This 15 year old video is a lot more useful than those 10 to 20 minutes long videos nowadays ones! Very useful video, I'm considering buying an used one 'cuz money is short and a G29 is too expensive even in used condition.
Got mine today soo worth the money have not stopped playing it soo sweet to drive with you can actually feel the car and the 6 speed H pattern shifter amazing with the cluth to you is brilliant buy it.
That mostly depends on the game. In the game shown in this video (Live for Speed or just "LFS"), clutch works exactly like that. It's maybe even bit too strict. Plus, its possible to overheat the clutch.
Ive had my G25 since late 2007 and its by far the best thing ive ever bought for my computer. If you really want theres loads of mods out there for them too
you dont need to push the clutch in to brake, you need to when you come to a stop, but if your just slowing down you dont need to unless your downshifting
@tammelol Did you even read my post dude? Padles were first seen in F1, and they're there so they don't have to take their hand off the wheel to shift, if the padles didn't move with the wheel, then they would need to take their hand off the wheel to shift. It's a different story for road cars like the 458. Having padles that don't move with the wheel on a road car can be excused, but on a race car, you don't move the wheel more then 180*, so you never take your hand off the wheel.
Wow, if I were thinking of getting one, your video made me run to the store. Now It's mine, and it's really a GREAT wheel. A bit expensive, but it absolutely worth the money. The only thing I feel a bit weak, is the shifter stick, but probably is just me. Very cool toy!
All depends on the game, like in gtr2 you must use the clutch to pull out, after that it is up to you, like a real sequential shifting car. But you have to have a clutch to use advanced techniques like double clutching and heel and toe downshifting, both of which I rarely use because it seems to slow me down. I do however use the clutch for all shifting.
I am glad you stuck with it,believe me,it will be much more rewarding in the end.Once you have used it for awhile the fatigue will ease. Its only my opinion but using a wheel(a good one) gives a whole new feel to a game, the likes of Dirt 2&3,F1 2010,GTR Evolution,to name but a few. G25&27 are both very good wheels imo. There is a new one out called the Thrustmaster T500 RS but its a bit pricey.I dont know whats its like to use but i wouldnt mind ago.
the best game to play this will be ran Turismo 5 when it comes out, what i have heard is this can actually teach you how to drive aswell with clutch being available so people can learn to drive but not at normally pace if you know what i mean.
@Joel0277 Kind of but no... when you speed the turbo pressure builds up, then when u let go of the speed, some of the turbo pressure gets wastet out of a valve. The more pressure, the more sound you get.. that nice sounding splyshhh sound! And since you let go of the speed when you gear, that sound comes!
@tammelol No they shouldn't. The whole point of having padle shifters is so you don't need to take your hands off the wheel. If they don't move, then you need to take your hands off the wheel.
@dbzkid161 Depends on the game I think. In Test Drive Unlimited, you can't shit unless you hold down the clutch, and if you're idling you have to either be in neutral or you'll stall.
yup you can its just kind of annoying because the pedals go in too easy and the clutch has a really short stroke and the shift throw is way short. also because of game physics not being advanced Enough, the clutch can be let out pretty fast so its not really fastter to h-t down shift
@DVAFP according to Wiki: unlike G25, G27 doesn't have a sequential mode in its shifter stick. only H-pattern mode is available on the shifter stick. G27 has more buttons on the steering wheel too.. but the G25 only supports until Windows Vista.. that is what Wiki says...
If you haven't figured it out already, there is a setting under options where you can change clutch from "Button" to something else, I think "Axis" or "pedal" not sure what it calls it, and a similar setting for the shifter, I think it's "auto" "sequential" and then a third option for the H shifter. I don't get to use those settings though because I only have a DFP =( lol
Well most racing cars today have a sequential gear box. So they don't have a clutch pedal but this wheel has everything! Clutch pedal IS essential for the full driving experience (minus actual car).
It wouldn't be the problem of the hardware itself. Like shown in the video, the shifter was moveable without the depressing of the clutch. The shifting system will depend on the game and the drivers for the G25 that work with the game. So far, the one game that I've heard people use it with is Test Drive Unlimited or something so if the shifting works without the clutch being depressed, it's the games fault.
it isn't the same because in this steering wheel the gear shift is very light, with one finger you change the gears, in a real car it's heavier. Of course that the clutch/shift system works the same way, but the clutch in real life is not so easy to control. But, sure, for someone who is learning this helps with the basics :)
with the brackets that are on there it does feel like you can break it, havent yet... like the vid says it does have mounting holes in the bottom of the control. if your serious about driving, put some holes in your table. Rock Solid!
What are your PC Specs and brand used with this game and Logitech controls? Amazing video. I'm buying a computer once you let me know. Unlimited budget. Thanks.
well depends i think last time i tried to but the steering from ebay i found loose parts like the shifter and pedals but i dont think you will be able to make them work without the steering since they connect to the steering which then connects to the computer via a single usb port
If you think about it, it isn't very car like, the gear stick is 4 inches long, normal shifters are about 8 inches long, and it's way too high up, and last time i shifted in a car, it didn't make a clicking noise :s it just sounds to plasticy and lacks the cadunk sound you get when you actually shift, instead of click click click
this will be great on motorm4x, i just ordered this an hr ago i so cant wait for it, umm just wondering is it hard to set up? any cds that come with it that is used for install?
No, I didn't mean anything against the reviewer, he is very good, I'm just worried that the Brake pedal is too far away from the throttle for the ideal heal and toe technique?? Does anyone else agree?
yes calvintaor, there is a version that works with ps3 and ps2. Gran turismo 5 support clutch i dont know where in uk you can buy it though, use google and then check if the site is trusted
i suggest you to put rubber where you put the clamps, like the ones you use to go to the gym,the thicker the better that will prevent any damage caused from the force feedbak
I have a few questions..First,when you take off in manual mode do you need to slowly release the clutch pedal or can you take it off instantly and the car wont die? Secondly, when you change gears if you dont press the clutch will it change and will the gear knob disangage without pressing the clutch. Thanks in advance.
keep in mind that this racing wheel was designed for simulators. grid is arcade! pld live 4 speed, test drive unlimited and GTR2 with this wheel and i can say nothing feels as real as this...
as in a car ^^ No, but it depends on the game that you are playing. Some games, like Test Drive, have support for all three pedals and then it works just as in real life =)
a question about g25. do you move slow when you step on the gas lightly, then go fast when you step deeper? also, do you need to release the clutch pedal slowly when shifting at gear 1? just curious about g25's realistic features.
with manual gears the engine will slow the car and by keeping the clutch engaged while braking gives faster braking and more control, you don't brake while coasting?
should i buy the g25 or g27? i kind of like sequential shifting especially for RBR but g27 seems like a better wheel so i'm not sure which to buy. help me kame up my mind.
ok i have one more question...when ever u press on the gas pedal, can u like press it a little bit so the car will go slower or do u just go at a maximum speed???
I'm thinking about buying this wheel, but the clicking noise when you change gear isn't too loud is it? Would it get annoying for other people in the room?
The only problem with this in my opinion, is that the paddle shifters are attached to the steering wheel and they move as the wheel moves, paddle shifters should be separate from the wheel in my opinion.
I have one of these, great on tdu for the PC i have an xbox 360, i really hope they bring some drivers/support to the console for this badboy maybe by xmas with the new dash console?
The shifter is NOT cheap. its similar to the Act-labs Gated shifter. what your hearing is not cheap plastic, its metal on metal. its very durable. I'm about to order one of these to replace my aging Act-labs setup. that way I can finally Play with a proper wheel on both PS2 and PC, the onlything i'm waiting or hoping for is an XBOX 360 adapter similar to the XFPS 360.
well the download is a trial of the full game, a free trial you can download and play for 60 minutes, after that you can decide whether you want to buy it or not.
Rigs of Rods is a freeware driving simulator, the graphics are not great but it is very realistic, you can stall and do everything else you would expect in a real car.
This is the only guy on UA-cam in 2006 that had a decent camera
This 15 year old video is a lot more useful than those 10 to 20 minutes long videos nowadays ones!
Very useful video, I'm considering buying an used one 'cuz money is short and a G29 is too expensive even in used condition.
I've had my G25 for nearly 5 years and had no problems! It's done me good and never let me down!
Do you still have it? 15 years after you bought it?
I still have mine and it still works flawlessly
The whell and the pedal, every thing is awesome...
Got mine today soo worth the money have not stopped playing it soo sweet to drive with you can actually feel the car and the 6 speed H pattern shifter amazing with the cluth to you is brilliant buy it.

Actually left foot braking is quite common in racing and saves time by being able to tap the brakes without moving your foot from the throttle
The polished shoes guy could learn some heel-and-toe hahaha
i like the way it demonstrate all the features, nice review, now i have to test the wheel myself
Wow, if I were thinking of getting one, your video made me run to the store. Now It's mine, and it's really a GREAT wheel.
A bit expensive, but it absolutely worth the money. The only thing I feel a bit weak, is the shifter stick, but probably is just me.
Very cool toy!
It doesn't, but if you're using the shifters on the wheel you could make the stick operate as a hand brake.
All depends on the game, like in gtr2 you must use the clutch to pull out, after that it is up to you, like a real sequential shifting car. But you have to have a clutch to use advanced techniques like double clutching and heel and toe downshifting, both of which I rarely use because it seems to slow me down. Very nice man, good skills, shows the performance of the G25, can't wait to get this baby for Christmas woot woot
the best game to play this will be ran Turismo 5 when it comes out, what i have heard is this can actually teach you how to drive aswell with clutch being available so people can learn to drive but not at normally pace if you know what i mean.

its compatible with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Playstation 3, and you can use the clutch also.
@tammelol No they shouldn't. The whole point of having padle shifters is so you don't need to take your hands off the wheel. If they don't move, then you need to take your hands off the wheel.

@liquidpersuasion racing steering wheels are actually quite smaller than your "normal" car steering wheel.
GT5 does support this wheel. It even has a preset for it.
@MrGoldenmarin Its more precise when u use a wheel instead of a controller cuz u have to have the moiton of driving obv u dont.
Well most racing cars today have a sequential gear box. So they don't have a clutch pedal but this wheel has everything! Clutch pedal IS essential for the full driving experience (minus actual car).
This is the mother of all racing wheels for pc i think
i want to get it this week for my birthday
damn this is so cool
Yes it is. All G25 wheels work for the PC, PS2, and PS3.
It wouldn't be the problem of the hardware itself.
Like shown in the video, the shifter was moveable without the depressing of the clutch.

So far, the one game that I've heard people use it with is Test Drive Unlimited or something so if the shifting works without the clutch being depressed, it's the games fault.
it might be expensive but u get a lot for ur money... i had mine for half a year and i use it almost every day.. it is a fantasic product
Looks great! I assume left foot braking does work? My Momo isn't able to. It's either brake or accelerate.
it isn't the same because in this steering wheel the gear shift is very light, with one finger you change the gears, in a real car it's heavier. Of course that the clutch/shift system works the same way, but the clutch in real life is not so easy to control. But, sure, for someone who is learning this helps with the basics :)
A better idead would be a handbrake by the shifter, sports cars don't have a handbrake on the steering wheel for the most part
just got my wheel its amazing, well done Logitech
yes you can and for gt5 you need the clutch when using manual
with the brackets that are on there it does feel like you can break it, havent yet...
like the vid says it does have mounting holes in the bottom of the control. if your serious about driving, put some holes in your table. Rock Solid!

well depends i think last time i tried to but the steering from ebay i found loose parts like the shifter and pedals but i dont think you will be able to make them work without the steering since they connect to the steering which then connects to the computer via a single usb port
You can depending on which sim you're using.

The G25 used straight cut gears, but the G27 uses helical gears which will feel much better and make much less noise.
thats got to be the best PC wheel ever made.
recently bought the logitech g25 it drives me mad it is sooooooo coooool and good!!! you would definity want one for christmass!!
great steer.
but i would like the clutch going deeper, the gear shift to be heavier and of course....a handbrake.
this will be great on motorm4x, i just ordered this an hr ago i so cant wait for it, umm just wondering is it hard to set up? any cds that come with it that is used for install?

Gran turismo 5 support clutch
i dont know where in uk you can buy it though, use google and then check if the site is trusted
i suggest you to put rubber where you put the clamps, like the ones you use to go to the gym,the thicker the better that will prevent any damage caused from the force feedbak
@dbzkid161 not to mention that you use it for more then just shifting , that is rev up your car etc in drift games etc :p
The g25 brake pedal is bull without the NIXIM brake mod - seriously, best tenner you'll ever spend.
man i wish Logitech would make a racing seats that vibrates as you're driving as well :D
I have a few questions..First,when you take off in manual mode do you need to slowly release the clutch pedal or can you take it off instantly and the car wont die? Secondly, when you change gears if you dont press the clutch will it change and will the gear knob disangage without pressing the clutch. Thanks in advance.
Great video and set up.
dude this thing is awesome!
It's like a real car.
not really, driving clutch is more difficult than that. you have to be precise with the timing or you will stall.
If they don't mind the rumble of the engines, they won't be annoyed by the gear changing...
I'm assuming you can use the gearlever on the left hand side, as I'm British and we don't drive on the right.
keep in mind that this racing wheel was designed for simulators. grid is arcade! pld live 4 speed, test drive unlimited and GTR2 with this wheel and i can say nothing feels as real as this...
as in a car ^^
No, but it depends on the game that you are playing. Some games, like Test Drive, have support for all three pedals and then it works just as in real life =)
a question about g25. do you move slow when you step on the gas lightly, then go fast when you step deeper? also, do you need to release the clutch pedal slowly when shifting at gear 1? just curious about g25's realistic features.
do you think you would really break the clutch from overuse? is it really that easy?
im a bit scared now!
No video game steering wheel that I know of has a hand brake. In fact, I don't think any of them have a hand brake.
OMG!! A clutch!!! I am sooo buying this!
with manual gears the engine will slow the car and by keeping the clutch engaged while braking gives faster braking and more control, you don't brake while coasting?
should i buy the g25 or g27? i kind of like sequential shifting especially for RBR but g27 seems like a better wheel so i'm not sure which to buy. help me kame up my mind.
@dbzkid161 you either break your engine, gearbox in game or it does auto-clutch
It's times like these that I wish GT5 was avalible for PC. :(
ok i have one more question...when ever u press on the gas pedal, can u like press it a little bit so the car will go slower or do u just go at a maximum speed???
Does the clutch really responds like a real clutch.
@dbzkid161 Depends on the rules of the game you're playing.
I'm thinking about buying this wheel, but the clicking noise when you change gear isn't too loud is it? Would it get annoying for other people in the room?
now stores sell the G27 its the same price but newer and if theres a bestbuy where you live they sell G27 there
don't diss live for speed man, best car sim out there.
perfect, i have Logitech WingMan Force FeedBack
but this Logitech G25 is very simulation!!!!
i will buy!!
The only problem with this in my opinion, is that the paddle shifters are attached to the steering wheel and they move as the wheel moves, paddle shifters should be separate from the wheel in my opinion.
I have one of these, great on tdu for the PC i have an xbox 360, i really hope they bring some drivers/support to the console for this badboy maybe by xmas with the new dash console?
if your getting too much oversteer its because your pushing the throttle to hard, ease off the throttle a bit.
Hola buen video, me podrias decir cuanto cuesta.Gracias.
Driving Force GT? It should. I have one but havent used it with my laptop though, but i assume it would as it is USB and works with PC and PS3
buy the g25 its better, i have tested it at my friends, its perfect for driving. an it is worth buying. i'm getting it in 2 weeks time. nice video
well the download is a trial of the full game, a free trial you can download and play for 60 minutes, after that you can decide whether you want to buy it or not.
I'm getting this badboy tomorrow. Can't wait to finally retire my Momo Force wheel.
@WESTSIEEDE depends if your right on the peak of performance lol :P
Rigs of Rods is a freeware driving simulator, the graphics are not great but it is very realistic, you can stall and do everything else you would expect in a real car.
Why is he in cockpit view though?
In Spain 180€ = 255 $ more or less.
But it´s really nice to play Sim games like GTR and rFactor, woww!
I read all about it just now, seems like the people still lean toward the g25 over the fanatec.
does the clutch pedal work with the controller separate from the game or does the game have to support the clutch pedal in order to use it?
or Grid.. im not sure if it supports it
Thank you sir.
Does it play on also work on xbox 360?
By the way Awesome steer!
then how do you hand brake? does it have some buttons behind the wheel which work as a hand brake?
this helped me pass my driving test.
cant wait to get it!!! G25+playseat+GT5 woooooohooooooo
yes, if the game supports manual clutch.
