This system works because I suspect the culture of Sweden is one of respect and responsibility. I wish we had that level of respect in America. Once upon a time maybe bit not now..
Great info, Robert! Here on Vancouver Island & in BC, much like all of Canada, we share your Swedish basic common sense, respectful approach to the outdoors. Our backroad (logging road) networks are also vast (as is the landscape) & we're perhaps even a little more free to roam once in the wilderness. Going off track is not a problem here. What we don't have is that fabulous network of shelters you Swedes share. That's incredible !There are some here but Sweden has Canada beat by far with that offering.
Great walk thru of how we do it Robert! Leave all places in better shape than you found it! Clean area and take the garbage with you. Very professional 👌🏻🔥🤠❤️🇸🇪
Great episode. Väldigt bra presentation, ser fram emot att se fler av dina videos. Liked and subscribed. Hälsningar från en Falköpingsbo i North Carolina
Alot of really usefull information mate 🔥I have planed to do something similar here in Norway. There are some rules that are really similar in Norway and Sweden, but still there is alot of rules that are somehow different over here. especially when it comes to free camping and what not 🔥Another great video Robert... damn you getting good at this now 👏🏻🏅
Yes, it would be great for the next time I’d like to come over to Norway (and are not considered to dangerous, like right now! ;-) ) to know what different rules apply in Norway!
I love the Swedish property use laws, but laws are usually based on prevailing beliefs, so I have a great appreciation for Swedish attitudes of respect and valuing the land to preserve and protect it. I've never been to your lovely country, but I always ADV like a Swede. I also mountain bike, hike, kayak, and camp like a Swede. I've been using OsmAnd+ as my navigation app. I love that it downloads Open Street Maps (which include gravel roads and trails) to the tablet/phone and it does all of the route planning on the device so it never communicates with servers. It doesn't spy on me and it works in remote areas where there is no cell coverage.
Excellent summary, I linked it to my FB page. Imagine my surprise when I was asked yesterday at one of the shelters why I didn’t ride my bike all the way forward on the hiking path. Because 1) IT IS a hiking path and 2) it’s within a nature reserve! Not all Swedes have that understanding of those very simple rules!
The most comprehensive info and advice I have seen about adventure riding here in Sweden. It is not uncommon to pass through very close between a farmers barn and his/hers house so lower your speed, show respect and be polite.
I've just got back from Sweden. I saw your video before and now I enjoyed it again :-) I can only recommend everyone to do it EXACTLY as it is explained in the video. i'm enthusiastic about sweden, about nature and your tracks and your work. the track is really very beautiful, i would even say lovingly designed (i can say that, we do something like that in germany). the additional information is worth its weight in gold. Perfect. thanks for this great job!
You are so professional with a lot more than just the riding part which of course is the best:-). Thanks for all your information you provide us with. Keep up the good work all of you.
Excellent. An excellent life lesson, that should be applied elsewhere too. If only more people would be so humble and respectful, we would live in a much nicer world. Great video thank you for sharing!

I moved to Sweden this month and you just answered all the questions I had before watching! Thank you incredibly much, I cannot wait before I get my motorbike here. She is still in the Netherlands and she will come to Sweden via Mongolia. (Yes you read that correctly :D)
Thanks for a good and informative video Robert! If anyone is intrested I can add that everything you said about Sweden is pretty much the same here in Finland. Just different sources for maps and places and maybe a little less cabins and such for sleeping. The tricky part with gravel roads is that you most likely don't know if you are on a publicly funded or a fully private road. But if you take it easy and be polite it won't be a problem either way (for you or for anyone else).
