  • I've met a lot of people with mediocre language skills who do a fantastic job communicating in their target language. Let me tell you how.
This video is dedicated to Moses McCormick, who died suddenly of heart complications last week. He was a giant in the language learning community, and had spent time learning 60-70 different languages. Of course, he didn't know most of those languages very well, but he was fearless, and never shied away from practicing his languages with strangers in public. I had the great honor of interviewing him on my channel last month, and we discussed some of his methods for working up the courage to practice languages with strangers. Welcome! I am an aspiring polyglot with a degree in Linguistics. I speak English, Spanish, French, and Esperanto, and I'm currently working on Thai. I make videos twice a week to talk about my methods of learning languages and to try to help others make language learning faster, easier, and more fun.

There's a lot of ways to approach language learning but this boldness idea you talk about really applied to me with German. I got the chance to study in Germany for 8 weeks in the summer in college and went over there with a very basic knowledge and couldn't say a lot and had zero confidence etc. One day I change my attitude just like you described and shortly thereafter I would describe myself as conversational in German. Basic conversations but still very able to have a conversation.

This me to a T.... I'm learning greek, self taught... When to a shop in Greece asked for 3 ice creams and explained I'm still learning... It seemed the shopkeeper was known the wiser.. 👍

Je suis d'accord avec toi Aaron. J'ai adoré la fin sur Moïse. C'était très respectueux et élégant.

That feeling when you have generally good english but then you forget some really easy word and try to say it in your native language and can't remember that either and then you are stuck knowing there's a word for it but you just can't say it

@@LewisOsborne I know but he should have mentioned his name inside the video. And, say rest in peace or something.
