This footage look soooo good ! I’ve never seen anyone else make Florida look this good lol ! And sick cars btw & of course great video overall I think you hit all the points 🙏
@@learningcameras lol I heard of the RS2 coming out on the 15th! Hopefully the added a few features that the S and sc doesn’t have but will see. Maybe I’ll wait a until I see a video on it first lol. Thx man!
If you typically shoot with a single prime lens, the Weebil is fine. It's when shooting zooms where you want to zoom without adjustment or heavier lenses like a 24-70mm F2.8 or bigger that the extra power and more adjustment room are awesome
Great video! I have the Crane 2 for my 5D Mark IV but have been looking for one that is compatible with Canon R5. Did you connect it via cable or Bluetooth?
@@learningcameras ahhhh got you. Yes I’ve been using the R5 with Crane 2 without the cables. My challenge is I’ve grown so accustomed to controlling the 5D through the gimbal so my instinct is to do the same. Your video also taught me that 2S can mount vertical for shooting reels
Hi Dan thanks for great video. My question is i use the Weebil s with a Fuji XT3 works fine but would the new Crane2s give me smoother footage or would it be overkill?
I looked at a few other youtuber's videos of the Crane 2S and yours is the only one with the off-axis roll motor. Is this an additional accessory that you have to purchase?
The one I have they don't sell anymore but this one is very similar: bhpho.to/3iWNtu6 Looks like Zhiyun is coming out with a new one though! bhpho.to/3gh6XI0
Awesome Video !! Appreciate the insight ! The footage was smoooth filming the Porsche outta the car! Question, with the Canon R5 being brand new, was there a firmware update needed for the Zhiyun Crane 2, or was it up&running from the start ? Thanks Dan!
Hi Dan, thank you for this great video (especially that 2nd setup/trick option which they don't even mention in advert for 2s and it's great for unobstructed view to back screen) My biggest concern is is this Crane2S actually compatible with EOS R5 and R6 Cameras ? On official WEB i see only compatibility for EOS R and EOS RP ? Is there some functions/buttons on gimbal that do not work with R5/R6 cameras ? thanks in advance
So I don't believe you can control the camera settings...like shutter speed from the gimbal. personally I don't do that so there was no issue there for me. I just use the gimbal for stabilization and still control my camera via the camera
@@learningcameras Thanks for answer Dan, I have good news, my Crane2s arrived and i flashed new firmware into the Gimbal, selected Canon form the menu and voila i can use shutter speed, iso and few more settings form the gimbal buttons, also start/stop video/photo button is working for R6 so i suppose it will work with R5 also. Sure it has to be connected with USB cable to gimbal but it recognizes camera functions ad CAN control some camera function (My canon has 1.1.1 firmware and crane has latest firmware too) which is great. cheers
Love the color grading in this video, i kept watching just because of the beautiful image here, dont get me wrong i watch your videos on regular basis but not interested in this gimbal
Right smack in the middle actually. This can basically hold any camera but is best suited for larger mirrorless or dslr setups. The Crane 3s is best for something like a 1dx or real video camera like a C200/red, the the weebill lab is for small mirrorless and small cameras although it can hold most standard cameras like the R5
Love the Crane 3S but it's a bit heavy and oddly cumbersome in shape for my setup, so the Crane 2S is on its way! No thanks on the tiny pp cars though. Cheers
Great video!! thanks! The gimbal I was looking for! just a question. in the video you show (3.26 and 3.29) some nice accessories that make the gimbal similar to the weebill s (one hand and two hand holder) are they coming with the gimbal? or where to buy it?
Hey! So those were announced by smallrig and they are available for preorder now: www.smallrig.com/pre-orders/ Looks like we still have about a month before they ship though. They do look amazing
@@learningcameras I just reviewed it. It's decent, but I'm struggling to get perfectly smooth results with it. I think it's best for bigger cameras and tele lenses on mirrorless cams. I'm interested in seeing what you think of it.
Waiting on DJI to drop their new Ronin kit in October as I have heard Zhiyun gimbals break easily and the cust service is hard to get in touch. I will make my decision at that point depending on features etc. Great vid though man 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Small (maybe large) problem.... How do I store/ transport the gimbal when the extension bracket is removed and it is at 45 degrees? The gimbal won't fit in the carrying case that it came in anymore. And it's too large to fit into my camera bag.
I'll be honest, I almost never store a gimbal in the actual case! I just don't like to have to tear down the gimbal to get it in the case and all these cases require you to do that. I would look and see if there is another case that might fit it or just be like me and keep it caseless lol
There is a middle section in the back arm that has 4 screws on each side. Unscrew those 8 total screws and the middle arm section removes. Check out the Crane 3S as that has an extension that uses the same method of removing/adding it although on the Crane 3S it is on a different arm
Hi Dan would this work with canon ef 24-70 f 2.8 and the ef/rf adapter. I cannot get it to balance with weebill lab. Even bought small rig counter weight plate with weights and even then difficult to balance but it was hitting parts of rig so useless. Thanks
Nope, there are a few screws in that arm and you can just remove a mid section part of that arm to get it at an angle. Took me less than 5 minutes...no rewiring or anything complicated as it is made to be user replaceable. I'm surprised Zhiyun didn't promote that more!
it has NOTHING to do with the DR of the R5 but with the DR of Clog1. the R5 sensor has great dynamic range. and it would shine through if canon would add Clog2
MikedieONE and R5 selling for retail only has c log as of now. So how come it has “nothing to do” with R5? I expect it to improve a stop with that rumored c-log 2 but even then it barely touches xt4 at almost 1/3rd the price. Even at $4000 canon just doesn’t want any overlap with their cinema line. I’m actually considering c300 mkiii and considered R5 for B cam but not anymore. As crazy as it sounds, Sony a7siii probably matches c300 iii better than R5. When matching shots from different cameras, matching colors is the easy thing but you can’t match wildly different DR clips.
The ronin S lacks locks, has a much lower payload, and has no screen which is a big deal. It's absolutely annoying to have to pull out your phone mid shoot to link up to the gimbal and adjust parameters. DJI is way behind with features right now. But, a new Ronin S is rumored to be out soon although the Crane 2s is smaller and lighter
VERY nice video Dan! I really liked this gimbal review through an actual shooting scenario, it gives an actual context that makes the story better.
Thanks Fred!

Great video! Quick question, does the quick release plate allow access to a bottom battery door. Like the Sony zv1
Yasss! More car videos man, awesome. Loved the footage here, those close ups are sick!!
Appreciate that!!!
Great video! Would this still work with battery grip on the R5?
Seems like Zhiyun is the Canon of Gimbals in terms of practical usability & ergonomics and they nailed it with the 2S.
Awesome review!!! I just got the R6 yesterday. Is this in your opinion better the the Rodin s or sc? Wasn’t sure if the sc could handle the weight
This is better than the Ronin S or SC but if you want to compare it to something DJI...wait a few days 😉

Love to see how you changed the roll motor to be lower on the 2S.
Check out @Potatoe jet's video on the Crane 2s he explains it
Do you think the 2S could support the R5 and RF 70-200? I’ve had a go but am getting a constant vibration. Love your work 👍

This is a dream gimbal to me can you post a link or tell me how to order the slanted arm option
Looking to get my first gimbal and the 2s seems like a good choice. What about the 3s?
The 3s is a bit overkill unless you are flying some seriously big video cameras
have you felt it vibrating at any point? mine works okay but also just starts vibrating a little bit, especially in underslung mode
I have noticed it occasionally in underslung mode recently . Just sent an email to Zhiyun to ask if it is a motor issue or something else
Can i ask what extension did you use in this video? it looks like some kind of monopod with tripod legs.
I can see its a monopod with KINGJOY Multi-functional 360° Rotating Support Base M3L

Hello, Do you still keep the camera stabilization, and lens stabilization on while using a gimbal?
Love to know this too, and is post stabilisation used too. Considering one.
You need to use ND filters for such b-rolls
