My first car was a car like this - a 1962 Comet S22 - but with black interior and my dad painted it baby blue. I had is from 1972 (I was 18) until it was totaled in 1981 in an 80-mph head-on collision with a drunk driver. Thanks to the seat belts that my dad installed before my mom would let me drive it, I walked away from that relatively unscathed with 24 stitches to my forehead, 4 broken ribs, two dislocated thumbs and banged up knees. That car was a tank and saved my life I loved that car. There was so much room in the engine well that I would sit on the fender and dangle my legs in the engine well to do a tune-up! It rode low so I went through 5 mufflers in four years during college from driving on dirt roads, through creeks, etc. on botany field trips. What an amazing car!
I owned one, bought in Wisconsin for $300.00. No rust, no dents. I bought it in the winter and it had a bad heater core. It was a cold ride back to Illinois. It was a great car, three on the tree, high beam switch on the floor. Inline six and plenty of room to work on the engine.
Interesting. The passenger door looks that way in some shots but not obvious in others. What I noticed is rust on the gas tank. Looks like it had a full resto at some point - if the badge is true it won a national award in 2004.
@@computerweenie - are you sure that was the only interior option available? It supposedly won a national antique automobile club first prize, I would think the judges would be on top of that kind of thing.
@@knowbodiesfull5768 And they were expensive. Someone stole one off my car and is was $16.00 to replace it - 1974 dollars! That about $90 dollars in today's equivalent.
Does the original no A/C work? :) It's in nice condition but I dunno, 30 grand for a 6 banger. You can pick up decent condition '68 - '71 Vettes all day for less than that.

Man I’m a 💯 Chevy guy but I have to say this looks better than a 1962 Chevy nova
I bought it in 1972.
He has this listed for sale on ebay as a museum quality car, yet the bottom of the passenger door is damaged and "bowed" out
Also does not have the original interior. The seats should be red and white with silver piping.

6 tail lights? Never saw a '62 comet with 6 taillights.
Only the S-22 had them.
