Robert, Thank you. I have an Hcalory, self contained, diesel heater that I use on a travel trailer camper, with a 5 gallon external fuel tank. I think I went thru 2 gallons of diesel last night at the temperature was below 20 degrees. A few days ago, I bought the 2024 Wippro heater that I am going to install in a 2-car garage. Your videos convinced me to buy a Wippro. I have had a torpedo heater in the garage since 2006 and I decided to use a diesel heater due to fuel efficiency and safety (Due to less risk of fire.). When it gets above freezing the next week, I'm going to install it on a shelf on a cinder block wall and run a 1 inch exhaust pipe outside. I should be able to safely heat the garage for longer time durations. I was very afraid of the Chinese parking diesel heaters a year ago due to safety concerns and the "typical Chinese low quality); however, I have found them to be safer and more efficient and effective than U.S. made forced air propane heaters and torpedo heaters. Can you add a hose to the intake and have it pull air from the area that is being heated? That would help it heat an area much better, instead of sucking in 20° air if the unit is outside. Plus, that would keep it from sucking in the fumes from the exhaust.
You want the intake pulling in fresh air. The oxygen it consumes in the combustion process has to be replaced with oxygen from somewhere, and that oxygen is going to come from outside your enclosure one way or another. You might as well have it coming from an exterior intake tube; otherwise it will be pulling the oxygen from drafts into your enclosure.
@@stevem1081 Be that as it may, you're better off having the intake pull fresh air directly from outside. Otherwise it will be pulling air from inside, which itself will simply be replaced with air from the outside, exacerbating drafts/leaks.
The duct hose that you list..did you look at the inside to make sure that the foil is not perforated? I purchased this hose early this year.. the foil has hundreds of tiny perforations. very fine/small particles of fiberglass insulation blow thru the hose into the air.. I would not breath air that passes thru this duct. Maybe yours is different.. but the MFG told me they were all like this and are supposed to be used for exhaust..FYI

I know there is a key fob type remote but I am not a fan of those as I like to see what is going on visually. I’ve been waiting for this follow up review. Looks like an excellent heater. I know you’ve not had the opportunity to use it in COLD conditions but in general do you use some sort of diesel treatment to avoid gelling? This is going on my Christmas list! Thanks again!
Thank you, I do not use anything g to be honest. These units just keep on humming. I should probably take a little better care but just put on the shelf after the winter and bring back punt the next season!
@@sherburnoutdoors I just noticed you power it from an AC180... I have the same battery bank... Also, I just watched a review for a new LF Bros diesel heater that seems as quiet as this unit around the same price point. Must be cousins? ;-)
Found many videos on controller you can change some settings for cleaner burn and different temperature max. I turned mine down. Now on high it’s less heat.
Nowhere near 8 kw. #2 oil is theoretically 140,000 per gallon. 2.1 gallons is 294,000 divided over 17 hours is 17290 per hour. 8 KW is 27280 BTUs per hour multiplied by its efficiency. Non condensing, we will be generous and say 85%. 17290 x .85 is 14,700 BTUs an hour or 4.31 kw an hour. Half the rated output.
What's the difference with the "newer version" also on amazon? The $139 version of the 8K.? I don't see the 110v option but that's just basically an adapter converter.
Great! That’s old school…I like that I can install this all in one unit in my trailer, in my garage, under my camper or as an emergency heat source with a dryer hose and a battery/solar generator. Diesel fuel is stinky so keeping that outside of my living space is important to me
Where is the combustion air inlet? I want to set this heater inside my garage yet draw the combustion air from outside. Is it on the boittom after all? Thanks for the video.
Hello. On the Amazon page that you left a link to states on one of the thumbnails, that it has a brand new Appearance. Are these refirbushed ???---Michigan
Does it have any thermostat settings… as in, can you set it to stay around a certain temp & it will cycle on or off like a normal furnace or heat pump?
I was going to ask the same question. Amazing listing states “Thermostatic Control’ but does not expand on that: if it’s like a temperature based on off control or only a timer on ÷ off control. And is the thermostat on the unit where the unit would have to be inside your camper/tent or does it have a wired or wireless remote thermostat sensor ? By the way, I always enjoy the videos. Great channel.

Great channel.
@LIFTSMITH Well, the word “thermostatic “ is a big clue. By definition, that means it’s temperature controlled, not timer. But exactly where the thermostat is located would be a pretty relevant selling point. If it shuts down because the exhaust has reached its maximum, that would still legally fit the definition of thermostatically controlled, but wouldn’t really be much help in controlling the temperature of a room. Usually, the Ebersbacher and Webasto units that these are all copies of, tend to have thermostats built in and what they do is measure the air temperature at the input. They have an option to install an external thermostat, for situations where you’re drawing air from outside, rather than in the room. I don’t know whether the cheap Chinese ones incorporate that option, or not.
Are there any issues with fumes??? our old furnace quit working years ago and it’s down in our storm cellar/basement. All the ductwork is still there. I’m wondering if I bought something like this could I safely blow the heat. This unit produces through a couple of the old furnace’s ducts??? I could plug off the other ducts and then just run heat from this unit here through two or three ducks or one whatever it could handle.
Great Review and a decent product.... can you vent those via an domestic chimney indoors ... ( i'd put a bunch of Carbon Dioxide / Carbon Monoxide alarms near it )
I would think not since you'd need to create a draft for the chimney to work properly. And even if it did happen to initially work, if your real furnace ever kicked on and a negative pressure occurred in the room with the chimney, it would bring those fumes right back indoors.
You mentioned that it can be run on 120v does it come with that cord and if not what type of plug does it use the one in your link doesn’t show the adapter
Update: As of November 1st this fuel storage has been decreased to 1.5Gals, or your 8 liter mention was incorrect as per time stamp 0:50, right in the title it shows 5L. May be some other downgrades from this unit in video, it was not available at all 2 weeks ago!?
I am planning on using it full time as a low battery consumption on my off grid trailer setup. Just run it on high for 10 minutes before the shutdown to burn off the soot; like a diesel particulate filter does on a truck
Diesel has a fixed calorific value, these heaters burn diesel so to get 8kw you need a much larger burner than the standard chamber all these diesel heaters are fitted with and are actually typically 4kw max output. There are actual 5.5-6kw heaters out there that have a larger burner chamber and a larger pump, I know I own 2. These use more fuel to get the higher output. For efficiency if you are only using a “8kw” unit on low, the heater becomes less efficient and carbon build up becomes an issue. You are better off buying a 2kw unit and running it full power as the fuel use will be roughly the same per kw/hr and you’ll have less carbon build up.
I want to have mine setting outside, but want to be controlled by a thermostat inside. is this already controlled by the fob remote when inside my trailer.

@@stevem1081 Be that as it may, you're better off having the intake pull fresh air directly from outside. Otherwise it will be pulling air from inside, which itself will simply be replaced with air from the outside, exacerbating drafts/leaks.

@sherburnoutdoors i think its relaxing😂
Ticking would drive me quite mad , tbf .
How about you give us the BTU output for the various settings? Is it just Low and High? Are there intermediate settings also? Thanks
He provided an aftermarket dryer vent duct for around $20 I already received it but waiting for the heater
I have noticed that a few of these no longer have accompanying apps that for remote control. I know there is a key fob type remote but I am not a fan of those as I like to see what is going on visually. I am assuming this does not have an app as it is not mentioned in your video or on the amazon page.
Hi its Rob from the Uk. Great video , can you open it up see the working parts and carry out service ? kind regards
I want to us this inside my van, is there an intake hose or does it not need one?

Just vent the exhaust outside…crack a window because this will put out a lot of heat and purchase a CO2 alarm
@@donhyatt8034 I went ahead and got one of the smaller ones that’s not boxed, I’m going to install it. I’m gonna go that route.
Great! That’s old school…I like that I can install this all in one unit in my trailer, in my garage, under my camper or as an emergency heat source with a dryer hose and a battery/solar generator. Diesel fuel is stinky so keeping that outside of my living space is important to me
Is this unit weather proof so it can sit outside in the rain?
I do not think so, the electronic display is on top of the
Kind of a silly question…nothing is good to leave out in the rain that has moving parts. You can leave an ice chest out in the rain 😂
They just need to sort out the exaust conection know with a thread connection
I like that
Putting the exhaust next to the air inlet on original is insane
Now you can stand next to the exhaust as you work the display 😧
That inlet was for the combustion not for the fan intake
Where is the combustion air inlet? I want to set this heater inside my garage yet draw the combustion air from outside. Is it on the boittom after all? Thanks for the video.
Hello. On the Amazon page that you left a link to states on one of the thumbnails, that it has a brand new Appearance. Are these refirbushed ???---Michigan
I don’t need a blue Eddie if I use this in my home right?
You can plug it in the wall
Better than hcalory toolbox 2?

I did, that is how I knew how long it went for the tests
Does it have any thermostat settings… as in, can you set it to stay around a certain temp & it will cycle on or off like a normal furnace or heat pump?
Missing a lot of info for a review. This seems like a runtime test only.

I can't find this diesel heater model in Australia which is a shame.
Does this have a fuel filter between the fuel tank and pump??
Hello, does this unit have the ability to set a room temp with a thermostat, built-in or external?
Thanks

Can't find one for sale ,any ideas where to get one
The Amazon link took me right to it
Are there any issues with fumes??? our old furnace quit working years ago and it’s down in our storm cellar/basement. All the ductwork is still there. I’m wondering if I bought something like this could I safely blow the heat. This unit produces through a couple of the old furnace’s ducts??? I could plug off the other ducts and then just run heat from this unit here through two or three ducks or one whatever it could handle.
I have not noticed any, I do keep a monitor in my tent to make sure I do not die
Definitely you would want to drill a hole and connect it to a vent. They are $20 to be safe
It's already unavailable, that's too bad, I was ready to buy one. Any idea on when they'll be available again?
November 24th. Amazon is now taking pre-orders.
Mine is coming December 23 for Christmas 😊
You mentioned that it can be run on 120v does it come with that cord and if not what type of plug does it use the one in your link doesn’t show the adapter
It come with the 120ac cord
Does it come with the 12v adaptor?
Yes but not the cigarette lighter attachment
110 to 12v comes with it…he added a cigarette lighter adapter link on Amazon
Amazon doesn't sell them now. Can't find any online.
just as important, how much electricity did it use in the 50 hours?
This is fair question, I just bought a meter for this in future videos
Were u able to run it off 12V outlet of the power supply or did you have to use the converter? If so what model power bank is that?
I used the 12v but you can use both

Will those turn off and on with thermostat when heat builds up in the room your trying to heat.
Update: As of November 1st this fuel storage has been decreased to 1.5Gals, or your 8 liter mention was incorrect as per time stamp 0:50, right in the title it shows 5L. May be some other downgrades from this unit in video, it was not available at all 2 weeks ago!?
It said 8l on the box, on the side of the unit, on the fuel window and it held 8l when I filled it up so I am guessing it was an 8l
Awesome!!! Like you warned about the instructions being useless. Great review!!!
Interesting, but will it work for full-time use ?
Not sure, I have about 150 hours on it now. No wear but that is not full time
I am planning on using it full time as a low battery consumption on my off grid trailer setup. Just run it on high for 10 minutes before the shutdown to burn off the soot; like a diesel particulate filter does on a truck
Do you know what the max altitude this unit is rated for?
i’m guessing 8800ft or whatever the non altitude heaters run at be they don’t mention it anywhere o. their amazon ad
Thanks god bless
Thank you for watching
Do you have to adjust it for alltitude?
You can tune it for high altitude
I wonder if this thing can handle heating a garage
They say up to 300 square feet
Does it make start/stop when it reaches a programmed temp. ?
Where is the combustion air intake? The older version had a pipe for that so it could draw outside air if you have it set up inside
That's what I'm wondering otherwise your just sucking in cold air to the space your trying to heat...
Made so you stand right up against the "lightening hot exhaust" to use the control panel... 😐
Brilliant.

Nice Bait: Changes Everything.
I want to have mine setting outside, but want to be controlled by a thermostat inside. is this already controlled by the fob remote when inside my trailer.
Looks like you would use the fob to control the heat Manually. Set on low and turn it up if needed is my plan
