I never knew about these style heaters until I started watching your videos last year Dustin. I will need to get one as I plan on doing some winter camping this year. As always. Another great video.
I don't get why they have the heat output and the exhaust on the same side? I like to bump the heaters up to a wall and exhaust it out threw a hole in the wall. But with this setup you'd be pushing your heat directly at the wall?
Looks good, thanks for testing and opening. Does not look like it will need a fuel line upgrade but definitely some type of heat sheathing since it is so close to the exhaust. Is the top control box able to be relocated? Looks super easy to kill it by accidentally spilling fuel on it, not the best location.
🟥 Thanks again for your coupon code . My new heater should be here next week. I'm wondering how long the A C adapter cord is as I have to figure the distance to my door? Thanks in advance for your response. I do need the total length please
Great review. I'm working on my own review right now on this, and I was out looking for some inspiration about the previous version which I did not own so that I could at least have some knowledge of what the improvements are over their previous model. One correction tho is, it's not a 4" hose, its 90mm (which is closer to a 3.5") hose, which is not very common at all. I need to buy some adapters to hook this up the way I want it and they are not as easy to find as I would like.
@@enigmascape yes, it is 3 1/2” but a 4” duct with a clamp will work a 3” won’t . @@ATEMOFFROAD Cool, I look forward to it. I really like how you shortened the muffler pipe and air intake to make it far more manageable and portable, great ideas there! When using the thermostat mode, does it have to go through the full shut down/start up every time it comes on? That would drain a LOT of power (cleaning off the glow plug) from my battery.
Yes heater needs to go through a full shutdown and start up cycle with power not removed. This is why I say this mode of control is better for those who have RVs where these spaces are better insulated than a tent. In theory better insulated spaces can hold the heat in longer so auto stop/start is not a problem. Once or twice a night, can equate to the same as staying on continuously. This is another reason Hcalory has provided the 120v power adapter so there is no need for batteries, but it narrows the user for the need of on board generators or 120vac outlet. Not very off-grid . Now those of us who do use batteries and tent camp where we typically use level mode as standard. I have a zero sleeping bag and a 100ah battery turning off the heater at say 3am and back on at 7 is no big deal. As I’ll need the hot air to get the moisture out of my tent anyway. Just depends on the senecio and how you can adapt to make it useful. For some users the use of a battery is a limiting factor. 🍻
