Hi! I've been minimalist bullet journaling for four years and I got some great ideas from this video. Your video just popped up in my feed and I wanted to see your minimalist journaling ideas and liked the color of your journal :P thank u! I'll check out your more recent set ups
@@Muington Ha ha! Nice to know that I'm not the only one staying young by still learning cool stuff! I'm doing this because I'm starting my own business after retiring from teaching for 40 years.... Exciting, and I'm loving it.....
I am attempting this at 72 too . I like to doodle so maybe that will keep me motivated to use the journal. Making it my own and setting it up the way I want may help me stay on track.
I have been fascinated with bullet journaling for years; watching hundreds of bujo set ups, how-tos, hacks, common mistakes, etc. but I have always been too scared to try one myself! 99% of the bujos you see on UA-cam or Pinterest are so artsy and beautiful...I have neither the artistic ability nor the time to dedicate to a book that is supposed to simplify my life... and it actually seems counterproductive! I have watched this video 6 times and taken multiple screenshots. Finally, a bujo set-up that I can actually accomplish! Thank you for this! I'm going to start right away!! 🖤
This is a really great guide. Most bullet journal videos don’t focus on the practical part of planning so are pretty useless at the end of the day. This video is one I will certainly be referring back to in the next couple of weeks as I finish setting up my journal. 👍
I always thought that these journals were kind of not for me, but I really like the way that you set up your pages and how minimal and nice they look. I may give it a try.
I love my bullet journal. When I first started using it I put so much pressure on myself to make it look beautiful and it put me off using it. I then started a more minimal and practical approach and I love it. Less stress, clean and simple
Loved this video! I've been intending to start using a bullet journal, bought the book, but was very overwhelmed by all the "fancy" bullet journal videos. This one was just right! Minimal, less time consuming, but still pretty to look at! Thank you for sharing your organizational thoughts and experiences!
Thanks so much for sharing! Yes most bujo videos are very pretty but can also be overwhelming. I think bullet journals should make our life easier as a first function, and this way is very quick and easy to set up. You can always add more doodlings if you like. Have a wonderful day and happy bullet journaling! :)
@@SonshineLady7 yeah, I'm always amazed how so many ppl have changed his super simple and clean idea into something that's completely different and now dominate the definition of what a bujo is with that overly artsy style.
This is the first time set up the bullet journal entry. I am so much grateful to you because of it is fully helpful for me if you have more idea please send to my email: rashedmaishan@gmail.com
🦋 “Do what you can with what you have” - one if my favorite quotes ever as well! This video is really inspiring. Love how organized and simple you make this process. Love the idea of having an overview of the year, and having everything you need in one place. Thanks for the great video, Vera! 😊🦋💕
Yet to find a way of organising my thoughts and found bullet journalling. Thank you for not turning this video into a full on art and craft project. Your spreads and explanations were spot on. Thank you!!
I've moved away from using weeklies myself, I like the idea of having space for notes in my daily spreads. I do like the first of your 2 new weeklies as its similar to how I used to set mine up. This will be my third bullet journal, and I keep parring it down, reducing the art. Reducing the colours. So this year Ive reduced it even further. But when the inclination hits, I'll leave space at my month diving pages for artwork, and see how that goes.
I love how you set up the 2020 journal. Being so basic really appeals to me. I am retired now so am not so busy and mainly use the basic monthly setup you did this year. I am not the least artistic so I pretty it up with stickers and washi. I find added color makes me want to use it more! I do the index, future log and then all 12 monthly spreads right away in a row. I don’t add weekly or daily myself since I’m not that busy. I add my collections starting in the back working forward. Works great for me. If I want to journal I choose to use a separate book. And my mind really does prefer the vertical monthly spread like you did. It’s so simple! Thanks for the great ideas.
Thank you for sharing your no frills style. It's so easy to get caught up in perfectionism. I like to keep it pretty, but practical. I really like your idea for a weekly bracket page. I don't think I've seen it before and I'd like to give it a try.
I personally like the new year setups, because the end of the year is when I have some freetime and can take my time to carefully plan the spreads and how I want them. Then, during the year, I can just fill them out, which is its purpose. I try to be a little bit more artistic, but I still prefer the minimalistic look overall. (this year, I'm saving a section to practice drawing and lettering, without filling the rest of the BuJo with it)
Glad to have your channel pop up on my radar. My bujo quickly morphed from a quite well-researched, pretty, complete (for my needs) tidy planner to a book of random days (sometimes Id go weeks without using it) with tasks, appointments and notes scribbled down in it. I love the composition of your journal. The simplicity and functionality is inspiring. Im excited to use your tips and layout for my bujo this year. Thank you for sharing.
I started bullet journaling in 2019. So 2020 is my second try. I really like your setup. I'm going to use some of your ideas in my journal. I think it'll work better for me than what I was doing before.
I am barely going to set up a bullet journal for next year, and so many of the bujo setups I've seen are too artsy and detailed for a beginner like me, so I really appreciate this simplified version. I think this will work the best for me, so many thanks!
Thank you very much for this simple bullet journal set up video. I am a total newbie and have just received the lavender pro Scribbles That Matter bullet journal, which came with a fineliner attached - bonus! I have watched many bujo set ups and felt rather overwhelmed by the whole thing. I admired the beautiful art work some people do but really needed to see the basics of setting one up, so seeing what you include in yours and why and what worked and what didn't and your reasoning is so helpful. Best wishes for 2020 from a new subscriber. Incidentally if anyone in the UK is considering buying a STM bujo I must just say that I ordered it on Sunday 22nd December and it arrived Christmas Eve - very impressive service for this time of year! It is beautiful; in fact I am nervous about starting it as I don't want to spoil it. Need to get a grip!
I really love your setup! When I started bullet journal mid-2018 I did all those crazy artsy stuff. It looked pretty nice at first and I was really motivated.. but after a few months I realized that I was using it less and less because I was loosing the motivation to draw all those doodles and stuff. So I went to a more minimalistic style, which was still pretty artsy (color schemes every months, a theme, but less doodles in the weekly spreads). It was okay for a while, but I finally saw a video of a very minimalistic set up and I realized how much I liked the clean look, so I started doing that and it changed everything! Now I really use my bullet journal and enjoy it way more!! My weekly set up is pretty simple as well. I do a column on each page, on the left side I put the weekly tasks, while on the right side there’s a very simple habit tracker and a menu plan for the week. In the middle I have simple lines to divide the days (plus one for the notes). What I do is I put my plans/events for each day with a little square before them, and under that I also put my daily tasks with a dot before them (just to visually differentiate them).
Thanks for sharing Elisa and your setup sounds really nice :) I understand what you mean about the artsy stuff, I'm sure I wouldn't be able to keep it up if I had to draw all these things every week..
funny after playing with two bullet journals and filling them up with art work and ideas from everyone else I was laying in bed and it hit me ! everyone keeps saying make it for what interests you! I came up with a list such as orchids, roses which will help me remember how to car e for them when to ferilize and a renewal page for all the renewals in my life, drivers license, base id, carry permit ect. drs appointments m mail addresses for easy access blood pressure and birthdays. I think I am really going to enjoy this! now that I have what refers too me! thanks for all your vidios!
really loved your ideas" most of the bullet journals I have read are almost too structured. this layout really gives you more freedom. I have my journal ordered and can't wait to start! thank you.
Nice flip. For my projects (Lifetime Goals), I like to use a totally separate book - an STM (Scribbles That Matter A5 Iconic dotted) book. (I‘m artsy, so I colored in some of the icons with permanent markers.) Like yours, my layout for projects is also a 2-page spread. Right page, divided unequally in fourths (using skinny washi tape), is for the main project info. Left page is for notes. At the bottom center of right page, I stamp a cartouche - then I print my Reward in it. The reward is selected from my list of rewards that I hand printed on a plastic ‘dashboard’ with permanent marker. I use the Rewards sheet as a handy writing board - that keeps me motivated! I also like that you provided the video time stamps in the pinned comment - thanks for that!
I have used a bullet journal for 2 years now. The first year I used the one you are using now and then, for some unknown reason, I changed to a more traditional daytimer style. I am going to a hybrid of the two for this year. I don't want to spend so much time doodling and designing my BUJO as I did the first year-I loved doing it but it was a rabbit hole for me . The book I bought for this year has the basics of a year at a glance and the weekly spreads done for you but leaves blank pages for the customizing I still need. I love your minimal design so that's what I'll use.
Just got a bullet journal for Christmas, honestly very intimidated by all the creativity and art from other people. Thank you for sharing your journal.
I HIGHLY recommend you go to the official bullet journal UA-cam channel and watch their tutorials. Ryder Carroll, the guy that came up with the idea, has ADHD, and the bullet journal is very straightforward and not frilly. All the artsy junk is counterproductive, IMHO, as it scares away/discourages people who could benefit from it immensely.
I use a spread like the second one. Love it. I also divide the task page (with just a break) with work at the top and home/personal at the bottom. The left page with the days of the week works great for me when I want to keep certain appointments in mind as I plan my days; allowing me to be mindful and be realistic about how much has already been scheduled when during the week. I also when using this spread mark the tasks that will be accomplished/assigned to the day with that letter of the week so there is no need for me to recopy and move it somewhere else. Easy simple and works well for me.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. as a person with a very volatile mood, overly fancy bullet journals piss me off so much. I was kinda mad nobody was doing a plain minimalist planner, but there you are!! Thanks and keep up the updates!
I love this setup! I'm artsy, but also a wife, mom, business owner, and I work a part-time job. I don't have time to always make my bujo pretty. I love some of your layout ideas and will definitely take some of them with me. Also, I love continuing to use the same journal for the next year. I also felt the same way but didnt think of setting up a whole new section for the new year. Will definitely do this! Thank you for sharing!!!
I've used bulleted "to-do" lists forever. Whatever I did not complete on my weekend "to do" list was assigned to the upcoming week, day by upcoming day. I like how Vera organizes her journal. I think Vera has more to do and more to organize than I do but I LOVE how her tasks and calendars are arranged. Looking at how much Vera does to get these vids out makes me ponder supporting her on Patreon. Again, I'm quite selective, but I think this one is worth considering.
I have followed your advice and set up a journal. I had always been put off in the past by feeling it had to be a work of art ( which is funny because I am actually an artist) instead of a tool to help me. Thank you for giving me inspiration.
I am new to bullet journaling and found your video very helpful, I particularly like the cleanness of your setup. The second 2020 week task layout is my personal preference. Thank you for sharing your ideas.
I have never used a bullet journal, but I think it may be something that I would like to use. I have a stationery business that I would like to focus on this coming year. It has been slow, but I would like to dedicate my time to it making stationery and other projects. Thanks for sharing your tips on journaling.
I'm new to bullet journaling. I tried a myriad of methods over the past year, but for some reason bullet journaling was kind of intimidating for me. This video has really helped me grasp the concept that "the set up doesn't have to be perfect" and "it's ok to try out a variety of things". I think that may have been what was really holding me back from trying. Thanks for showing how simple can be a great way to start and then branch out to make it my own. I look forward to future videos.
THANK YOU! I am a NEWBIE to the Bullet Journal. I've been researching it for my daughter entering freshman year of high school. I think this approach will be excellent for her. I am also looking at the minimalist approach for myself. I am currently waiting for my FIRST bullet journal to arrive and will definitely be referring to this video as I am going to begin with the minimalist style to begin with. I do have Scrapbooking and other crafty hobbies, but I want to keep it SIMPLE and highly FUNCTIONAL. :)
I want to start a bullet journal, preferably a minimalist set up. I found you by searching for bullet journal. Thanks for the simple ideas! I like the simplicity of it.
I really admire you using your old notebook, even though it's the start of a new year. Truly inspirational. Might have to start doing this myself. I am beginning to hate unnecessary waste.
Great video and ideas--Thank you! Though I am an artist, my bullet journal is just an organizer, and my artistic time is spent on my projects instead of the journal, so I love the minimalist approach. I also love the flexibility to individualize it to best meet my own needs--An idea I found that really added to my journal was a monthly reflection...At the end of each month, I would reflect upon *Important goals not started *Important goals needing more time *Important things accomplished *Lessons learned (or remembered) about myself
Your second weekly setup is what is known as week-note in planners - days of the week on the left for appointments and dates, note page on the right. I'm using a week-note planner for, uh, about the 10th year running now and for me, it's the best layout ever. Can definitely recommend. My planner also has like 60 additional note pages in the back and I do something like a cross between a planner and a bujo which is why I also snoop around a bit in bujo vids. :)
I’ve been wanting to start a bullet journal for a long time, but never quite found the motivation to actually do it. But for Christmas I got a dot grid notebook! So I’ve been watching a lot of bullet journal videos, and this is the first one I’ve found that has felt like something I can really do. Thank you so much for this!
I'm just getting started in this whole thing. I'm watching a bunch of different start up type videos. I like yours because it is minimalistic. I have a lot of kids grandkids a business to run and a lot of toudouze to do
Just found your video after a search. I am working from home due to the pandemic and i want to get away from the screens when im not on the clock. I am new to bullet journals and love the minimalist approach you have. I use a lot of project management principals in my job so i loved your project pages. I also like that one paired up with the second weekly spread as you can divide milestones or deadlines throughout the week on one side and use the tasks page to keep on track, brain dump, make lists, etc. Thanks for the inspo!
Hello Vera! Thank you for this. I am reading Ryder's book and started my bujo a few weeks ago during this 9 week quarantine. With this weird time where everything has changed quickly my usual methods of projects tasks reminders and such were quickly out of date. My writing is sloppy and there is no art, but experimenting with this method has really helped me mentally feel a little bit more in control and able to express myself. Your layouts are lovely. subscribed!
I'm working on starting I just ordered supplies so that I can. I got interested due to purchasing a fountain pen, looking into calligraphy then saw bullet journals and well yeah now I'm here haha
Needless to say, your channel is blowin up! Just found you a day ago, and have been watchin all your past videos. Enjoy the fact you don't take yourself so seriously and you just have good entertaining videos. Congratulations on your success. You deserve it!
Thanks Vera, another great video. Thanks for showing keeping it simple is productive. I started doing Bujo in 2019 and found I used only half the journal and will be using the same book for 2020 too. I find keeping my ideas in one place is the most helpful. Helps me not be overwhelmed with sticky notes or random pieces of scrap paper.
Love seeing a simplified spread! I’ve been bullet journalling for 3 years, and I simplified each new book from year to year, much like you did. Mine, however, is a lot more free-form, more like the original creator’s of the BJ - I don’t pre-plan layouts, I don’t draw boxes, and I removed weekly logs to just have daily logs - which is the most important part of my bullet journal: being able to brain dump my thoughts and plans each morning, as my daily ritual. At the start of each month, I create a new monthly log, using my yearly log to guide me with appointments. I also have a page for monthly things to do, then I start my daily logs, which I fill out each day, using my monthly log to guide me for appointments - and sometimes thoughts may only be a few lines, but sometimes thoughts and plans may run over multiple pages; I also use these daily logs to “journal” any anxieties and emotions I’m feeling, much like Ryder’s most recent video shows. Good luck with your journal!
So refreshing! Bullet journaling for those of us without an MFA in painting. LOL Mine is incredibly utilitarian, but it works for me. Good to see someone else putting function over form! I love *looking* at the pretty BuJos online, but I could never maintain one. Yours is great!
This is so refreshing to watch. I joined bullet journal groups but most of the members post art journal stuff and a pre made setup like a average agenda. I do like to decorate but trying to keep that all up takes to mutch time. so I never liked to flip it open. It's to mutch work. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my own creations and decorating isn't helping me organize. I'd love to see more journals like Rider Carol's setup like yours. Thank you for sharing
I just wonder why you pre setup your days , what do you do when you your daily tasks and appointments don't fit ? Or when you are unable to journal for a few days ? Wouldnt that create unnecessary empty pages ?
Great info. I am brand new to bujo and am looking for ideas. I will be using it mostly for my quilting but saw a lot of ideas in your pages. I also love the simple decorations you’ve used. I am currently working with a journal I had laying around the house. I will buy a better one once I get more comfortable. Thanks for all your ideas!
i’m new to this channel & i subscribed even before the video ended!! love her gentle demeanor and the compassion/kindness she embraces for herself & her goals. a true role model! can’t wait to binge on her previous & undoubtably lovely work!
I’m just getting started with bujo-ing. I love your setup. I think I like the daily boxes setup better than the brackets. Lots of great ideas. Thank you for sharing
Used a similar setup to the second example, because it was on one sight. In normal working weeks I divided the days also with vertical lines to have different categories (work, house, exercise and others). This was because I have a quite small scripture and do not need that much space. The „notes“ section is also a place where I put tickets for cinema etc, because I really like to keep the journals for memory, although it is not that minimal ;) But I make this since school (then I used a normal calendar, added some stickers or postcards, did some little art projects) and really enjoy flipping through them. AND this also means that I do not have random tickets or gift cards lying around.
It's almost 2020! I have to say that one of the greatest thing in the year 2019 is discovering your UA-cam channel :) I love starting my mornings by listening to your videos.
Great tips as always! I woke up this morning looking forward for your video, I already bought my journal for 2020 two months ago its not bujo but it works for me since I just need some notes and reminders, but after I watched your video I've got inspired and going to add some stuff like one day projects and a wish list. I have 30 blank pages at the end of the journal that I'm going to use. Thank you Vera sending love..
I use bullet journal for a long time, and LOVED the idea of stop writing the calendar at the yearly log, I never look at it anyway. Your last option for the weekly log is great! I am about to try it for this current week. Thanks for all your amazing tips.
I’ve just started my first bullet journal this week. I found it really hard to stick to some kind of planner. But bujo seems doable for now. I really like your bracket week spread. It looks neat and organized. I think I’ll try it, too. I haven’t done a week spread, just classic dailies. And as a result I haven’t done any of my month tasks yet! Because my week was not planned. This is a disaster. Thank you for the idea!
You're very welcome Anastasia, glad this video was helpful for you! It takes a while to get the hang of it but I'm sure you'll get more and more organized as you go on :)
I'm a newbie to bullet journaling so i'm still trying to figure things out, my setup have little bits from here and there. Took me two weeks to figure out how i'm gonna set up everything then just by the first week, i realized what things i need to change around to costumize the system to my life, it's just a bit confusing as to HOW i'm gonna make it work but that's fine i've got some ideas and i'll try them out and experience. UA-cam videos also help me for inspiration so thank you. I personally liked the second weekly setup, the one with the brackets it truly looks classy
Great video! I like the simple set up so as not to give up on the BuJo due to spending to much time on preparation. I first Bujo’d in 2016 and 2017, then fell away. Recently I was watching some interesting tracker ideas and thought maybe I would set it up with the idea of utilizing the brain dump and maybe some journaling. Thx!
UA-cam recommended your video and I’m so happy they did! I have thought about keeping a bullet journal but haven’t as yet. I also believe the minimalist approach to everything is the way of the future for me, though I’ve spent my life fighting that approach! Your simple bullet journal seems so peaceful. I’m retired and strive for peace. Writing down everything as you think of it gets more important as you get older. I really like your project pages and the goal of giving each project a timeframe. Thank you for what you are sharing!
Wow, great video! I'm looking to use the Bujo to help organize all the vision, ideas, and projects I want to stay consistent with. These take a lot of time and effort themselves. This minimalist set up is perfect to get me started using the Bujo system without it being a distraction. I'm a newb to the system. Thank you so much for making an easy paced video with the ideas being so accessible. I'll be revisiting! Peace
I bought a ton of stuff several months ago when I first hears of this, but I got discouraged very quickly because I don't think I'm capable of 'doodling' Your method is great. I am 76 and I have saved and subscribed to your channel. I am ready now. Thank you so much!
I love this video! My first bullet journal video. I love that it doesn't cost money and gives you a full plan without being too overwhelming! thank you for sharing!!
I am so impressed! I just found you today and I'm so glad I did! Needless to say I immediately subscribed, liked, and saved to my "must try" playlist. I'm just starting a bullet journal, in fact I'm waiting to receive it in the mailbox. How blessed I feel that I have your video to act as my guide! Best one I've seen and believe me I've been trying to watch them all😳! Thank you so much for the great ideas!
Hello & Happy 2020! Last year your bullet journaling video resonates with me and it helped me start bullet journaling. a minimalist approach is what works for me! I am still bullet journaling. Very excited for this refresher Thank You 🙏🏽 😊
Really enjoyed this video! I have been bullet journaling for just over a year now. I do decorate more and have more detailed spreads as I find this relaxing for me. However, I do work full time outside the home in retail and this time of year is extremely busy and my energy level is really down once I get home. I look forward to trying some of your beautiful, simplistic set ups for these times that I know I just may be too tired to spend much time in my set ups. Thank you for sharing that simple can be just as satisfyingly beautiful! ☺️
Thanks so much Jennifer, so glad you enjoyed it! Yes one of the great things of bullet journaling is the flexibility in setting up the spreads. If you have more time and you're in the mood to be artistic, you can go all out. And when you're tired or strapped for time, you can go for a quick and easy simple setup :) Have a wonderful day!
I love your style! I love using the Alistair method so you still can have one master task list but then schedule the stuff that has to be scheduled. To make it even more organized I do personal stuff, work tasks, and appointments in different colors so it is easy to find everything. Using this method means that there is very little setup each week and it only takes one page.
I've always used a regular planner and last year I just couldn't have a planner and it was a nightmare, This year I decided to do a BUJO and I'm suuuper exited, I think it fits my needs perfectly
Yes! Just in time! This feels like the best time to start preparing for the new year. I think I will start mine today 😀 the washi tape is so helpful! Thank you 🐣for hatching good beginnings!
I love the idea of planning. I have bought several Passion Planners and more recently 2 quarterly Amplify planners. While I especially love the Amplify Planner, I find I am not a daily planner/journal-er. I have wasted most of these planner which makes me feel bad. I have toyed with the idea of a bullet journal for several years but didn’t really know how to start and felt a lot of decorating pressure even tho I am not very artistic. I watched The Happy Ever Crafters interview with Men Who Bullet earlier this week and am feeling a bit more confident. I’m a bit of a perfectionist so learning to deal with “errors” and imperfections will be a challenge. Currently researching the best notebook that has paper that won’t harm my brush pens. Nice video, thankbyou
I have been using a bujo for three years now, but found the last few months to be difficult to use. The last few weeks have been using more of a minimalist style. Your video has been very inspirational to keeping things simple and functional.
Thanks Margaret :) Yes bujo-ing can be flexible, if you have more time you can get creative with the spreads, and then when it's busier or you're less motivated, you can just make clean simple and functional spreads :)
Hello Vera. I admire the simplicity of your bullet journal design. I tried a bullet journal for several months and found that my planning and the complexity of my business including client work requires flexibility to insert note pages while staying focussed on top 3 to five projects weekly and top tasks daily. I conduct weekly reviews at which time I do a brain dump. I also perform quarterly reviews that are more effective for tracking progress on annual projects and reference when the results are contained in my planner. Not simple, but necessary. I experiment with layouts and create my own printables for a quarterly disc planner. Always looking for new ideas to tweak my planning process. Thank you for your ideas.
Thanks for sharing Patricia! :) Yes there's always a period of trial and error, trying different formats and see which ones work best. Yours sound very effective too!
Thank you so much for your clear and simple explanation for starting a bullet journal. It is new to me, and this video from you helps me a lot. 🌻🙏 with warm regards from Holland, Esther 🌲
Hi! I'm so glad I found your channel and this setup. I'm new to bujo and am a little bit overwhelmed by all the amazing illustrations and art that a lot of people put in their journals. It looks amazing but does not seem practical enough for me. You just gave me a lot of inspiration to take my expectations down a knotch😊. Thank you 🤗
You're very welcome and happy bullet journaling! :) Remember that bullet journaling should be fun and should help you out in your days and weeks, so anything that doesn't contribute to that is something you don't have to do
I bulletjournal (and love it!) It's great to see someone not changing out their book just because of the new year. Personally I only set up max a double spread for stuff like wishlist or project ideas, and instead make another if or when I run out (page threading technique). I also only set up each months pages at the end of the previous month, and the weekly pages at the end of the previous week. I like the flexibility of being able to change formats as I go along :)
I like the second weekly spread. If you want to schedule your tasks consider the Alistair method... It's set up like your content log except instead of the tasks, you put the days of the week. You put a circle back under the day scheduled, an X over the circle if completed or a dash showing that you migrated it to the next day. 💜🌞🌵😷
I love the second weekly spread, it allows for the Alastair method - so you can actually incorporate the weekly to do in there and keep it very flexible 😍
Love your set up 💖 As for the weekly spreads, consider allowing yourself to us which one works best on busy weeks when you are busy and the other on the not so busy weeks. No real reason to only have one layout. I have been bullet journaling for most of 2019 using various different spreads. My only pages laid out ahead are future log and index. This allows me to set up my monthly and weekly spreads according to my current needs. Granted, my life is vary dynamic and I can’t imagine a single spread that would ever fulfill what I need from one month to the next. But that is the beauty of bullet journaling being able to adjust to your needs
Yeah! Glad I found you! This december I finish my first BuJo. Along the year I started a second bujo for just project planning and other stuff. For 2020 the new one is already waiting. I really love seeing the doodles, colors, and artworks...but I am not able to do that. It costs me much precious time and for me, it is a distraction. With the structure and guidance that my BuJo helps me with, I'm more productive, organized and structured. Thanks for some new ideas!

Hi! I've been minimalist bullet journaling for four years and I got some great ideas from this video. Your video just popped up in my feed and I wanted to see your minimalist journaling ideas and liked the color of your journal :P thank u! I'll check out your more recent set ups
Just found you, because I am setting up a bullet journal for the first time--72 years old! Your video was quite helpful!
That's awesome! :) Happy bullet journaling Lynda 🤗
@@lindalosier5989 I'm sure it will be a great help! You go, Girl!!
This video helped a lot... first timer at 62 years old!

I have watched this video 6 times and taken multiple screenshots. Finally, a bujo set-up that I can actually accomplish! Thank you for this! I'm going to start right away!! 🖤
Wow that's so amazing!! Thanks and enjoy your simple bullet journal 🤗📘✌
This is a really great guide. Most bullet journal videos don’t focus on the practical part of planning so are pretty useless at the end of the day. This video is one I will certainly be referring back to in the next couple of weeks as I finish setting up my journal. 👍
Thank you Celia, that's good to hear :D Happy bullet journaling!
Oh my god! You are just the fresh air UA-cam needs. So honest. Truly minimalist, truly helpful video. Thank you. Thank you so much for the video.
Thank you so much for your kind comment :) Have a wonderful day!
Awh yes, right. Lol
@@SonshineLady7 yeah, I'm always amazed how so many ppl have changed his super simple and clean idea into something that's completely different and now dominate the definition of what a bujo is with that overly artsy style.
Happy bullet journaling! 😄📖

I do like the new year at a glance calendar, a great way to add bdays!
Thank you
This is the first time set up the bullet journal entry. I am so much grateful to you because of it is fully helpful for me if you have more idea please send to my email: rashedmaishan@gmail.com
Thank you. Now I know the way how to use this journal www.amazon.com/dp/1703239059
🦋 “Do what you can with what you have” - one if my favorite quotes ever as well! This video is really inspiring. Love how organized and simple you make this process. Love the idea of having an overview of the year, and having everything you need in one place. Thanks for the great video, Vera! 😊🦋💕
You're very welcome, glad you enjoyed it! Yes bullet journaling has been great for me to feel more organized.
I’ve literally looked at like 10 Bujo set up videos... this is exactly what i was looking for. Perfectly simple. Thank you.
Thanks so much! :D
For how crazy 2020 has been it would be interesting to see someone’s journal for this year
Haha since I work from home, it didn't change much in that regard, but yeah.... 2020...
That's great Andrea, happy bullet journaling!
Thanks for sharing and your setup sounds really nice too! :)
Thank you for sharing your no frills style. It's so easy to get caught up in perfectionism. I like to keep it pretty, but practical. I really like your idea for a weekly bracket page. I don't think I've seen it before and I'd like to give it a try.
Thanks so much Sheri! I like that too, pretty but practical :) And if I make a mistake here and there, so be it :)
This is like a breath of fresh air. Absolutely love this simple and minimalistic set up. I'm so glad youtube recommended it to me.
Wow thank you Kate! :) Happy bullet journaling
This is the best bullet journal diy I’ve found that will actually work for me! Thank you! Perfect for a busy mom!
So glad to hear that! :) Happy bullet journaling!
oh gosh . now why didn’t i realize BJ’s could be this simple ? lol 😂. I might actually be able to do something like this .
Haha yes they can be simple, quick and easy! 😄
Do it!!! I actually use my journal more when it isn’t so complex.
.....
(That’s what she said)
I personally like the new year setups, because the end of the year is when I have some freetime and can take my time to carefully plan the spreads and how I want them. Then, during the year, I can just fill them out, which is its purpose. I try to be a little bit more artistic, but I still prefer the minimalistic look overall.
(this year, I'm saving a section to practice drawing and lettering, without filling the rest of the BuJo with it)
Renae Ans if shorter bujo to bjs that might be interpreted something else 😂🙈
I love the quotes for 2019 and for 2020. They are both encouraging!
Thanks Martyna, I love them too 😄
Glad to have your channel pop up on my radar.
Thank you! :) I also have a video with my 2021 setup: ua-cam.com/video/Y21EnUH8i5E/v-deo.html
This is my first year . I like a lot of the ideas you shared. Mainly how clean and minimal it was.
Thanks Hadrina! Have lots of fun with your bujo!
I started bullet journaling in 2019. So 2020 is my second try. I really like your setup. I'm going to use some of your ideas in my journal. I think it'll work better for me than what I was doing before.
Glad to hear it Angi! :) Have a great time with your bujo this year!
I am barely going to set up a bullet journal for next year, and so many of the bujo setups I've seen are too artsy and detailed for a beginner like me, so I really appreciate this simplified version. I think this will work the best for me, so many thanks!
Glad to hear it :) Happy bullet journaling!
Thanks for sharing and happy bullet journaling in 2020! :) Keep it simple, you can do it!
Also, I like that you know what you want. If something is useless to YOU, you know it, even if other people do that.
Thanks Martyna :) Yes that's one of the best things about making your own bujo :)
The best bujo for beginners of all time
Thank you Sarah! :) I also have a 2021 setup if you're interested
funny after playing with two bullet journals and filling them up with art work and ideas from everyone else I was laying in bed and it hit me ! everyone keeps saying make it for what interests you!
I have my journal ordered and can't wait to start! thank you.
That's great, good luck Linda and happy bullet journaling! :)
Nice flip.
For my projects (Lifetime Goals), I like to use a totally separate book - an STM (Scribbles That Matter A5 Iconic dotted) book. (I‘m artsy, so I colored in some of the icons with permanent markers.)
Like yours, my layout for projects is also a 2-page spread.
Oh that sounds so handy! Thanks for sharing Brenda and happy bullet journaling! :)
Just got a bullet journal for Christmas, honestly very intimidated by all the creativity and art from other people. Thank you for sharing your journal.
Ah yes I can totally imagine! :) Bullet journaling doesn't have to difficult or time consuming, it can be simple and effective :)
Sounds great! I especially like the divide between work stuff and home/personal stuff
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. as a person with a very volatile mood, overly fancy bullet journals piss me off so much. I was kinda mad nobody was doing a plain minimalist planner, but there you are!! Thanks and keep up the updates!
Haha you're very welcome Dorothy, glad you liked my video! :) Bullet journaling doesn't have to be difficult or time consuming
Thanks Emily, glad you found my setup helpful! :)
Aw that's so sweet of you to say, thank you! 💕 Of course we'd love to have you on Patreon 🤗
I have followed your advice and set up a journal. I had always been put off in the past by feeling it had to be a work of art ( which is funny because I am actually an artist) instead of a tool to help me. Thank you for giving me inspiration.
Amazing, good luck with it and happy bullet journaling!! :)
I am new to bullet journaling and found your video very helpful, I particularly like the cleanness of your setup. The second 2020 week task layout is my personal preference. Thank you for sharing your ideas.
July thru November spells Jason. I never noticed that before. I feel like there is a secret message in that 😂
I saw that too, I was like Jason D? Jason Derulo?
When I first noticed that (years ago) Jason D was Jason Donovan. 😁

I have never used a bullet journal, but I think it may be something that I would like to use. I have a stationery business that I would like to focus on this coming year. It has been slow, but I would like to dedicate my time to it making stationery and other projects. Thanks for sharing your tips on journaling.
You're very welcome and that's awesome, good luck with your stationary business! :)
Wow! I have been doing BJ for 4 years and have tried a number of formats. I love the simplicity of your system. Thank you!
That's great! Actually I just finished my new setup for 2021 and will post a video about it soon, so feel free to check that out as well 🤗
I'm new to bullet journaling.
You said it perfectly :) Happy bullet journaling, let me know how it goes and if you have any questions!
You're very welcome Nicole, happy bullet journaling! :) Let me know how it goes
I want to start a bullet journal, preferably a minimalist set up. I found you by searching for bullet journal. Thanks for the simple ideas! I like the simplicity of it.
Thanks so much Sharon :) Good luck with your bujo!
I really admire you using your old notebook, even though it's the start of a new year. Truly inspirational. Might have to start doing this myself. I am beginning to hate unnecessary waste.
Thanks! :) Yes it's such a shame to get rid of a notebook that's still half empty :)
I agree. It's great that you continued with the same book.
Oooh, I really like the look of that second spread for the weeks. Plenty of space for ideas and seeing the layout of your week!
Thanks Emma :) I think I prefer that one too
Great video and ideas--Thank you!
Thanks for sharing and I love the idea of adding a reflection part!
I love the annual quote and the first of the week planner. Thanks for the ideas! I started working on my 2020 during this video.
So glad you liked it Christiana and I love that you started yours for 2020 during the video :D Happy bullet journaling!!
I'm so glad to hear that Hannah :) You can totally do it, bullet journaling doesn't have to be complicated or time consuming at all :) Happy bujo-ing!
Simple Happy Zen Thank you so much!!!
I'm just getting started in this whole thing. I'm watching a bunch of different start up type videos. I like yours because it is minimalistic. I have a lot of kids grandkids a business to run and a lot of toudouze to do
Your simple det up is great. Less intimidating than the more creative ones.
Thanks Melissa :)
You're very welcome and I'm so glad the setup was helpful for you! Happy bullet journaling and take good care
Your layouts are lovely. subscribed!
Thank you so much. I finally started my billet journal. This was the easiest on to follow and start with. I appreciate it.
Thanks so much George, I appreciate that! :)
Exactly! :) It's so calming to know everything is in one place!
Sounds good, thanks for sharing Rebecca :D
You're very welcome, happy you enjoyed my setup! :) Happy bullet journaling
I just wonder why you pre setup your days , what do you do when you your daily tasks and appointments don't fit ? Or when you are unable to journal for a few days ? Wouldnt that create unnecessary empty pages ?
One of the vest bujo tutorials at there
Congratulations
Thank you so much! :D
You're very welcome Marci and I'm glad you liked my ideas! :D Happy journaling!
Thank you for all the work you put into helping me become a minimalist.
You're very welcome Kimberly, thank you for watching and commenting :) Have a great day!
i’m new to this channel & i subscribed even before the video ended!!
love her gentle demeanor and the compassion/kindness she embraces for herself & her goals.
a true role model!
can’t wait to binge on her previous & undoubtably lovely work!
Wow thank you so much Julia, I really appreciate that :) Welcome to the channel!
I’m just getting started with bujo-ing. I love your setup.
I think I like the daily boxes setup better than the brackets. Lots of great ideas. Thank you for sharing
So glad you liked the setup :) Happy bujo-ing!!
I’m a bullet journal beginner. Thank you for this very helpful video. I will now be able to set up my own journal.
That's great! So glad it was helpful :) Happy bujo-ing!
That's a great idea, kind of like a bujo / scrap book hybrid :)
It's almost 2020! I have to say that one of the greatest thing in the year 2019 is discovering your UA-cam channel :) I love starting my mornings by listening to your videos.
Wow that's so sweet, thank you so much, that really means a lot to me 🤗🌺💖
Great tips as always!
Thanks so much Lara and thanks for looking forward to my video 🤗🌺 Happy journaling!!
I use bullet journal for a long time, and LOVED the idea of stop writing the calendar at the yearly log, I never look at it anyway.
Your last option for the weekly log is great! I am about to try it for this current week.
Thanks for all your amazing tips.
Thanks so much, so glad you liked the setups! :) Have a great week
Thanks Dana and good luck with setting up your bujo!
Thx!
That's great! I can definitely imagine giving it up if it becomes too much work. Easy is the best way for me :)
Thanks so much, so happy you found my video too :)
I am newbie...I have always used a day planner and the type has changed from year to year but this might be something I try in 2021.
Peace
Thanks Anthony, happy bullet journaling in 2020!
I bought a ton of stuff several months ago when I first hears of this, but I got discouraged very quickly because I don't think I'm capable of 'doodling' Your method is great. I am 76 and I have saved and subscribed to your channel. I am ready now. Thank you so much!
That's so cool! Happy bullet journaling :) I'll be uploading my 2021 setup soon as well
I love this video! My first bullet journal video. I love that it doesn't cost money and gives you a full plan without being too overwhelming! thank you for sharing!!
You're very welcome! Bullet journaling is great for many reasons :) If you try it out, let me know how it goes and if you have any questions!
Thanks so much for your supersweet comment! :) I'm so glad the video is helpful for you, happy bullet journaling!! :D
Hello & Happy 2020! Last year your bullet journaling video resonates with me and it helped me start bullet journaling. a minimalist approach is what works for me! I am still bullet journaling. Very excited for this refresher Thank You 🙏🏽 😊
That's amazing! :) Thanks Diana, happy bullet journaling! And Happy New Year of course :D
@@SimpleHappyZen I like the new/easier year at a glance. Anything that makes it easier to use. Happy BJ'ing!
Thumbs up. I am just beginning. Thank you for the simple and the simple choices.
Thanks Madeline and happy bullet journaling!
Que chevere y sin tanto rollo, me gusto la manera que simplificas en Bullet Journal!!! Gracias.
"No difficult artsy stuff". I'm all ears till the end of the video :)
I also have a video sharing my 2021 setup! :)
Oh that sounds great! :) Thanks for sharing Lisa
I've always used a regular planner and last year I just couldn't have a planner and it was a nightmare, This year I decided to do a BUJO and I'm suuuper exited, I think it fits my needs perfectly
That's great Mim, happy bullet journaling, let me know if you have any questions!
Practical and elegant use of space. Nice! Good ideas here.
Thank you! :)
Yes! Just in time! This feels like the best time to start preparing for the new year. I think I will start mine today 😀 the washi tape is so helpful! Thank you 🐣for hatching good beginnings!
So glad you liked it! :) Yes feeling organized and prepared is half the battle :) I can't wait to start 2020. Have a wonderful weekend!
@@SimpleHappyZen I love your channe! Thank you, and you have a good week! ⚘
Happy to hear it, thanks Esther!! Will make a new one in a couple of weeks for 2021 :)
@@SimpleHappyZen that's very good news!! Thank you in advance, I am looking forward to it 😊💛
Oh that sounds really great! Thanks for sharing Cecilie
I got the same color! Is so refreshing every time I open it
It's pretty isn't it :) I also have a video with my 2021 setup here: ua-cam.com/video/Y21EnUH8i5E/v-deo.html
Yes!! I actually think I'll prefer using that one... Thanks Francesca :)
Exactly!!! Couldn't have said it better myself haha :)
Yes bujo-ing is so much fun and it really helps me to be organized as well :D
