I've been listening to rock and roll music for the past 45 years. Now I have discovered that some of the best music I've ever heard is considered country. Ray Wylie Hubbard is one example of the great storytellers and songwriters that I've grown to love.
David, with you all the way. As a Brit I consider this music as Americana. I’m sure that’s just my interpretation of the genre. Listening to WWOZ in NOLA, particularly Black Mold I have been able to hear so much incredible “Americana” that otherwise I’d be unlikely to hear in UK.
Same. Hard to find a lot of good new rock and metal. Most my time is spent listening to everything from Sturgill Simpson and Turnpike Troubadours to Charlie Parr and RWH.
1978 I was with a house band at a club on Lemmon Ave in Dallas, two blocks from a joint called Mother Blues. After our last set on Fri & Sat nights we’d drop in at Ma Blues and catch RWH there usually one or both nights. This cat was already a local legend back then! Probably seen Ray 50+ times through the years. He’s been a major influence on my musical journey, and for that I’ll always be grateful. Hell, I even live on a lake called Ray Hubbard! Lots of famous blues and rock musicians from the Dallas area, from Robert Johnson to SRV, but Ray is probably the coolest of ‘em all. The days I keep my gratitude higher than my expectations, I have really good days - RWH

I am a day person that don't mind giving this night person my money. Drove 4 hours last year to see Ray at 3rd & linsey. It was a hell of a show { Aaron was great also} When the show was over i told him That i drove that far & the main reason we came was to see him. It was the first time that I had got to see him in person & that I thought he was even better in person than on Records or Videos, when I told Ray this he said thanks as we were shaking hands & said. { What is your name } , that made my day & showed me what a class act he really is. Thanks Ray ..., You keep making music & i will keep giving my Money to "SOME" of the night people. Enough said..., Your fans Rory & Dana Small.... May 10 2017 .... I know this Video has been on here a while but I still play it in the shop while working at least once a week FYI.

Brilliant entertainer ! From another Okie
In 2010 Ray Wylie was playing at the Calgary Folk Festival and,i confess,I did something I never do,after his set I went and talked to him. He's the same on or off the stage--funny,intelligent and unassuming.
I fkn love this! I am 41, from Canada and own a well to do business. This came on when I was busy doing something, enjoyed it as I did my work, and when my work was done, I sat and listened to the rest of it, and wrote this
I’ve loved Ray Wiley Hubbard since the 70’s around Austin. I am glad he found his salvation and is still alive to listen. RIP Townes Van Zandt , who was not able to. I love you forever Townes. “One of Your Fine Ladies”
This is such a treasure to have on your site~! Thank you SO much~!
Boy, this is some fabulous sound quality for the recording and the camera work is exceptional. They combine to really set up the elevated enjoyment level for the music.

Great picking!!!👍👍 That guitar sound is totally amazing!!!
I, too just lucked onto Ray on youtube. It leaves me to wonder how many other great talents I have missed by not clicking on a pop-up. His guitar style is mesmerizing. I am totally enthralled.
I love the marriage song, absolutely beautiful.
I Got that $100.00 for ya.
Real...True...and as close to a perfect songwriter as a man can get...beyond just a poet! And a hell of an entertainer! Loved the man for years and will continue supporting him and his kind.
Hello how are you doing today..?
Verbal Gymnastics....of over 50 years ....a truth teller of the human condition. Still Kickin' it.
Blackberry Smoke turned me on to this Legend. Wow. Thanks Charlie.
Cool blues... great stories, captivating...
I met both Ray Wylie and Johnny Vandiver through my coffeehouse called the Sword and Stone located in OKC. Both Dallas boys were attending college north of OKC near Edmond. How lucky for us!
I attended his live concert in Sacramento about 20 years ago, and the crowd went wild when he sang "Up Against the Wall" .

I wish Tony Joe White was still w us! He was a great guitarist and songwriter. Great voice too. RIP Tony Joe White
The whole thing of funky southern Roots singers was restarted by Tony Joe White. Brilliant....
Most of his songs are one line long, separated by commas but never periods. Masterful songwriting. The humor is rich icing.
Ray is a Genuine Music maker and a Bonafide Songwriter. He is our Generation and I like him. He has many Tales of Wisdom if you just shut your damn Clap trap and just listen. "The Travis County Work release Blues Band participation Committee" Yeehaw from the Snake Farm
First time I like the music, he is a genius .
ray is awesome . love watching him play
