i’ve heard about the persona 5 2015 debug prototype. i’ve already seen some stuff but i’ll investigate it myself whenever i have time. 🖤 www.patreon.com/bubbletea_
Honestly the idea of starting a new Persona game normally for the first few days then suddenly being prompted with a difficulty select sounds really awesome. I realize P5 sort of does this with its en medias res intro, but playing the first week of a Persona game with just its social elements then suddenly being thrown into the crazy RPG stuff sounds really cool to me lol
These prototypes/early builds are very interesting. If only there were more early builds uncovered that use unused characters, bosses, music, and other general concepts.
for the p3 prototype i think that the programmers names and what was in the categories was mean to be as a guide for what they were supposed to be focusing on, AKA their job.
It's always interesting to get a feel of prototypes, as someone who is studying a software career it somewhat feels I too could do similar stuff, if I had the knowledge. Also, that conclusion? 10/10
Can I just say, thank you not only for the video, but also the detailed description. Specifically wanted to mention the OST that listed in order. Absolutely appreciate that. Amazing work 🙌
interesting, could you do one on smt? I emulated Strange journey, the og, and redux and played with some of the cheats. I used the wall through walls to skip some parts and discovered in sector Eridanus on the third floor just beyond the elevator to the boss, I discovered an option to change your alignment by answering some questions. I am not a programmer or proficient in computing, it was just some things I stumbled upon. It worked in both versions. Sorry had to make a correction.
The "Read!" turning yellow I would assume indicates whenever stored data is being read. If it is just related to the battle or the game as a whole, I am unsure. I assume it is just for battling. Typically, especially for video games, you want to minimize the number of reads and writes for data as possible. Today, especially with the advent of SSDs replacing HDDs in hardware as time goes on and HDDs being a lot more efficient, making this as optimal as possible can be seen as less of a priority, except when dealing with 3D objects and algorithms revolving around texturing.
I appreciate you. I saw this video had posted a little while ago and thought, "THANK GOD, Something GOOD to watch on UA-cam." Anyway yeah you're cool or whatever, thanks for the vids.
Nice video man, I think your channel is fairly underrated due to how high the quality of videos are on the page. I hope you gain the recognition that your content deserves.
Great video, I hope you make a game in the future if it's something you're still interested in. Without in-depth programming knowledge or the context a lot of these debug menus are tough to use or understand. It's pretty interesting how you can break Persona so easily!
Could you also try to get your hands on some unfinished Social Links (I don't mean you haven't finished them, I meant the Social Link being unfinished in the game and scrapped during development) for the male party member Social Link. What Yuriofwind talked about in his video on the development of Persona 3 is you were supposed to have a choice on if you want to play as either a male protagonist or a female protagonist. If you're wondering why that sounds like Persona 3 Portable, that's because it was actually an idea they had for the original game, which they ended up scrapping and going with the male protagonist due to time constraints, but it was finally implemented into the PSP version and updated with the female main character being given a slight redesign. There's evidence that how the female route was originally supposed to go back then is in terms of party member Social Links, it was the other way around where if you were to play as her, you would never at any point get to form Social Links with the female party members, only with the male party members, much like with the male protagonist in the final game. And in The Cutting Room Floor's page about Persona 3, over at the unused Social Links section, there's the Social Link status portraits of the rest of the party members each having a portrait for their Social Links either at a normal state or a reversed/broken state that are still in the game's files, and this part even points out that you were supposed to choose between a male protagonist for a female protagonist, but was cut due to time constraints. So, if you've ever wondered why you can't form Social Links with the male party members in FES when you should've, now you know and yes, even I think this is stupid as both protagonists should form Social Links with all their party members regardless. I wonder if there's any leftover data for this scrapped female route in the original game that you could find in the prototype?
Here's a weird question: Do you think the anime Moon Phase had any influences on Persona 3? I'm asking cause it feels like there was a tone shift on Persona 3 around that time, and it wouldn't be the first time Atlus was influenced by stuff.
Wishing you good luck with making that game one day, as I finally did that a few years back, but there is so much i had to fix post release... it feels like I just want to trash it and, re-do it... maybe one day I can do it all over again, but this time with the foresight of what I actually need instead of piling code upon code.
Idk I feel like you are a lil wrong in that prototypes aren't interesting. I mean... Look at the most sought after demo in the Pokemon community, the Spaceworld Gold/Silver demo. And that demo shows how the game took a 180 from the original concept when it changed directors as well as unreleased designs we theorize that made it into spiritual successors or somewhat remained into the final game. You never really know what you find and channels like oddheader also prove that easter eggs also reside in finished games or demos too.
They’re pretty easy to find. Most discovered prototypes can be found on Hidden Palace’s website, if you read the description. They’re also not in ISO form. They’re in a BIN and CUE file format.

13:09 i love how these debug menus look! That old windows style titlebar and window appearance is kinda charming
It makes me very happy how the Persona 3 prototype was on my Birthday because it's one of my favorite games of all time

I believe that may have been for debugging purposes. Were they on other floors or just Eridanus?

I never hear of prototypes of smt/persona games so this is amazing TO HEAR
This is such a great video, very cool topic and editing, hope to see a P4/5 prototype some day
Very well researched and way amazing presentation... Definitely should be proud of it, full on awesome 💜🖤💜
Keep the good work
hey you're pretty cool guy. Thanks for reminding me how much I love persona 3's character designs. Probably my favorite looking cast of the series.
This was super well edited and informative my man, great job on this one!
Another great video as always bubbletea, worth the wait for sure and I can't wait til the next one 👌
There's a good chance you've heard this by now but a Persona 5 debug build just got dumped today, might be worth doing a video on
i heard about it. i'll look into it at some point.

Yeah!!! I want to see if there's any leftover data in the Persona 3 Debug disk, and maybe also any leftover data for the first persona games too!!!
This has aged nicely

....Wait...
Cool video
You gotta do a follow up
oh wow playing while the games ended and there’s no NPCs but just a few people huh
Finally, Makoto Yuki gets to be alive
There's nothing more fun than messing with debug menus
Incredible!!
Why is that unused SMT Nocturne track titled "Sound Test"?
I didn't know that, so i just lost tons of Persona 3 Fes Saves, for nothing.

Bubble tea how do you make that moving blue background? It looks really cool and I wanna make something similar?
i looked up a tutorial on animated texture backgrounds
Fascinating
Now let's see P4 and P5
Sorry i can't pay attention in the persona 3 credits because my eyes are full of tears
I love P3 and learning more stuff ability it.
Oh localization debug prototypes are cool. Nice.
Edit: Wait, you’re telling me I can be thrown into a creepypasta scenario on invalid dates? Wow.
did you test setting the date to januray 31st in persona 3? do you think it would start the nyx fight?
you're given time on the 31st before the final excursion to tartarus, so no.
What anime is the girl at 14:50 from? It's a cute background
