There are photography pages with far more subs, that deliver far less education and information. You deserve a bigger audience, and definitely some sort of paid partnership with the big dogs at Apple. Bought my 12 Pro Max because of this video.
I’ve never seen anyone on UA-cam show off what RAW in different apps would look like and be... different. I love this so much!!! Be neat to see what they look like shooting a photo in Lightroom mobile and Halide and compared to apples and moments apps.

Well, in reality, even a 12 year old DSLR camera with the right lens ( half price of the pro max) will outmatch any smart phone, since the sensor size is way bigger as well as the aperture size. As smartphones sensors and computation advances, regular size camera tech advances along with it parallel and there is really no substitute for aperture size. How about the new mirrorless cameras? Thank you so much for this video... after watching this I took Raw pictures of some very old childhood pictures on my 12 pro max, and then edited them on the phone.... the results were amazing. I could see the face of my late father very clearly in some pictures! thank you very much. And Happy New Year!
Dude. You just sold me on an iPhone 12 Pro Max upgrade. I’m happily running an 8 and had no intention to upgrade, until I watched this vid. Apple owes you. Great vid. Enjoying your channel.
I would like to see this computational photography stuff find it's way into mirrorless cameras, with the ability to dial in the percentage of computations. We could basically cook the files to taste and get this advantage of low light shooting. Thanks for sharing! Great job!
Looks pretty awesome! Smart HDR is usually pretty good, but I've had several instances where the photos would look unnatural or even bad, especially with skies. Seems like this sorta fixes that issue, allowing you to have greater control after the fact.

That shot from the ally that was underexposed is nuts. That actually blew me away haha like if you're into iPhone photography, the new phones are a must have
Best iPhone camera review by far. Apple RAW just eliminates all baby camera comparisons out there on UA-cam that compares dynamic range, sharpness, low light, etc with a sly sharp grin
Watching this video now after owning my 12 pro Max for a few months. This video certainly reinforced my opinion that I made a good choice getting the pro
Thanks so much for this video! I just upgraded to a 13 pro, and it's so hard to find concise info about what proRAW does. It's surprising this isn't marketed better.
You explained and demonstrated Apple Pro Raw so perfectly! I’ve subscribed because I love you’re style and way of explaining stuff! I’m dead excited to start shooting with this new feature when the official update comes! Thanks man!
By now (June 2023) they've released the iphone 14 line, almost the 15 I think. I just got a 14 pro (coming from an 11 pro) and the ability to use pro raw. LOVING it so far. I got a very similar b&w photo of Christ Cathedral (formerly Crystal Cathedral) in Garden Grove, Ca a couple days ago that just looked better in monotone. Thanks for the very informative video🙂
This is such a awesome video!!! Thank you so much for sharing this. I just got my iPhone 12 Por Max and I’m so excited to try all of these things out. Like there’s so many benefits when using Apple ProRAW and thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us!
This is why I bought the 12 Max. I will wait for the final updates to shoot the Pro Raw but this looks amazing. This is my travel street shooting camera.
I’m super excited about Apple ProRaw. I sold one of my mirrorless cameras and traded in my 11 Pro Max because I wanted to edit raw files from my phone. I can hardly wait for 14.3. This is the first comprehensive review I’ve seen of Apple ProRaw, so thank you. Friendly suggestion: think of some alternatives to “cool”. You really depend on that word...
Great video, I've just got the iPhone 14 pro and definitely notice the difference when I'm not taking raw images. The worst thing ever is taking a nice photo then later realising you hadnt taken it in raw! The processing isn't the nicest. (Apologies for pressing thumbs down, I didn't mean that - it's a great video)
I don't know much about photography, but I've been trying to do my best in my hobby of coral keeping. So far I've been using an iPhone X for all my photos and editing with photoshop express on the phone. Sometimes I feel like I can pull off decent shots, but I know I have a lot to figure out. I just ordered the iPhone 12 Pro Max and I'm hoping I can learn to use it to it's full potential. It may not be the best for what I want to use it for, but it's also just a cell phone for me as well. Thanks for the video!
Pretty impressive for a phone. Almost upgraded from the 11 but decided to wait for the 13 next year haha. What do you think about the video side so far ? Love your channel by the way man.

Ive always said it.. The iPhone 12 Pro Series ist not about any hardware stuff, its the access to Apples own ProRaw which makes this iPhone the BEST and worth every penny over any other iPhone 12 or previous generation. Crazy, I love it!!
Just the video I was looking for. Can't thank you enough for providing the DNG examples! This really helped me to figure out what to expect from an iPhone camera and ProRaw. I've been watching your other videos too. Top work!
Thanks for the explanation. I just bought the iPhone 12 Pro Max (for the camera & screen size) coming from the 6s+ so much of the features are completely new to me. Great video👍🏻
Ive been watching alot of reviews on the Iphone 12 pro/max. and alot of people bashing them. But with this new pro raw I think it will be a game changer. Thanks for the review...
Best review of the upcoming ProRaw I've seen. Thank you... I have not downloaded the beta, but after watching you demo, I may have too.... Bringing up those shadows with so little noise, damm!
That's exactly what he showed. What is 'standard'? If you know your current cameras/raw software, it will be exactly the same for editing. That said, iphone files will always be lower quality and a lot smaller than what you can get on a larger sensor camera. All this computation is doing is killing noise much more effectively making it seem like there is then more dynamic range...compared to regular hyper noisy phone raw.
The noise in the raw image is because of the higher exposure. The apple raw file had more contrast and darker shadows which hid the noise, and you could get a similar result with the raw image of you applied some noise reduction yourself
The lowlight performance is awesome! So clean. On a DSLR or Mirrorless you would need a tripod for that! Can't wait till I get the update on my iPhone 12 Pro.
i wish they would bring the ProRAW Feature to the normal 12 and 12 mini as well.. Basically it is still just a software-thing that easily could be added
I’ve used it on my Pro Max I do agree about the noise but I do think it’s the first beta . But I think it’s great you can really get a lot of details from your photos.
