I cooked a 3 pound chuck roast like this last night for my daughter and son in law last night. Oh my, it was a hit. I seldom cook for anybody but myself anymore. I can see many family dinners in our future. I had my doubts about the veggies, but they were perfect! Thank you for you time and trouble. Keep them coming.....the roast and veggies were almost all consumed😊👍
I made this for my hubby tonight, he said it was the best chuck roast I’ve ever cooked in 34 years of marriage! I’ll be making it again soon! Thank you for sharing!

I just finished making the pot roast with vegetables. It's the very first meal I have prepared in my Ninja. It is delicious! Thanks so much for putting out videos for us Ninja Foodie virgins it was a huge crowd pleaser!
I tried this tonight and I forgot about the beef stock but I substituted it by seasoning my meat and used 2 cups of water and it turned out absolutely amazing! Used the same time and temp. The veggies were perfect still slightly firm but melted in your mouth! Love this NINJA! THANKS JOHN!

Hi John, I got 8qt Ninja a couple of weeks ago and have done different kinds of meals that turned out pretty good. Tonight I'm make a Chuck Roast like your video. My roast is like 3.94 pounds so I'm pressure cooking it for an hour and a half. That is the stage I'm at in making. I have all the vegetables that you used. The only thing different that I'm going to do is add some seasoning to it to make it taste better. Don't know what I'm going to use...but will decide when I'm at that adding the vegetables. I'm sure its going to turn out great. I'm going to subscribe.
That sounds perfect, i like the fact you are adding the seasonings you prefer, I would back the last four minutes down to two but that is up to you...I'm sure it will be excellent...keep us posted and thanks for watching!!!
I find that the meat i cook in the ninja is always perfect (if i follow directions) where in the old days it was a game of chance. didn't matter if i did it in the oven or slow cooker i couldn't know for sure my meat would be tender and tasty. changed my life.
I got my Foodi a few weeks ago and finally got the nerve to try it tonight. Thought i would start out with something familiar like roast and veggies. I used your video to get an idea on settings and time. Turned out great!! Loved using beef broth! Willl be looking for more videos.
I believe that would work, you could always put the lid back on and cook more if not but even at 4 minutes they were soft but still had some resistance to a fork and held their shape but I would not go any more than 4. Thanks for watching!
Making this recipe today (March 25, 2019). Only items I did not have on hand (and forgot to get when I ran to the store [insert forehead slap here] are the mushrooms and the celery. Caught so much much potatoes, “Frankenstein” carrots, and cabbage at the Irish/Italian parade yesterday here in New Orleans, that I decided to combine the veggies with this roast recipe. Purchase a 6lb Boston Butt roast from Sam’s Club, and trying out using the Chicken Bone Broth for the 1st time. Roast seasoned, stuffed with Garlic, seared and almost done on PC mode (1:20-. hoping that is going to be enough pc time). House smells absolutely AMAZING!! Veggies will more than likely have to be done in batches (6.5 qt Foodi) If it tastes anything like it smells, the END RESULT is going to be beyond words!
Came out very good & flavorful, but I think it could have been a bit more tender. Maybe it was the cut of meat-Butt Roast (was not as marbled as I would have liked it to have been)-or maybe because it was a larger cut of meat (6lbs), it should have either have been a COMPLETE NR, or NR’d for a longer time before QR’d. Was aiming to keep it whereby it would be tender & juicy, yet still able to be sliced, vs that of a shredded consistency. Majority of the time, I generally use about the same size roast as demo’d in the videos, but having quite a few more family members over for my daughter’s b-day tonight, hence the larger cut of meat. But I do like the recipe. Extremely Flavorful! That Bone Broth does wonders for adding flavor!
@@davemarrione5605 all is well that ends well and if it was good that is really all that matters, I have not tried that particular cut in a while but I plan to before long, thanks for posting your results and thank toy very much for watching!!!
Glad I found this video. I like this one better I think than the other roast video. I think longer is better with the roast. I love this video! I like my celery cooked well.
@@JohnSanders Well,it took 50 minutes in the Instant Pot so I am doing it for 1hr. 5 minutes for a 2.6 lb.Chuck Roast tonight. I will definitely let you know. I followed your post by the book on all the ingredients even the Avocado Oil. Thanks!
Everything turned out perfect. Not sure why your celery was overcooked because mine was perfect. My carrots were even a tad firm which is the way I like them. The only thing I would do differently is to add more seasoning. Everything else is great. Have tons of leftovers.
Well Mr. John, THIS one is the recipe I followed to make my first pot roast and it was EXCELLENT!!!😄 You did a very good job with this video. I will make this recipe again. Thank you!
It will make a great Sunday dinner and yes, the pool table has been handed down to my son, many years of gatherings around it and it's a little bitter sweet but I know it's just down the road and I hope it does the same thing at his house for many more years...Thank you for watching!
The receipe looks so good. I do not have any instant pots. How would i make it in my ninja grill. Pot roast is one of my favorite meals to make in my Slow cooker and dutch oven. I never thought of celery i will add it and i am sure it Will add a great taste to it. I am going to try it this weekend. And i Will add rosmary and tyme to it. I just perscribed. And i have watched quite a few and Will try a few in the coming weeks.
Hi there, unless I missed it, but do you season the meat at any point? I am going to try this for Thanksgiving. Didn’t notice any seasoning. Thank you for your time.
I didn't but sometimes the broth or other items have a lot in them... but it is really dependant on your taste...I would just taste at a point that the meat is done and then add seasoning accordingly...I think that is the best way to assure not over seasoning...I hope this helps and thank you for trying the recipe!!!
John...we LOVE your videos! You do a truly great job. Question for you sir: Can the chuck roast be pressure-cooked immersed in the broth, or does it need to be on the rack immediately above the broth? The reason I ask is I watched another chuck roast video and the person placed the roast directly in the broth. Thank you!
It probably could but I always use the trivet or at least a few vegetables to lift it off of the bottom just so the heat can disperse and heat the entire broth more even... and help from getting a burn light... hope this helps, glad to hear you enjoy my videos and thanks for watching!!!
Thank you, its gonna take awhile getting used to but so far so good just haven't figured out where the camera works best at...but...thank you for watching and for your comments!!!
John I don't know why you were fretting about the celery because it turned out great! it's the same result as if you would have cooked it in a slow cooker and celery cooked all the way through is always better than a crisp stalky celery. No one wants that in their pot roast.
Hi John...after watching this video, might I suggest adding your celery, onion and garlic cloves in with the pressure cooking of your meat. Just a thought.
What I would love to learn is where did you find a garlic press that not only works so well as yours did, will also last for more than 5 times before it is either clogged or breaks??
That does sound good...I would wait and add it after the pressure cooking time...It could cause a burn light otherwise...let us know how it turns out and thanks for watching!!
Hey Mr. John, I just went out and bought another roast to make for friends - I loved this that much! LOL! Anyway, my new roast is 4 + pounds, how long should I pressure cook a roast that large? Love you - keep your videos coming! 😁
I wouldn't add much time...maybe 5...just make sure you don't over fill the vessel...thank you for trying this recipe and posting your excellent results!!!
Not a bad idea, I have never tried that but I think they would cook pretty much the same due to the high temperature, but not sure... thanks for watching and commenting!!
Where did you get that Lazer looking temperature gun at that you checked the oil temp with? Where can I buy me one of those??? Can it check meats etc???
I got it at Sams club but my local club does not carry it any more...but you need an instant read thermometer with a probe to test the internal temp of meats....that infrared thermometer you see is a very handy device and not that expensive...I think I gave twenty five bucks for that one!
I've honestly never tried one that weight so I'm not positive...I would reduce it though and that sounds ok ...thanks for watching and let us know if you can...thanks!!
Why did you cook the roast for an hour then take it out and cook it longer? Wouldnt that over cook it? Also, what’s then on t do your next step why not just throw it all in there at once? Nvm just cooked it and it came out amazing. Made it for my wife and I.
This looks awesome, John. Great job and an awesome recipe. Can't wait to try it in my Foodi. I think I may do 2 minutes rather than 4, but it's fun to play with the recipe, etc....each time is a little bit different...But, the overall process (2 step) is great....and I'll keep the celery in, as you said, for the flavor...Thanks again....Love the videos, recipes and channel...Thanks for all of your work putting these videos together.

Looks so good! Love your videos!
Thank you and thanks for watching them!!
Just got this for Xmas This is the first thing I'm making 51 min left
That is great...let us know how it turns out!!! Thanks for watching!
@@JohnSanders OK...thanks John! Much appreciated.
Hey John looks delicious 👍🏽
Thank you... It was very good... Thanks for watching!!!
Great Recipe John,, I would of liked to seen a little more emphasis on the marriage of the gravy with the meal as well.. great job tho
It is a really good part of it...the more gravy the better...lol...thanks for watching!
Remodel looks fantastic! Love that wood paneling and that you carried over that finish on the cabinets. Beautiful and functional for your videos 👍🏼
Thank you, its gonna take awhile getting used to but so far so good just haven't figured out where the camera works best at...but...thank you for watching and for your comments!!!
Great video, was so tender but it had no flavor? It needs seasoning.
I now add a little kitchen bouquet sometimes... thanks for watching!!!
John I don't know why you were fretting about the celery because it turned out great! it's the same result as if you would have cooked it in a slow cooker and celery cooked all the way through is always better than a crisp stalky celery. No one wants that in their pot roast.
You do have a point...thanks and thanks for watching!
Hi John...after watching this video, might I suggest adding your celery, onion and garlic cloves in with the pressure cooking of your meat. Just a thought.
Maybe some rosemary and thyme.
Not a bad idea...that would work very well...thanks and thanks for watching!
This is the third great recipe for my Ninja Foodi from John. I couldn't subscribe fast enough. You should, too.
Thank you and thanks for the encouraging words...glad you subscribed!!!
What I would love to learn is where did you find a garlic press that not only works so well as yours did, will also last for more than 5 times before it is either clogged or breaks??
I'm sorry but I do not remember what it was...but...thanks for watching!
It may be the Garlic Twister made by NexTrend. There's one on Amazon called Garlic Twister 4th Generation.
When did you put the spices in, I might have missed it??? Only garlic? Salt pepper other spices
Sometimes I rely on the broth and any other ingredient that contains salt etc, and then add salt if needed at table.
Got to be father of the year!
It does help when you cook every once in awhile...thanks for watching!!!
Hi. Making this again. How long should I pressure cook a 3 lb bottom round roast 🤔😊
I have never done that exact cut so I'm am not sure... maybe someone reading can answer better...
@@JohnSanders Thank you. I just picked up one at Publix not paying attention to what it was. Thinking a roast is a roast 😳😊
It will be good in sure...
I’m making it now. How would you add cream of mushroom soup as gravy. Would you put it in the initial juice when you cook the pot roast?
That does sound good...I would wait and add it after the pressure cooking time...It could cause a burn light otherwise...let us know how it turns out and thanks for watching!!
I’m going to try this with tri tip...
That sounds good... let me know how it turns out... thanks for watching!!!
Which one should I get ninja or instant pot I'm a 1st. Timer ? Thank you 💖
It really depends on the lid design you like best...imho...thanks for watching!!!
Making this tonight also
Very good to hear... let me know what you think and thanks for watching!!!
I saw someone wrap the veggies in aluminium foil and placed it on top of the silver thing(whatever u call it. I forgot)
I have a 1.5 pound chuck roast. Should I back the time down to 60 minutes for step one?
I've honestly never tried one that weight so I'm not positive...I would reduce it though and that sounds ok ...thanks for watching and let us know if you can...thanks!!
Why did you cook the roast for an hour then take it out and cook it longer? Wouldnt that over cook it?
Also, what’s then on t do your next step why not just throw it all in there at once?
Nvm just cooked it and it came out amazing. Made it for my wife and I.
Pot roast is my favorite. I just bought the OP300 will this recipe work in that Unit?
Yes, you will need to cut down on the vegetables..just watch your max fill line that is marked inside of the liner..thanks for watching!!
@@JohnSanders Great thanks for the help. Definitely I will.
John I made this for dinner yesterday and oh it was so incredibly delicious. Loving the Ninaj foodi!
I did this the other night. It was awesome. I tried the mushrooms but I just don’t see what the big hoopla is about. Lol
Thanks Tim and I'm glad you enjoyed it... thanks for watching and trying the recipe!!!
Could you cook the meat in the beef broth instead of using the rack?
I'm sure it would be fine...thanks for watching!!!
Please send link for your sons chicken enchiladas one pot Delicious recipe
Come on now, fabulous
Thank you and thanks for watching!
What was the name/brand of the garlic mincer?
I use a Zyliss mincer...thanks for watching!
@@JohnSanders John, thanks for your quick response. I'll look for one.
It is one of my favorites...and thank you for watching my videos!!!
I'm cooking it today
Thank you!!!
Gravy where is it
