Thank you for your great videos. I have two airdales and have had them professionally groomed for years. To manage the cost, I let them get really long. I have wanted to chagne this to groom them myself, but was very timid. Sunday I groomed my younger dog using your videos, looking at a video at a time, then cutting Astro. He turned out great! I cut my older dog last night. Neither behaved as good as Coco, but they did ok. Thanks for posting these!!!
You handle that dog very well, I like the way you talk to her and praise her and give her a treat for being good. I see the way the dirty coat causes the clippers to drag, despite you having thoroughly combed Zoey out before-hand. Thank you for posting this video tutorial.
Our Airedale (who went over the Rainbow bridge 5 years ago) was 3/4 Airedale and 1/4 Smooth Fox Terrier; hence, she had a shorter coat and needed a lot less grooming and trimming. Airedales are the best all-'rounder and our next dog will be another Airedale. Enjoyed the informative video!
Thank you for posting this series of videos. I have just groomed my dog for the first time following your tuition. I'm pleased with the result considering I'm an amateur! It's funny watching Zoe as she has all the same mannerisms as my Airedale Jess. Now I've got to clean up all the hair!!!
Thank you so much for these videos! I've been wanting to learn how to groom my own Airedale (as well as my parents'!) for some time now. Your videos really helped me get a handle on what I needed to do, and after watching them a few times, I finally groomed my own girl and was VERY pleased with the results! Thanks again!
Thanks so much for the suggestion! I never thought of airforcing the hair. I'm going to give it a try. Most dogs don't like the bathing/drying process, which is why I try to take down as much coat as I could before I bath and dry them. Less hair = less time in the bathroom :-)
Am I the only one concerned about the fact you clip the coat of the airedale? Airedales have a coat that doesn't shed and clipping the coat cuts the dead hair. This leaves dead roots within the hair follikles making the dog more even more vulnerable to skin problems than they already are.
Hello, thank you for your comment. I groom the Airedales and any long legged terriers to the AKC/CKC show standard (minus the handstripping). If you look at pictures of show Airedales, none of them have the fluffy hind legs/pantaloons that you mentioned. I know a lot of groomers leave the pantaloons on, perhaps it's the way they were taught at grooming school. I did not go to grooming school, I learned from breeders that breed and show the breed, so I follow their pattern.
why are you taking so much off of the rear leg? with airedales you follow the brown pattern....ive seen people do different clips, but the way i was trained you follow the brown arch on the back leg, its the "long leg" terrier pattern
Thank you for the tutorial. The best on the internet. I also want to learn stripping my Airedale. Please post instructional video on that too, please, please.
+The Flood Medix Andis or Oster. Bathing and drying the dog before hand would make the clipper go through a lot easier. I did the rough clip on a dirty coat to cut down on drying time because I had time restriction on the dog.
Hi sorry I don't check the comments on this channel very often and just saw your question. I do handstrip my current Airedale as he has always been stripped (not the dog in this tutorial). I roll his coat often, which means every week or so. Sometimes if I let the hair get too long, then I will strip him down to skin when the coat is blown (around 5-6 months time). Please check out my other UA-cam channel called "JaffaDALE", it has some handstripping tips and most of the dogs on that channel are handstripped. You can also google my grooming website - Squaire Dog Grooming.
no problem we used it on anything that had a tight coat...it works great on standard poodles as well.. but you do get a lot of dander blow out and dead hair, fair warning, lol
i bend the neck down to cut the back of the neck or just pull the skin tight to do the same thing. also i cut up against the direction the hair is growing its faster and easier on the shears cause of it being faster.

Om
But i thought airedales get hot in the summer and sometimes spring?
Shouldn't be a problem if the dog is brushed regularly, as in multiple times a week. This applies if the coat is clipped or hand stripped.

What does airforcing mean? Thank you :)

What is airforcing and how is it done?
Thank you for the tutorial. The best on the internet. I also want to learn stripping my Airedale. Please post instructional video on that too, please, please.
Lovely clip and great explanation. Thank you.
Airforcing the hair first would make it easier to clip, it opens the coat and is easier on your blade
What type of clippers do you recommend?

ADT Mom, are you using the Flood medix in this video? I have the strongest Andis and it seems slow compared to what you're using in the video.
airedaile va strippato e non fatto a macchinetta!!!
Do you ever hanstripp your dog and if so how often?
Thanks for not answering....
I now know.

Its so cute and fluffy

Wet shaving might help too
Wonderful. Our Stink is looking so much snazzier!

If you wash the dog first it goes A LOT better!!! But good video..
