Here's my post ; ------- In 2016 after being a labor union organizer and activist for 25 years, I'd given so much of myself....... I took a motorcycle trip from my home near Atlanta to Seattle, Washington and back. On the way I was going through Montana had my earbuds in and was listening to John Denver's greatest hits. Loved John and his music since the early 70's, his song Sunshine on my Shoulders was our song, Sue and I, I lost her to another and it breaks my heart everytime I hear it. John in my opinion is the greatest male singer I've ever heard, he can stand up there and effortlessly and sing song after song in perfect pitch, hardly a break in between, his vocals are amazing, his ability to sustain notes for long periods of time are unsurpassed. John is a natural singer, sure I've heard hundreds of great singers but none compare to John's amazing talent. When I heard he'd been killed in a small plane accident I was taken to my knees, a talent like his can never be duplicated and especially his ability to write hit song after hit song, he was brilliant. The world just don't seem the same without John...I often wonder what he would think of the world now....his spirit surely lives on in his music and for me it has been a comfort since I was very young...I had a little cassette player that I would play his tapes over and over for hours learning the lyrics to his songs...and then at the tender age of 11 I was given a Sears and Roebuck 3/4 size guitar....I would spend hours hold up in my bedroom learning the chords to his songs....at 60 years old I continue to hone my playing and singing his wonderful music....we all sure miss you John...❤️❤️❤️

Oh I long for the days gone by. John Denver's music brings back memories of the good ole days. I used to listen to his music all the time. Broke my heart when he died. Years later I still remember the words to all of his songs. RIP my friend.
John Denver had a unique voice which was comforting, peaceful and could touch the listener's heart. A terrific writer of songs that tell a story. He was in a class all by himself.
Not only his singing was the main trademark, he was a good host in Johnny Carson shows and a actress. He was very talent in all level. His music inspired me as a teenager and even today at 62 I still listen to this gifted man
Sweet Surrender........ every time I hear this LIVE!!! I find tears rolling down my face. RIP John!! You're sorely missed. It was a privelege to have known you. I cannot understand how a songwriter/singer can write something as deep as this without their voice quavering in concert. It means a great deal especially at this time in my life.
Poetry set to music. Saw him in concert in Pittsburgh in the 70's. He was on stage for over 2 hours. He stayed and played and sang and talked even when his band took a break. I fall asleep many nights listening to him on CDs.Never be another like him. Love your music John Denver.
What I like most of John Denver is the way he tremulus his voice. He is the only folk rock and country composer and singer who can create an even vibrato in his songs!!!
Still love his voice. So many of his songs are about his connection to nature. Wonderful. I remember going to Colorado for the first time. I was driving my rental car up into the mountains and playing his music. Brought tears to my eyes.
No, not one in a million.... Just the one... that changed lives for a century to come... I pick this song on the guitar, note for note, to my wife... For you... Always...
He was one of a kind. His music was like a breath of fresh air and the honesty in his voice when he sang was tremendously moving. The albums were great but to be fully appreciated you had see him live. He could really move people , and in front of an audience was when he was at his best , and in his own words"... It's something that's inside me Not hard to understand It's anyone who'll listen to me sing.."
A great composer, singer, a n unmistakeable voice. An irreplaceable talent, so tragically taken from us too early. One of the saddest, unexplainable losses to the world !

As a 52 year old guy. John just reminds me of my mother, I don't know why. My dad used to play him in the car on long trips. whenever I think of my mum I play a Denver song. God bless John my mum and my dad. Thank you John (if you can hear me) for making those long road trips fun, and my mother and father for introducing me to fantastic music. Memories gather round you.
John Denver, a beautiful soul, a great talent and a national treasure! No one can sing his music like he did, or even come close, with his clear, strong, magnificent voice. I never grow tired of hearing him, time and time again. I am proud to be native to the state he chose to make his home. He left us way too soon, but I know he is making beautiful music in heaven!
Today, October 12, 2021 marks the day John Denver was taken from us in 1997. I remember the day we lost him like it’s frozen in time. I awoke to a phone call from my then husband telling me that our JD had been killed in an airplane accident. I remember everything I did that day with the weight of such a loss on my heart. Next year, 2022, will be the 25th anniversary of his death. The years have gone by so fast haven’t they? But he left us with the gifts of all the wonderful songs he wrote for us throughout his life on earth. I’m sure he’s looking down on us from heaven saying FAR OUT!
I think he was a vessel used of God,I am not one to judge, but he seemed to be in acoord with His creatures. I remember him saying that if he came back,it would be as an Eagle,if im wrong correct me,he seemed to believe like the Native Americans ,that i have a high regard for,as in one of my favorites,The Eagle and the Hawk,a song that comes alive from the start. I was 10 in 1970 and loved his music by 1975,he inspired me to love the six string and what it does for the heart,i dont know all his songs, but they bring back nearly 50 yrs of memories in my life, certainly an American icon.

I wish they would re-release it on DVD -- along with other recordings that are in a vault somewhere. 25th anniversary is next year and I know I would buy anything that I don't already have, music or DVD. I hope he knows how much we still miss him, listen to him and revere him. Really wonderful human being.
It was released on DVD but not in current circulation. He was a wonderful singer, songwriter and performer, but like many great artists, a flawed human being in his personal life.
@@newhopemedia What's the point of talking about his flaws? Can't we just enjoy this musical mastermind for his beautiful music? Instead of trying to bring up the fact that he's human..? Why would we expect anyone to be perfect?
@@Jkaye13 well in the context of violence against women his two marital relationships are relevant and he obliquely referenced these relationships in at least two of his songs trying to make amends. So, if his flaws influenced his song writing, then they are completely relevant.

John Denver is no longer physically with us, but lives with us thanks to his immense and incomparable work that can accompany our lives every day. John said that it is not important if our life was long or short, it was important to leave the (positive) sign of our passage on this planet ... he left this sign in a big way and all the gifts that God gave him he gave, he shared them with us.. I carry him with me every day and his presence makes me feel good, however, it makes my life better, including relationships with other people. John loved to get into people's hearts and I'd say he succeeded. Thanks John!!
I appreciate the complement, particularly as music mixing wasn’t my main audio engineering genre. I usually concentrated on drama and documentary post production and still do.

He was truly inspired to bring these beautiful sounds to us. It takes me away to a younger time and fills my heart with love and gratitude for my own spouse and kids, in the present. His message was love,I think this is what life is all about it's all about love. And to think that he was terrified to sing in public as a Young Man. I'm so grateful that he saw beyond his own fears to bring us this great contribution

Yes JD was one of the greatest ever. My wife Kate and I saw him in concert five times: Sydney Opera House (22 Nov 1977), Calgary Canada (2 Sep 1980), Hong Kong (30 May 1983), Perth twice (12 June 1988) and (1 Dec 1994). In Perth I wrote to the promoters about how important his music was in our lives. He actually read my letter (he even recalled our names !) and we were invited backstage in 1980 and again 1994. Both times we had a drink with him and a long chat. He was a lovely down-to-earth man. Regrettably many people only know his early country songs, not his far better work later in his life. Happily I sing his songs in my own concerts nowadays. A great loss to all lovers of beautiful music and meaningful songs. RIP JD xx Shack & Kate

@@georgerussell5225 I thought I would never stop crying too. Boy was I a mess. I would cry myself to sleep. John has been my all time favorite male singer since 1971. I was 17 at the time when “ Take Me Home Country Roads” I was hooked. For years that was all I listened to. I was addicted to his music. I’m 70 now and he’s still my favorite male singer.
Such a pure strong voice and beautiful music. I saw John many times in concert and he always gave his all . What a loss the world suffered on that dreadful October day. Miss you John so much 💔
The first time I ever saw John Denver at the Bournemouth International Centre in the U.K. with his full amazing band, I still class this as the most amazing two hours of my life….so sadly missed.
Thank You John, my first concert age 6, and moved from NY to Colorado at age 24. Rocky Mountain High is real. My first Love. My second the Colorado Land. xo
What a wonderful story❤ good for you! I had his posters on my wall played my cassette over and over too. I'm a vocalist ,learned several, sang them at shows annies song at weddings ❤ my heart still smiles when I hear him sing and play🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
John Denver could sing about life when it sucks, and he could sing about life when it's fulfilling. He was our man, one of us and that will never be duplicated. (RIP Friend)
John was an American Balladeer or Troubadour 👍. He is an amazing man & songs about human KIND and Nature and awareness of our Mother
JOHN DENVER WAS MY FIRST CONCERT WHEN I WAS 12 YEARS OLD AND STILL LOVE HIS MUSIC 45 YEARS LATER.
A friend in college introduced me to him.His music is one of a kind.I cried so hard when he died. The environmental was his way to get people to care about their surrounding.
It's been a while since you left us, John, and if you could read all the kind and loving remarks of your life, your character, your music, incredible voice, you would know how loved and appreciated you were and are. Your lyrics and delivery are a gift to the world. Know that as long as this earth exists you will never really leave us. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us.
John Denver is an American icon, his place has never been filled since he left us too soon.
Brings me to tears every time, always has. John Denver was a powerful force in his purity, his goodness, his talents. We are just so blessed to have shared life with him, for a time, too short.
So beautifully said - thank you 🙏
What a magnificent voice and such passion. I was lucky enough to attend his concert in Brisbane in 1994 and my love of his music has not waned.
John Denver had such a talent I love listening to his voice, he will go on being the voice of country with a voice that brings tears to your eyes ,it’s lovely.
Every generation should have a John Denver. After all these years his music is uplifting.
A men Amen
He is what every generation should listen and do. Simple and easy to understand. RIP JD
Oh I long for the days gone by. John Denver's music brings back memories of the good ole days. I used to listen to his music all the time. Broke my heart when he died. Years later I still remember the words to all of his songs. RIP my friend.
He was wondeful
He was wondeful, after all these years I still love his music
John Denver had a unique voice which was comforting, peaceful and could touch the listener's heart. A terrific writer of songs that tell a story. He was in a class all by himself.

My mother who never liked music found joy in John's music at the age of 95!

On the road.. ❤❤❤
Amazing story !
Indeed. Amazing story.
How can anyone not like music ?
John Denver is another amazing gift God gave to humanity. I hope he knew how much he was loved and how he is missed!💕
Not only his singing was the main trademark, he was a good host in Johnny Carson shows and a actress. He was very talent in all level. His music inspired me as a teenager and even today at 62 I still listen to this gifted man
Exactly. Me too back in the 70s . And I'm glued today
I always sing along out loud to the chorus.
Me,too, & sometimes during the verses. 😉
Hi there how did you know John Denver? He was an awesome for out talent
Poetry set to music. Saw him in concert in Pittsburgh in the 70's. He was on stage for over 2 hours. He stayed and played and sang and talked even when his band took a break. I fall asleep many nights listening to him on CDs.Never be another like him. Love your music John Denver.
Saw John Denver at least seven times and each was an ethereal experience. Cried more than a few times for our loss.
My mother left me but she left Annie's song in my heart 💖
Awesime !! ⚓⛵💎
I too go to sleep with John Denver on phone
What I like most of John Denver is the way he tremulus his voice. He is the only folk rock and country composer and singer who can create an even vibrato in his songs!!!
Still love his voice. So many of his songs are about his connection to nature. Wonderful. I remember going to Colorado for the first time. I was driving my rental car up into the mountains and playing his music. Brought tears to my eyes.
Truly a great American singer, songwriter and human being who touched many lives and hearts.
Splendid
My favourite song u fill up my senses ❤
Sorry sorry sweetheart miss u so much
'Sing it with me'. What a delightful way to include his audience. He was one in a million.
It's something that's inside me
Not hard to understand
It's anyone who'll listen to me sing.."
I’m so sad I never got to see him live.
Me too
I believe he was a gift from God to us
A great composer, singer, a n unmistakeable voice. An irreplaceable talent, so tragically taken from us too early. One of the saddest, unexplainable losses to the world !
John what an amazing voice you were blessed with. And it’s so great to hear your own compositions. So very sad to lose you to this world so early in your life. A fan from Australia ❤ 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Yes. He was one of my 1st artists I listened to in the 70's for sure
Saw John in Cork in 1986 it was amazing something I was so lucky to have being at I my life
John you were THE BEST ♡! You died even before I was born so I wasnt able to see or hear you sing live but after so many years I adore your music and I'm glad that we have these recordings. Nowaday world needs someone soulpure like you. Thank you for your music which helps me in dark times or makes me happy in good times.
John Denver was a vessel of God. He had a song for absolutely every occasion. Miss him immensely
@@kennethb.drinkard2010 He was beyond special in his depth of thought and gave us words to live by and ponder.

Too bad he didn't know it.
Simply the best singer songwriter ever. I was fortunate enough to see him live at the Appollo theatre in Manchester, and he was utterly brilliant. What a talent. His music will live on. RIP John Denver.

I just returned from Aspen where I visited the John Denver Sanctuary. I miss him so much.
He was a great song writer, diner, guitar player, and humanitarian! Miss him !!!❤️
I wish they would re-release it on DVD -- along with other recordings that are in a vault somewhere.
@@newhopemedia
What's the point of talking about his flaws? Can't we just enjoy this musical mastermind for his beautiful music? Instead of trying to bring up the fact that he's human..? Why would we expect anyone to be perfect?
@@Jkaye13 well in the context of violence against women his two marital relationships are relevant and he obliquely referenced these relationships in at least two of his songs trying to make amends. So, if his flaws influenced his song writing, then they are completely relevant.
when i was young i thought it wasn't cool to like john denver. now i love his music and i don't care who knows it. i'm 69. this one is one of my favorites. beautiful.
Just ....WOW...had no idea how much I missed this man. now i`m crying my eyes out.
Same!! John brings me back to the sweet times of my youth, when life was simple and carefree and his music was everywhere..
I used to sing this song out loud on my own quest. So grateful to be reminded of this beautiful ballad. All of his songs are so heartfelt and meaningful. 😌💜
With all of his talents, his voice for me is electrifying. Such power there. Thank you John for all that we enjoy today, given by you.
His voice had such range. Just when I’m convinced he’s a tenor, which he is, he sings what I just heard, and he’s a baritone. ❤
Pure talent. Every song from his heart. He loved music.
Being an over-the-road truck driver for 47 years this song makes me tear up every, I mean every time I hear it. R.I.P.
I am a Bolivian citizen but I do love country music.
God bless truckies everywhere ❤🇦🇺❤

One of the best audio recording... live of JD....All the balance are great and music is equally will represented . BR
I appreciate the complement, particularly as music mixing wasn’t my main audio engineering genre. I usually concentrated on drama and documentary post production and still do.
I forgot this song was here on this track. It says so much about John and his musical talents and thoughts. Thanks for sharing!!! Smile down on us.🙏

Heard you sing Rocky Mountain High on the radio in 1969 & was hooked from then on!
RIP John Denver. Thank you for the exvcellent music

John Denver was one of a kind.never ever be another one like him..we were blessed with his music
I was born in 1954, i grew up listening to John Denver in the UK, he was my favourite artist, although he tragically passed in 1997, i still miss him and his songs. God bless. On my 'before i kick the bucket' list was to visit the USA and the places in his songs, and to pay my homage too him at his graveside, then this pandemic hit, i am still determined to for fill that promise that i made to myself!
What a great idea.
I would love to do the same...he has had such a positive influence on my life...miss you John! Vin, where exactly is his gravesite?! Thanks!

Hello 👋 Michelle. How are you doing ? Hope are you fine. I'm Scott Clifford and am from Denver Colorado, where are you from. You seem like a real country girl
In 2016 after being a labor union organizer and activist for 25 years, I'd given so much of myself....... I took a motorcycle trip from my home near Atlanta to Seattle, Washington and back. On the way I was going through Montana had my earbuds in and was listening to John Denver's greatest hits. It's then when it seemed like I was hearing Sweet Surrender for the first time. It made me realize that perhaps John and I had both passed through the same crisis and questioning of life that I was hearing in this song. No one else could put to words his feelings so poignantly as John. I've appreciated his music for many years. I'm certain he's entertaining the Saints and angels in Heaven now...
I love John Denver songs since I was 13, now I'm 63. Still missing him.

I just tear up when I listen to John Denver. Bringing back such lovely memories of our travels in the USA when we were living there in 1974 to 1976 with my brothers and parents.
Zachary, my fiance is home from a long day I mentioned. And we're going to start working on planning our long awaited wedding and I promise you that your Dad's music will be playing at our wedding. John loved his family and friends. He loved the mountains and the ocean. But he loved to sing and play his guitar. His music and his voice is as pure and beautiful as the Colorado mountains. Thanks to you tube for having the John Denver videos. I loved him then and I still love him and his songs today. He's truly missed.
I’m glad you were able to listen to and enjoy my small part in bringing John’s music to more fans around the world. While I mixed these songs over 26 years ago they still sound as fresh and alive as his performance of them was at the time.
