    Big fan here, John! Decided to try this recipe last night and all I can say is that this one is one of the BEST recipes I have done to date in any of my Ninja's! Had a different cut of steak (think mine was a top sirloin with less fat than a ribeye). Still came out excellent and will more than likely be my go to steak and potato recipe from now on. Keep up the great videos!

      So do you both recommend a steak comes out better in this than a grill ? I'm trying to make up my mind which ninja to buy the smart grill or this 🤔

    • @JohnSanders

      I would say they are both good... but different... no smoke or char grill flavor which is a good thing to me sometimes...

    I made this last night and it was AMAZING!!! Seriously, one of the best steak and potatoes dinners I've ever had. The steak turned out absolutely PERFECT. Crispy on the outside where the fat is and then juicy and tasty inside. Better than 99% of the restaurants out there. I'm buying another steak this week and will do it again! Thanks John!

    Looks great John! Dear hubby just sat down for his morning kiss and saw I was watching your video and wondered if that was what we were having for dinner tonight! I truly lost it when you explained how you like your steak rare and if the vet got a hold on the animal he could have him back on his feet in 30 minutes. I literally laughed out loud! So funny. Now a detail question, your Ninja Foodie is the newer model and you said to air broil - is that the same thing for mine just air crisp?

    • @JohnSanders
      @JohnSanders  4 роки тому +2

      Thank you and I'm glad y'all enjoyed it... and yes... if your machine does not have a broil feature just set it to air crisp and set temp as high as it will go... thank y'all for watching!!!

    Just made this, John. Turned out great. My steak was smaller than yours, so when it got to 128 I took it out and kept cooking the potatoes until they were crispy. Great recipe and video...That's the thing I love about the Foodi Air Crisp mode is you can lift the lid as often as you want to check things...said it before and I'll say it again, I just love that non-stick liner. Really appreciate the channel and your hard work putting them together. All the best, my friend.

    2) Questions..
    1). What is that amazing looking folded steel knife you're using to cut the steak?
    2).Do you live (film) in a Barndo? Been really looking into those for about a year now

    John, thanks so much for this! FIRST of all, this is maybe the BEST way of cooking a steak out there.
    I did the following: The solids (not the liquids which can't really be of use) that are left over in the colander - that's GARLIC that I smashed, THYME and PARSLEY that's been hydrated and activated...I had an idea that stuff was gold. And I was right. I spooned it all right over those potatoes, as I was coating them with butter in the step before fixing the steak. I think it added a lot to the incredible taste of the potatoes (I made a pretty big batch of potatoes and finished EVERY BIT of them!) Next time out, I'll smash more aggressively. The smash makes little bits of potato skin that get crisped up when the steak is broiling. I also added some thyme to the steak before broiling. Like you said repeatedly, it's up to us. BUT I bet if you try these ideas next time you cook this (I'd do it EVERY DAY if it was healthier and I was richer!!!) you'd be a very happy chef!

    Ooh I'm definitely making this asap! Those potatoes remind me of how my mother used to boil her potatoes some and then fry them in butter and they were my favorite! This is Def a much easier process so I can't wait to taste them😋🍴Thanks for the great recipes and videos!!

      Very glad to hear you like my personal favorite video of all time!!!... (it's one of mine of course)...lol... but... I did it again recently and I would say to make sure to temp your potatoes after pressure cooking to make sure your around 195 or so because i found that different type and size of potatoes sometimes need a little more time... but if you have these exact potatoes it is all good!!! And I promise... and I mean I promise... you are going to love this recipe!!! Thank you for watching and please let me know what you think!!!

      I had my Husband pick up several bags of those exact potatoes at the grocery store today bc I know I already love them...since I use them around here so much already. I have a feeling I'll be making these potatoes all the time for sure!! Since I can't eat steak every night, I might just throw a Lil bacon up top whenever we want these potatoes as a side dish😂 I know it won't be as good as the rendered steak fat dripping down but...I bet it will be just fine lol. Thanks again 🙂

    Hey how is my favorite Cook? Love ya... I saw a video (someone else) who did a Pressure cook and a Crisp like u did with the Rack, BUT he left the liquid in the pan during the crisp. Now I would assume the liquid would make it hard to crisp something but he seems to do it just fine (it was chicken) and there was plenty of liquid left afterwards as well (in other words it didn't seem to evaporate in his Ninja foodi.)
    Could you look into that? Like in your dish here - you had the starts of a good gravy or liquid for the potatoes, especially if the steak drippings fell into tit as it cooked. does this work?

    • @JohnSanders
      @JohnSanders  4 роки тому

      I don't always remove the liquid... the potatoes will not be as crispy on this but it probably still be really good... I'm sure a really good gravy could be done with the drippings... thanks for watching and glad you enjoy my videos!!!

    Hi John. I just got my Ninja Foodi and bought 3 steaks today to cook on my first try. I just realized that I probably cannot fit all in at once, and one of us eats the steak well done. Any recommendations on how to prepare them? Maybe cook the well done steak first? I’m curious about how long the potatoes can cook without becoming mushy. Thanks

    Hey JELLY007, I love your video, have a suggestion for you. I no longer buy Beef or Chicken broth. I use "Better Than Bouillon" 1/2 to one cup of water (I use hot tap water) with one tablespoon of "BTB" mixed in the water and wella-laa. No fuss and no wasted broth. I love the Roasted Garlic flavor, but they have several flavors. I hate to see you waste a whole container of broth. Give Better Than Bouillon a try. Cook on Brother. My Foodie arrives tomorrow. Poor Instant Pot it will be relished to the back porch. Thanks for a wonderful lesson.

      Maybe if you use filet mignon or beef tenderloin steaks...I have done it with 2 new York Strips and I might could have gotten 3 on there but 4 might be pushing it on Strips...

    Looks impressive John. The steak however doesn’t seem to have that thick and crispy maillard effect a cast iron or carbon steel pan will provide to transcend it from good to incredible. Will try those potatoes.

    • @JohnSanders
      @JohnSanders  4 роки тому

      It is similar to a steak cooked in a broiler and the outer surface is very acceptable... but it is a different result than cast iron gives... but it is really really good and you will love those potatoes!!! Thank you for watching!!!

    I think this is my third time to comment on this same video. Since my wife and I like our steaks medium well instead of with the "moo" left in them, I experimented today. I put the steaks seasoned with Butt Rub and black pepper on the lower rack and cooked them on Air Crisp at 390º for 14 minutes. Both the steaks and the smashed potatoes came out perfect for us, and I didn't even have to flip the steaks. When anyone asks me about air frying ANYTHING, I just direct them to your videos. You da man!

    Hi, I'm a subscriber. I was just watching your video on the I-P Vortex air fryer Dec 2019. Where did you buy the little cast iron round pan, I didn't see it listed unless I overlooked it. I got a Vortex at Walmart, when I got it home the box had a warning on it for California possible cancer causing issues, I've had a PowerXL for several years and don't remember seeing that warning sign on the box. So I returned the I-P Vortex. The other thing I had purchased another Power XL and it also had the strong plastic smell, after washing several times, so I sent it back and ordered another one (which is the one I still have) and it didn't have that plastic smell. So I don't think the people complaining about the plastic smell it has anything to do with the paper strips (in the Vortex) with the packing material. The plastic smell should go away after doing a preheat without food, but as I experienced with my Power XL, sometimes it doesn't.
