    Thanks for the video, my great aunt rescued Airedales, and when I live somewhere where I can have a dog I'd love to have an Airedale. I didn't know the females could be bald after hand stripping after they've had puppies, I guess having kids can be hard on the body for dogs too.

    Hello this video is very useful thankyou. I just have a few questions.
    After this groom how many weeks was it until her next groom? And then how often did you groom her doing the rolling strip instead?
    Is there a video of when she next came in and what you did on her /how her coat was looking?
    Thankyou!

    Hola felicitaciones por tu video, tuve un Airedale Conan que era maravilloso 😍😍 y creo que lo mejor que lo pude tener es como esta la bella Airedale al principio del video, quizas un poco mas corto 😊 arrancandole el pelo con los dedos solamente, me faltaba la mesa y las cuchillas para intentarlo, espero volver a tener un Airedale y me encantaría intertar hacer lo que explicás en el video, podrias compartir por favor mayor detalle de las cuchillas e instrumentos necesarios para realizar el hand stripping ....saludos de Temuco Chile

    Thank you so much for this, it is very helpful! I'd love to see what it looks like to do the opposite side of the dog (i.e., the way that your body mechanics change when you are stretching the skin). Also, I have a very difficult time figuring out the direction of hair growth on legs when I do my cairn. I think I'm probably do it wrong. (And his head, too.) :-(

    • @vitacanis1117
      @vitacanis1117  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you! That's a really good point! I will do the other side in my future video. When it comes to legs on a Cairn, the direction of hand stripping is similar like I did in my hand stripping video - the furnishings. You hand strip down and slightly away from the leg. On the head pull the hair away from the head, so the new hair will grow in that direction. You can also use a carding knife to remove some of the soft hair; again pulling away from the head. Hope it helps :)

      @vitacanis1117  2 роки тому +1

      You can use a medium knife on the body, and even on the head, etc if the cost is long. Otherwise I would recommend a fine knife on the head, front, back end and and fine or extra fine on the ears. I like to use a file knife for rolling the coat. Hope it helps :)

    • @vitacanis1117
      @vitacanis1117  2 роки тому +1

      Hello Jorge! You can start gently pulling the puppy fluff from age 8 - 10 weeks, depending how fluffy your puppy is. If you are taking your puppy to a groomer I would do it about two weeks after the second vaccination. They need the time to get used to it

    • @vitacanis1117
      @vitacanis1117  2 роки тому

      Hi Tayelor! It's not always necessary, especially if you are not showing. However, if you are showing, you will have to take the flat areas (cheeks, ears, front , side of the neck, shoulders, upper arm and back end) bald. Once the new hair grow about 1 -2mm, you start rolling the coat weekly, to keep the coat as short as possible. I'm planning to do a video on this next month. What breed do you have?

    Why does this not hurt the Bingley, Every dog I have had If I were to pluck hair out of it would have been cruel. It must rip them out by the follicles or am I missing something. I had a Wheaton terrier very easy to groom but this would not have been tolerated. Just questions. The work is very good and thank you for the time you have invested.

    • @vitacanis1117
      @vitacanis1117  2 роки тому +2

      Thank you for your question. Wheaton terrier is not hand stripped breed, they have soft wavy coat, not harsh like some of the other terriers ( Airedale, Lakeland, Welsh, Fox Terrier, JRT, Irish, etc) Harsh hair is not anchored in the skin as deeply as a soft hair, therefore it is easier to pull out. Also the technique is very important! You can't just grab it and pull it. The skin needs to be stretched, and just pull a small amount in the direction of growth. Hope it helps :)

    • @elmafudd9703
      @elmafudd9703 2 роки тому +1

      @@vitacanis1117 I understand your reply. thankyou for your quick response. I have a Wheaton and appreciate the difference in dog coats/hair. What I am referring to is every hair no matter what the texture has hair follicles every hair follicle has a small erector pili muscle, to erect that hair and so a nerve supply. So I still dont understand why it does not hurt the dog when you are pulling out the hairs. I am not saying you are cruel. People say you should pluck the hair from the inside of a Wheaton's ear. They will get use to it. No they dont and why would they.
