It was an interview he gave after he was attacked by Zionist groups over the speech he gave in canada. It has deep meaning because today you see the real antisemites given a pass because the support the Israelis and hate Muslims more. And those who criticize Israel including holocaust survivors are labeled antisemites.

Rabbi Yaakov Shapiro has taught me so much about the difference between zionism and religious Jewry. He has made it crystal clear to me and many others how zionism hijacked those pious, fine people who faithfully follow Judaism.

It is very important to understand that even though many of today's "practicing" Jews (practicing at all; not necessarily to the level of Satmars) embrace Zionist ideology, in the period from 1897 up to the creation of Israel in 1948, that almost all religious Jews had no interest in a Jewish state in Palestine. The only Jews who were pushing for a Jewish state before Israel's birth were secular, mostly atheist and agnostic Jews. So, the whole idea that the religion, Judaism, supports Zionism and Israel, is based purely on changes in attitude since 1948, which, I believe, only happened because Jews around the world started to hear about violent Israeli conflict with non-Jewish Arab states and Palestinians, and practicing Jews unfortunately started to wish Israel power to defeat its enemies, getting drawn into Zionism. If no Jewish state had been created in Palestine to this day, I think it would be safe to say that only non-practicing Jews would have been talking about creating a Jewish state all this time.
A lot of the moral support for Zionism comes from Evangelical Christian Zionists in the US, who politicians cater to, and they actually were looking for a modern Jewish state decades before European Jews were doing so, but even with those Christians, Zionism was virtually non-existent before the middle of the 19th century. Before the 19th century, Jews and Christians alike believed that the days of a physical, political Jewish governance of Palestine was in the past only, and never expected again.
Think about it; whatever you believe about why so many Jews left Muslim countries in 1950 and 1951 and fled to Israel, Israel *needed* those people, to have a state with lots of Jews, because it couldn't get enough European Jews to come to Israel! Most of the European Jews who left mainland Europe after WW2 wanted to go to the US, Canada, Australia, etc. These Mizrahim seemed to be a second-choice afterthought, hinting at at a European bias by the founders of Israel.

Thanks rabbi Shapiro. My opinion, house resolution 888, could be very strategic in nature as part of the bigger plan and I would consider it as an example of the pressure applied on Jewish people around the world to accept I$rael as the home land. I have to think similar political and other tactical pressure was applied in the past to urge the mass migration back to the home land.

This needs to be heard. What is wrong with the choppy audio? On the question of the college presidents, the rabbi or Mr. Fein who asked the question, ASSUMES that "from the river to the sea" or "intidafa" (resistance or shaking off oppressive power) is actually calling for the genocide of Jews, instead of a cry for EQUAL RIGHTS FOR EVERYONE IN THE STATE that exists FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA (which is itself a LIKUD SLOGAN, first uttered in the 1970s BEFORE Hamas was created.).

  • @johnsheehy4192

A very interesting conversation, Rabbi Shapiro is very good at addressing everyone who may be listening in a way that is understandable regardless of what your own religious beliefs, if any, are. Lot of people in positions like him talk like they are talking only to their own congregation, which loses people.
That audio processing has got to go, though. There is some kind of noise gate or data reduction software that is dropping out the weaker vocalization, making about 1/4 of the speech in this video unintelligible. If it's a noise gate, maybe we'd rather hear the fan or the rustle of clothing that it is hiding, because we would probably hear all of the words despite the background noise.

  • @timothylink4386
    @timothylink4386 5 місяців тому

It's interesting to hear rabbi Yaakov Shapiro's sound logic about the problem with how Isreal defines itself, and tries to redefine Judaism. The thing is, a foundation not built on reason is vulnerable to this kind of attack. If there are irrational beliefs that are being defended, then irrational attacks can be used very effectively and recourse is difficult. This is why religions faction so much. I applaud some of the visionary concepts in Judaism and other religions, but it's important, I think, to not get confused and think that these notions are anything other than human derived notions. There's every evidence that all the commands given are actually given by men and then ascribed to God. The fact that they have to be written in a book or told from person to person tells you what the nature of it is. God wouldn't need that. It's that simple. A small change in the definition of God can take ithe rrationality to rationality, and the position can become much more robust and defensible, and improved over time. There is a goal to these things I think, and there is a shared vision built in to us by evolution that can be tapped. We just have to define it properly in language. It can have very good results, I suspect, as that vision of the New Jerusalam portrays. In any case I really appreciate rabbi Shaipro's words and thoughts. It's a breath of fresh air.

I'm only 15 minutes into this enjoyable talk, and a couple of questions struck me. Having low levels of patience and poor impulse control, I'm going to pose them now. Does Israel's claim that it's the nation of global Jewry not feed directly into the dual loyalty trope? If so, does that not suggest that Israel may be more harmful to Jews outside of Israel? Actually likely harmful to Jews inside the country, too, as I think of it.

    • @chatisawasteoftime
      @chatisawasteoftime 8 місяців тому

Zionists are extremely harmful to Jews both inside and outside Israel. The "we represent all Jews" is a dangerous lie. Nobody took a Jewish vote to ascertain whether they wanted Zionists as representatives. Jews are loyal citizens of the countries in which they reside, practicing their religious freedom. To have an unelected foreign head of state claim otherwise feeds into the "dual loyalty" trope. In other words, Zionists feed anti-Semitism. by making this claim that they are "representatives of Jews". THEY ARE NOT!

There is something missing here. Why does the U.S. government give such high levels of support to Israel?
The Middle East has geo strategic energy reserves and trade routes. If the United States doesn’t control them then another power will. The problem for the U.S. ruling class is to find a reliable ally in the region. They had the Shah in Iran but he was overthrown in 1979. They had Mubarak in Egypt he was ousted in the “Arab Spring” of 2010/11 which showed all the Arab regimes were vulnerable. The one left is Israel.
Joe Biden made in plain in 1986:
“It is time we stopped apologising for our support for Israel. It is the best 3 billion dollar [a year] investment we make. Were there not an Israel the United States of America would have to invent an Israel to protect her interest in the region.”

Rabbi Shapiro’s exposure of the myths, contradictions and underlying ideology of Zionism should be widely discussed.
It should be pointed out that all national myths don’t withstand close scrutiny. In the case of Zionism they are just far better documented.
I found this 1.5 hour version particularly helpful:
Has Zionism Hijacked Judaism. - Rabbi Yaakov Shapiro
      ua-cam.com/video/NQ-tRrKeAfQ/v-deo.html
      --
One thing Rabbi Shapiro doesn’t address is the explicitly anti-socialist content of Zionism or the relationship of Zionism to British Imperialism.
Vladimir Jabotinsky, the leader of the fascist wing of the Zionist movement and mentor of the future Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin once
“… Should Palestine remain Arab, Palestine would follow the orbit of Arab destinies-secession, Federation of Arab countries, and elimination of all traces of European influence. But a Palestine predominantly Jewish, Palestine as a Jewish State, surrounded on all sides by Arab countries, will in the interests of its own preservation always seek to lean upon some powerful Empire, non-Arab and non-Mohammedan. This is an almost providential basis for a permanent alliance between England and a Jewish (but only Jewish) Palestine.”
      The following should be watched:

I’m well aware that the October Revolution was the response of the Russian working class to end its involvement in the mass slaughter of WWI. (I am yet to see a critic of the Bolshevik who had any problem with workers killing themselves for profit.)
I am also aware that the Bolsheviks only won support from a majority of workers (who were giving leadership to the peasantry) only after General Konilov’s failed coup attempt of August 1917, two months before the revolution.
I’m aware that Stalin promoted the reactionary nationalist ideology of socialism in one country only after Lenin died in January 1924. Stalin’s new position rejected the view of Lenin that socialism was impossible in an economically backward country and the fate of the revolution depended on the success of workers in taking power in an advanced country. Stalin’s position represented the material self interests of the bureaucracy that was usurping power.
I’m aware the Stalin and his henchmen passively accepted Hitler’s appointment to power in January 1933, suppressing the mass anti-fascist sentiment in Germany, and allowed the destruction of the independent organisations of the German working class. Stalinism had thus become counter-revolutionary.
Stalin then gave many other services to world capitalism but among the worst were the slaughter of up to a million Marxists in the Great Terror of 1936-1939 and allowing the largest land invasion in human history to come as a “surprise”. The Nazi war of annihilation resulted in the death of 27-30 million Soviet citizens.

Actually most countries are like that. The difference is israel allocate citizenship based on their own unique principles, while other countries allocate citizenship mostly based on family and place of birth.
If you think about it, its clear that they are all the same illegitimate reasons, so there is not much difference really. The only legitimate reason would be whether someone would voluntarily want to belong to one or not. Otherwise its like when two parties make a deal among each other, but they make a deal about a third party's property without the third agreeing to, or knowing about it.
For example i was allocated hungarian citizenship, but since i didnt agree to it, i dont consider myself hungarian. I was never asked whether i want it or not, and i never joined. I dont owe loyalty to the hungarian state, or have any other obligation towards it. Yes i live in this land, and i like this land, i know the people, i speak the language and so on, but i have no moral obligation towards the state of hungary.
I might be forced to keep certain rules, but that is because im threatened with punishment if i dont comply. I look at hungary (and any other country actually) as an illegitimate and violent groups of opressors, who i hold a demand for amends, for their wrongdoing against me and my people.

With all due respect, I think you are mixing concepts. The State of Israel is a Zionist State, and any Jew who decides to make a country under the Jewish flag a fully Jewish State before the arrival of the Messiah is totally blasphemous and breaks the covenant with God. * HE is not against the PEOPLE who live there, but he is against the state of Israel and its fascist ideology, Yaakov is Jewish by religion and American by nationality, being Jewish is not a nationality * Zionist = State of Israel = Totally prohibited. And thinking like this is not Anti-Semitic, but being a Zionist is being anti-Semitic, the thing is, why are you separating Zionism from the state of Israel? An my opinion; I am a Semitic and I totally agree, the state of Israel is an illegitimate state in the eyes of God and anyone who supports it collaborates with its blasphemy, the Bible itself supports it. and I don't see how the citizens of Israel are suffering 21Century, when they control a large part of the world and have destabilized all their neighboring countries.

They are suffering exactly because SOME Jews insisted on what was wrong from the start, that is masking their modern nationalist ideology with the Torah that they didn't even believe in order to gain support from Christians. Rabbis much greater than R' Shapiro denounced Zionism even before the state was created and also DURING it's wars. Israel is not the "Jewish" state and it is not the representative of Judaism.

Israel only occupies 0.02% of Middle East. Israel has 4 Muslim Arab states surrounding it and a further 18 surrounding those. These 22 Muslim Arab states that occupy 99.98% of Middle East did ethnically cleanse 850,000 Arabic Jews post 1948. Yet at same time refused to grant citizenship. Arabic Jews went to Israel and became citizens while Arabs who were forced to leave Israel became refugees for next 75 years in all the Arab states. Can you explain that. In meantime Btw Rabbi Shapiro is Anti Zionist because he couldnt care less about Israel until the Messiah returns to herald the return of all the Jews worldwide. If you want to know what Rabbi Shapiro thinks of gentiles , get him to put a hand on the Torah and simply ask him if he considers the soul of a Gentile to be equal to that of a Jew. You may be very very surprised.

Jews in Arab states were coerced and bombed to force them to move to Israel. Read avi shlaims book on Arab Jews. You can also checkout the Lavon affair. The Zionists needed the Arabized Jews to come and shore up their population and also work the fields like the Arabs. Zionists created the troubles for them in Arab lands. Palestinian were refugees because they were driven from their lands. They were not Saudis or Jordanians or Egyptians. So why won’t they refugee in those lands? Rabbi Shapiro is against Zionism because it redefined who he is. It corrupted his faith and religion.

You should clarify what you mean by ethnic cleansing. Did the Arabs of other lands kill the arab jews and their children like the europeans were doing since the tribes migrated to Europe and Russia? Left their bodies to rot in rubbles of their homes? Please provide proof. However what is happening in palestine daily is daily murder including of little children and pregnant women of both Muslim and Christian faith, plus bombing and terrorising of doctors and international aud workers.
And that the Yemeni Jews who were encouraged by zionist agents to move to Israel had their babies stolen from them by Israeli officials and staffers while preparing to go to Israel. They were told their babies had died. Many families are still searching for their child, aunty, uncle. The zionists considered the Yemenis as culturally inferior and wanted these children raised by zionist families and to add pure Jewish genes into the Israeli population. Until now the Israeli govt refuses to give any explanation about these missing babies. Israel is democratic? Doubt it. And this is not fake news. Its true history and has been researched by prominent universities and scholars. Google it.
Democracy in israel is only for zionists. The 20% Arabs in Israel are tokens to mollify and deceive the world. When the dirty brits carved up palestine, they couldnt very well cleanse all the locals. Some had to stay as a symbol of (fake) democracy. As long as they behave and toe the line they are tolerated and not harmed. The massive anti israel protests around the world proves people don't trust the zionists.
And with the changes in judicial laws in israel, its not even democratic to israel citizens any more either. So what does Biden have to say about that? Oops, forgot that he is brain is foggy now. They shouldn't let him near the nuclear red button or they key for the box any more. Scary.

No, Yaakov is a Satmar. The Neturei Karta are a different sect, and are much more vocally anti-Israel in the general public, and are more activist. When you see an orthodox Jew with a Palestinian flag pin, or burning an Israeli flag at an Israel Birthday celebration, it is a Neturei Karta, most likely.
