I am NOT a medical professional and this channel is not a diagnostic tool. This is a personal vlog coming from a lived experience point of view.

Being an Autistic gender queer pansexual person, politics is an important part of my life. When a political party in this country builds it's platform around making my life as miserable and dangerous as possible, I have no choice but to become involved. My happiness and even my personal safety is dependent on keeping this party out of power. I am unable to comprehend why people get so upset over something that does not affect them in any meaningful way. It is even more aggravating to realize that this hatred is solely based out of ignorance. I don't understand why certain people in society feel that they have a right to force their religious beliefs and opinions on others that do not share them. We are all different. If we are supposed to all look, think, act, and believe the same way, then we wouldn't be different. I don't force my beliefs and opinions on others, and it would be nice to receive the same respect.
Thank you, jesterr, for speaking out. for the sake of our entire planet, please, please vote BLUE!
Both parties are behind it. Blue just virtue signals to your face while stabbing you in the back, like when they called the guard on blm, told the rail workers they'll be arrested if they strike, let the reds rig SCOTUS, build saw-traps in the rio grande, etc. etc. ad nauseum.
So much apreciate that You talk out loud about such an important topic that indeed has huge impact of EVERYBODYS life, interested in or not!
Also for me as a european it has a maybe lifethreatening impact if orange catatrophe gets a second chance to start WW III...
Wrote a lot the past days, am a bit tired now, but as I now know "parasociol personal" a lot of US-citizens my fingers are crossed in a different way then before, as it affects You in the first row.
To cool down: Kombucha would be great!
❤ You, You are brave and kind!
100% agree on the advantages of barefoot shoes. They are far more comfortable, especially in hot weather.
I started wearing them about 4 years ago!
It was painful for me instead. Not an option for me.
It took a long time for me to build up the foot muscles for barefoot shoes and I still need more support than some can give, but the wide toe box is a must for me!
Thank you for posting this video!
There is nothing wrong with wearing sensory friendly pajamas at home. Sometimes it’s okay to wear pjs when you are out and about!
PCOS is what I was praying you would discuss this topic!
PCOS isn’t easy to live with for my autistic daughter.
Yes! She has gained weight! She eats relatively healthy and feels bad that she has to shop at plus size stores.
She has bad acne and a lot of facial hair!
She gets waxings every few months. She hates her sideburns. She is obsessed with removing her hair on her face and legs.
She hyperfixates on Blues Clues! I find it’s a healthy hyper fixation!
I'm hoping that the treatment I get for PCOS will help me feel better! I'm on a med that should help with weight. Is that an option for your daughter? Sensory wise being overweight isn't comfortable for me.
I find so much of this relatable! Got a hysterectomy last year just after turning 37. Family has history of fibroids (that's why I got my hysterectomy), terrible painful heavy periods, and even some dark facial hairs. My OBGYN thought of checking me for PCOS, but the fibroids were so obvious those were a good enough thing to focus on instead, I guess. My masking has been so heavy on the people pleasing that it's stunning looking back at how I was even five years ago. I'm trying to be aware of it.
I am glad you found a doctor that can help you.
Me too! I'm so mad my last doc never caught it.
I always foot, knee, and lower back problems due to the way I walked as well. I also have an autoimmune disease that affects my joints and makes me very susceptible to Plantar Fasciitis. For a few years, I wore braces on both knees and ankles, and occasionally had to use a cane to get around. I lost over 100lbs a few years ago, and things have gradually gotten better. I still have pain and walk with an odd gait due to my joint issues, but I don't wear braces anymore, and I haven't used a cane in years. It is so nice to have my mobility back. Losing the weight definitely made a difference, since I had been overweight my entire life before then. The crazy thing about my weight loss is that it happened in 18 months without me making any intentional changes to my lifestyle. Maybe it was proprioception. I don't know.
Ha! 3:50* (🙂 I typed this message before hearing that part of the convo): I walk in the outside edges of my feet, and always have. My boots wear unevenly. I had knock knees, as a kid. I have a lot of overgrowth issues, and I’ve found a lot of information on autism, while keyword searching “frontal bossing”, or “brow ridge”, along with autism. (Because I have that, along with hormones out of kilter)
I think a conversation about driving that is very important to have with your children is about always avoiding certainty about what outside reality involves. New situations arise very quickly while driving and graceful reaction to new information and unexpected changes in the situation is essential. Some examples: Do not assume that you know someone will be turning, just because they are signaling a turn. Keep open the possibility that they don't know their signal is on. Don't turn your wheels to the left, while waiting to make a left turn at a red light or for a break in oncoming traffic. If someone plows into the back of you, it is bad enough that you will be pushed forward. But it can be far worse if that push puts you into the lane of oncoming traffic. During drivers training, discussing many other unexpected but possible misunderstandings will help them keep learn to keep their options open and switch horses, so to speak, gracefully.
At home, I am usually always in a sun dress, or t shirt and loos fitting skirt or something. I like to be comfortable at home. I hate wearing pants when I don't have to. It's a sensory thing for me. I guess it is one of the weird hang ups we all have.
About the weight gain, that’s hormones, and likely a thyroid malfunction issue. I have too much estrogen (I’m not female), and it keeps me overweight. I realized, in my youth, that my body doesn’t want to be thin. (I recently did one meal a day OMAD, mixed with multi-day fasting, and it helped…for a minute)
Thanks so much, Amanda,. I am focusing on Kamala too. I immigrated to Denmark because of USA politics and not allowed dual citizenship. I really do hope she is the next president of the USA. Thank you, Amanda, for your courage. Please continue what you do.
Your journey with illnesses is very similar to mine. I have Psoriatic Arthritis, and it wasn't diagnosed until 7 years after the symptoms initially began. Doctors determined that I had some type of autoimmune issue a couple of years before my diagnosis. I went through every test imaginable and doctors could not figure out what was wrong with me. I started doing my own research, and I diagnosed myself, much like I did with Autism. After another failed test, I suggested Psoriatic Arthritis to my Rheumatologist. She then referred me to a Dermatologist who diagnosed me with Psoriasis (a prerequisite for PSA), and that is how I got my official diagnosis. I did the same thing with Autism a couple of years ago. I have actually diagnosed myself twice when doctors were unable to. It makes me wish I had overcome the PDA and finished school.
So many of us have to self diagnose before getting an official one.
It’s a good topic. Autism never occurs on its own. I’ve got a pile of comorbidities, with the latest discovered one being Sotos Syndrome. It explains much of my childhood. I’ve also got a sex chromosome abnormality (SCA), and completed puberty around age 35. Also ADHD, Dyscalculia, and a few more.
Yep, I don't think I know anyone who is Autistic without anything else
I'm definitely a side walker as well. I only wear sandals now. I have worn holes in the side of every pair of shoes I have ever owned, and the wear patterns on the soles are identical to yours. I have actually worn holes through the soles of my shoes before.
I've worn so many holes through shoes!
❤
I didn't get my license until I was 18. At 16, I had no real interest in driving. I don't drive all that often today. I probably drive less than 5000 miles a year.
I just now recall parents smacking their kids if their shoes wore out unevenly. Why was this sooo important?
I have never heard of this and I'm sad that it happens.
My parents were like that to me, in the 80's, so focused on my external appearance, making me have trauma with trying my shoes right and wearing socks. I asked my mom why I had to do these things,, and she said she did it because she didnt wanna see me hurt, the neighbors could call and get me taken away, something like that
Parents worried about our public appearance. My mom could be called a refrigerator mom, over-protective. I'm long past her death now, and I'm 47 years old. Unfortunately, my neighbors call the cops and I find myself locked up involuntarily. They refuse to talk to me calling me the crazy woman nobody wants to talk to. So much to worry about with judgy humans who want to get rid of me for looking 'crazy'.
Horrible to exist and not be allowed to be fully myself with how picky humans can be about how other people look.
I am loving your eyeshadow! I have been doing a similar thing with lilac, purple, and silver sparkles in the inside corner (which looks like a blue/gray when added on top of the lilac)
Pretty! I love sparkles!
I have ehlers danlos which is a connective tissue disorder. I don’t know the actual statistics but considering how rare ehlers danlos is supposed to be (although many people think that it may not be quite as rare as belived and just very often the diagnosis is missed or misdiagnosed for many years before we are finally properly diagnosed) the co-ocurrence between ehlers danlos and autism is pretty high.
I have become very interested in how different conditions have a tendancy to intersect because too many people seem to assume that someone with a whole list of conditions must be faking, without realising that often having certain conditions may actually raise the likelyhood of a person also having various other conditions
You said what I was trying to say perfectly! Thanks for this. Yes and ED is also commonly co-occurring with autism too!
My mom was never diagnosed with Autism, though I strongly suspect that she is Autistic and probably would be diagnosed if she spoke to a doctor about it. She had fibroids as well, and had a hysterectomy in her mid 40's. Her mother did as well.
I'd be on the look out then. My mom and grandma both had hysterectomies due to fibroid when they were early 40s and now I do too at 44. (assuming you have a uterus, if not, obviously ignore.)
💚
I am autistic transgender woman with dyslexia, prosopagnosia, tourette's syndrome, and a complete lack of executive functions.
I have aphantasia and some degree of prosopagnosia too.
How to know if my reaction (like people-pleasing, and so on) is an autistic masking or a result of being neglected as a child?
Are you autistic? Have you met the diagnostic criteria for Autism? If you are autistic and were neglected masking could be a result of both. If you are trying to determine if you're Autistic because you people please a lot, you'd have to look to see if you meet the diagnostic criteria for being Autistic. Embrace Autism has some free tests that would be a good place to start.
Have you been assessed for Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos? I just got a confirmation that I satisfy the criteria for this, and your pain and joint experience sounds like mine. I’m AuDHD, diagnosed at age 50
I've wondered and I am hypermobile but I don't think I have all the symptoms of ED. I will eventually talk to doc about it
@@i.am.mindblind there aren’t too many besides hypermobile joints and pain, and proprioception issues. The specialist I saw said you don’t have to have skin issues (stretchy etc), and, in fact, many people with hEDS don’t have skin issues
Oh that's interesting about the skin, because yeah, my skin isn't too stretchy. I asked my foot doc if he thought I had EDS because I think I read something about it and surgery being an issue but he wasn't concerned.
@@i.am.mindblind yes I think it would be worth looking into for you
I’ve been born w pancake flat feet on top of autism……
Hey, are you open to sharing your cooking/review channel? I also like cooking, and I like this channel also! What's the name of the channel?
Sure! It's www.youtube.com/@TheNeurospicyMama Like I said, I don't post to it that often anymore.
I'd definitely like to try making kambua (sp?) please drop me the link.
Here's my kombucha link. ua-cam.com/video/NeYiFmzMu5o/v-deo.html
Anyone else notice how the symptoms and comorbidities are all the same as certain forms of child abuse?
I think it's more likely that undiagnosed autistic children are more likely to be abused.
