There's no situation where it'd be a great idea to pick up fuel directly from the bottom of the tank. Diesel is commonly referred to as a 'dirty' fuel - simply because it (nearly) always contains contaminates; usually from the large, unclean and unmaintained suppliers tanks. I'm aware that many of these devices come with a fuel filter but if that filter gets repeatedly clogged then it's just going to be a one major hassle after another. If your Diesel Heater doesn't come with a Fuel Filter then I advise installing one - it's an easy DIY job that, though occasionally fiddly, is one well worth doing. I'd recommend using the small filters with the mesh filter rather then a paper filter - because these are easily cleaned and re-useable. Note: Pay attention to the direction of fuel flow through the filters. Fuel Tank -> Fuel Filter 'bulb' -> Inside Fuel Filter Filter -> Pump. You want any contaminates to settle in the 'bulb' and outside of the actual filter mesh, not inside.
I bought a diesel heater. It was a mixed/ unfavourable experience. First off handling diesel is always a nuisance with the smell and contact with skin clothes that invariably happens. The biggest no-no was the acrid exhaust smell which kept back tracking to the air inlet despite buying a 2 meter extension. There is the running noise of the fan and tick ticking of the pump. Added to that diesel where I live in EU is expensive and running the heater all day is quite expensive. It may work for a workshop in Minnesota, or a live-aboard-van or boat but it doesnt cut it here in urban Europe
the only thing i wish it had longer ac/dc cable. when using while camping, it limits the usage to plug to portable power station instead of dual battery set up in our vehicle. yes i can get the extension cable but not ideal. also not crazy about having the ac/dc box as its not water resistant so have to keep it covered when used outside of the tent
So would it be fair to say that starting the heater on the ac/dc power supply and then straight to DC when it settles down would be the general procedure to start it up ?
If you could switch the power source fast enough with out it noticing and shutting down then sure that would be ideal for power stations rated at only 10amp DC

This is trash. Bought it on Amazon and just delivered this morning. I set everything up even went out to buy the hvac duct. And gave it a test run in my garage, started leaking in less than an hour. Diesel leaked from the bottom of the container all over my garage. Huge mess for me to clean. This is just junk. Waste of money and time. And please test a product for a longer period before promoting it.
I review several products multiple times if you watch my channel. And unfortunately you are unlucky one who got a unit someone put together poorly. So it’s really the person who assembled it verses the product. It happens. And it’s probably just the green fuel line under the tank that hand a small slit in it . I have told companies repeatedly to not use it. Send it back and get another one or take the tank off and find the leak

What filter? The intake at the bottom? It’s just a screen. It didn’t come with a filter.
@@johnnysweekends the fuel filter
@ORG4Runna oh yea, sorry. Yea zip ties on each side as the line is a real snug fit but otiker clamps are good or the screw down. It’s not pressurized as it’s just a gravity and vacuum.
You can see it in the video
What size battery supply do you need?
12v 50 amp at least that way you have long run times.
How noisey is it and will it run on cooking oil
IDK on cooking oil, its not very noisy unless maybe you sit next to it but even then its a low roaring sound I guess
Same exchanger burn chamber casting=same output as old units
Is it loud or is it just me? Did it quiet down after it warmed up?
No it’s quiet im just next to it. It’s just a low roar really but inside all you hear is air blowing.
I have the same heater. While I like it it is a 4kW not 5-8kW. I have no idea why the lie about the specs.. I threw my POS Vevor in the dumpster….HCalory is much better..
What was wrong with your vevor?
Thanks for the info I was one button tap away from ordering a vevor phew 👍
@@baileymotouser error prolly 😂
The version that:s metal is less expensive and has altitude compensation.
This one has altitude compensation as well
Nice little set up how often would you change the fuel filter?
Would depend on how often and how much you use it. Once a year with regular use. Maybe every other with light use.
Can you have the heater inside?
No
@@johnnysweekends ?
This heater is not meant to be inside per the instructions
It's the same as all the rest, but in a fancy box. My $60 8kw one works great, and has bluetooth! You can buy six of them for the same money as this overpriced one.
Brand or model number? Thanks
you should mention the psa regarding the plug choice. Super dangerous!!
did your exhaust pipe fit on the elbow? mine did not and hcalory has not been very responsive at all.
no fuel filter is fitted for longevity you should plumb one in, your choice if you want to replace the green squishy line or not seems 50/50
After these questions, I question if you even watched any of this video…..
Yup,that iec plug is a fire waiting to happen. I just bought this unit got it delivered two days ago I plugged it in and it looked like 4th of July in my garage, Sparks were flying everywhere. This model and the roll around toolbox model both need to be recalled
Wait so what happened with yours?
I have found no issues with this so far..
Not a lot of hours yet but I’ll be using it for a week in middle January and a couple other times later
Thanks for the tip. I ran it several hours on and off for a few days and no issues but will see how it does on the upcoming trip.
Thanks again for the tips. Maybe others will see this

Had two of these. Like all this crap, works great for a year, then the bearings wore out.
Fuel pickup needs to be off the bottom that way it don't suck up trash
Fuel filter and fuel water separator..👍🏼
That’s almost a hour of run time in there on medium and low

No heckin way I'm pouring diesel in anything in any living space.

Your fuel is not perfectly clean. You don't want fuel to come off the bottom of the tank as that is where sediment and water will sit.
Very true it’s not clean but just seems the pick up was higher than normal
LOL s heater in a Plastic case. 🤣😂🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Where have you been for 30 years. Tons of heaters in a plastic case. Metal or not they can all still burn up…🙄
$250? It better be better for that kinda money.
It looks like a fire disaster waiting to happen. Plastic everything and 300+ degree Temps. All that with a plastic fuel tank. Yikes No way this thing should be left unattended.

You're paying $100 extra for the box...
100$ extra? this whole thing costs 110$
@@adiq6360 they are $215 now.
It sounds liud
Over priced doesn't come with everything
@@johnnysweekends Sorry if my comment came out rude. I was just so bothered by that because I was leaving on a trip the next day and Amazon does not allow return on this item since I have opened and put diesel in it. I guess the only thing I can do is leave a one star review on Amazon and try to fix it myself. Thanks for the reply!
@dragondragonadventures no problem. And they are pretty easy to fix not that you should have to on a new unit.
I would be requesting a refund for a defective product.
Then fix it and now it’s free. 👍🏼
@@dragondragonadventures file an a-z claim. I did that for one of my diesel heaters that wouldn’t work. You just have to message the seller and try to find a resolution and then talk to an Amazon representative to finalize the claim.
the pump is same crap quality like other chinese ones. Makes same annoying ticking sound. If you pay this much extra you would hope they would give a near silent pump.
who needs a °F setting? time to get used to °C
Or stop BURNING STUFF and invest in Solar and Battery pack.
lol…you still need options, I have plenty of solar and batteries and once you have enough cloudy or rainy or snow days your gonna need items like these or yes a gas generator.
The app for this thing needs to be sideloaded. Never ever ever ever ever side load one of these Chinese apps onto your phone
THAT PUMP HAS GOT TO BE IMPROVED I'D RATHER USE AN ELECTRIC BLANKET
