiful and relevant. I was fortunate to have met John Denver in person and had attended one of his environmental symposiums. His legacy lives on
JD had a mastery with setting words to song, and being able to sing those songs with feeling, conviction, and love. His voice soared, just like his music, and seemed to get better with age. I miss him, and the music that he still had inside him.
I'm so glad this is still online. I didn't seen a recent comment so I want leave something positive here today. John Denver never ceased to touch a chord in my soul. This was a beautiful video and song. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
Beautiful video for a beautiful song! JD lives on in his songs and I will miss him along with many others. I’m grateful I got to see a couple of his great concerts in his last years.
That would have given me chills too. I remember feeling so alone in my grief when we lost him. I knew it wasn't the fact by any means, it's just how I felt. In just this last year, I have connected with so many people who love John as I do and I find great comfort in that. God Bless You. Jenni
WE WILL ALWAYS FIND JOHN IN THE SINGING SKIES AND DANCING WATERS, THE GREAT ENVIRONMENTALIST, THE HUMANITARIAN THE POET AND A VOICE LIKE AN ANGEL IN SWEET SIMPLICITY AND PERFECTION
Thank you! This was a piece I heard later in life. But hs music is a personal timeline of life for me. I remember every song and where I was, not in a lament, but a memory that captured everything around me -day, place, weather, who, those special people around me. In addition, while listening I wondered about the future, reflecting on that moment - sounds like BS to all probably. That's ok and I should add not just his music, but others as well. His music though, connecting more than all. I see it all now vividly and clear now, a humble appreciation of then and now.
John was perhaps the most important influence in my life other than my wife. He was, in person, exactly what you heard in the records and what you saw on the screen (or if you were lucky, in concert). John as a true Mensch.
I love John Denver. I.miss him so very much. I felt a connection to him. I always said if I could have had a brother I would want John as my brother. I love nature and so did John. The day he died was so sad. RIP John
The words here probably reflect the majority of nost all, though not reflected upon as such. I remember this from years ago and understand clearly the walk of life that it shares. Not about a bad life, not about a righteous life...just a life. I have lived a life since I first heard it, challenging to say the least - but fortunate. So I try to share that and inspire by actions, and sincerity.
I remember back in the 70s when I was an ignorant teenager and I was into heavier stuff like Aerosmith etc. and we would call John's music "wimpy" etc. but it's amazing as I get older and hear it and appreciate how beautiful John's music is and what a genius he truly was! I wish I could have met him, I've heard he was a very special person...such a tragic loss.
It is always surprising to me when people who hear this song, miss understanding where it comes from. John wrote this song as a testament to his love for Annie but also to show his faith in his Father (God) in Heaven. John was a believer in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Many many of his songs show that belief. John believed that God had made all of us his caretakers here on Earth to take care of his garden. Nearly everything John did stemmed from that belief. John is so missed. No one has really stepped up to fill his shoes in the movement to protect our home. We only have one Earth. Lets try to keep it clean.
Exactly. Whenever I listen to this song i feel Gods arms around me. This is truly a beautiful song and if you truly listen to it you feel the power of the message John was saying in this song. Thank you for sharing. I have John’s cds in the car and always listen to them along with several other singers. Take care and be safe. Right now all I have is my music as due to the virus I’m at home. I have been exposed three times but I’m negative every time. Listening to John’s voice helps me have hope and I try to be positive. To everyone keep the hope and stay positive just like John’s music gives us. Have a great day. Rest In Peace John and one day I’ll see you in Heaven. 🥰💕🌺🌈
Yes. What you said is so very true. There are always going to be someone that will try to put his music down. We all must pray for those as they are lost. Thank you for sharing this with us. 🥰💕🌺🌈
Best decision he ever made was cutting his hair 😂 On a more serious note, I never had the chance to see him live because I wasn't born yet, but I love all his music and I grew up with it. He was an extraordinary man and he deserved everything good. ❤
We think we know people but we really don't have a clue. Annie is still so in love with John. He just couldn't reconcile his past and live the life he really wanted to live. I know, because I have been there. This man's music makes my heart ache.
I love this song , although , it does make me emotional .Singing skies and Dancing waters is so imaginative and beautiful ! I love it so very much . John , oh how I wish you were still with us . Hugs in Heaven .
What a gift John Denver was to us all. His music still resonates today. In the world 🌎 we live in, with so much war going on, his songs heal so many of our hearts. This is a wonderful song, so well crafted, we thank you John, take a bow.✌️ peace everyone.
We used this song as a theme to youth retreat in PHx back in 1978/79. By the end of the weekend we were all sharing tears over how it moved the hearts of all of us. Never will forget it!
As with many of John's lyrical compositions, he forges a deep connection between love - which is at the core of our humanity - with our spirituality, in this song. It is for this reason that his music will remain relevant. I hope we never lose sight of it. Thank you for sharing this. Delightful!
I had never heard this song until I found it on your channel. I must have listened to it hundreds of times ever since. Thank you for making JD so available when I need to listen to his songs.
🥀Amazing Song! He was such a brilliant singer song writer talents beyond his own time and I've been listening to him since the 60's on up I miss him.🥀☝️🥀🕊🥀
You're so welcome! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! It was in my mind for days too. Someone commented in a John Denver group that I'm a part of that it was 'pleasantly stuck' in their mind as well and that was what made me think to put this together. :) Have a great day!...Jenni
Amazing. I heard this 30 years ago and thought he was speaking about Annie. The mark of a skilled lyricsmith is crafting words that can be interpreted in multiple ways. Just now I'm realizing JD was also speaking of his faith in God. In nature personified he hears God speaking, and knows he isn't alone., and he won't be alone as he grows old, as he continues to mature. Whether he has the faith to believe or not. Beautiful. It appears John Denver had difficulty believing in the claims of Christ, as the only door to eternal life. Publicly, he never made that profession of faith. St Augustine says, " our hearts are restless until it finds itself in Him. Along with many, the music of JD strikes a very deep chord in my soul , tears of sadness for him in this regard. Perhaps we'll never know for sure on this side of eternity. Nonetheless, brilliant and beautiful as only John Denver can do
In his autobiography, he says that he turned away from Christianity because a Sunday school teacher didn't have a good answer to one of his questions and was told that he had to take it by faith. Can't recall what his question was, or even if he addresses that in the book.
Thanks for posting this very beautiful video with this song and with his real true love, the lovely Annie! I don't want to disrespect his daughter Jesse Belle, God Bless her, but Annie was John's true love. I wonder if this is one of Annie's favorite songs? It would be mine if I were her:) it makes me cry when I hear it! Miss him and so does the world. We need more people like John and Annie:) Peace!
This is another song I love......thank you so much, John......your Soul shines in your songs and words.....bless you always, for this is how I feel about Life and living forms....I MISS YOU!!!!!
Thank you so much! Your kind words mean so much to me! This song was in my mind for days before I had the realization that I should put together a video for it. When I started to search for photos for it, I realized I already had them saved and they seemed like they were perfect for it. Now with your kind words and the comments from others, I'm sure of it. :) Have a great weekend!
Dear Jen, This work was inspired by John, he was my friend and Annie is one of my closest friends. I went to youtube especially to forward this song to my J.D. friends on FB and couldn't resist sending it to Annie as well. She Co-Founded John Denver Aspenglow Fund with me and we are very close, so I am careful with what I share. It just felt like she/ Annie was meant to see this as it represents John's Eternal Love for Annie.
reallylove this song, for me this song represent whenever we feel so lonely, and almost to lose our faith and think that God existence far from us, God actually always be there near us that we can feel his presence in nature we see
