How To Make Apple's ProRAW Feature EXTRA Worth It!

- ProRAW is finally here and it's one of the things that sets the "pro" iPhones apart this year. If you don't know what it is or how to use it, this video is for you (especially for iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max users or those considering buying a pro iPhone). I'll break it all down and then give you some practical tips to help you shoot and edit better, more creative (and possibly more fun) photos.
The apps I like using most for my RAW workflow are probably Halide (for shooting) and Darkroom (for editing). The Moment photo app is also great for shooting RAW and of course there's always Adobe Lightroom on the editing side as well.

I was wondering if you take a ProRaw photo. Is the displayed normal photo in the camera going to look any worse ? Or any better? Next question. Let’s say I have unlimited storage, would I have any reason not to always shoot everything in RAW except compatibility off course.
Great video but would have been best Chris to say up front ‘only if you have an iPhone 12’ so for those of us with an 11 don’t have to wait until minute 5 to find out RAW is useless to us.

Yes but poor ergonomics and small sensor... I prefer one my Fuji always on the go: There are many compact cameras for stepping up from smartphones.
New iPhone every 2 or 3 years: Love my iPhone 11 Pro. Apple could propose a grip for « pro » usage for photography/video.
ProCamera has had RAW for a while, along with RAW+JPEG, and will support Apple ProRaw soon. An excellent app worth checking out!

they don’t so other companies can develop software and make money as well.
it’s like GMC not selling all the products for pickup trucks so after market companies stay in business.
There may be a law about monopolizing the industry so they don’t crush small businesses but i’m not sure about that part.
Apple us doing the same with software and accessories, for example they may provide some accessories, but not go all-out to design the best so other companies can sell all their cases and screen protectors.

I would advise everyone who's gonna be trying RAW photography for first time, to just use the apple's photos app to make the edits. It's a crazy good editor, without some of the more advanced features like levels. Still, understanding what happens when you change highlights vs shadows, black point etc. is a great first step!
I love Darkroom app, but don't go spending money before you have to.
Can you use the iPhone editing in phone to edit raw if you have iPhone pro without using a app to edit.

I recommend using SnapSeed to edit.
Adobe Lightroom is better
@@adex_smith I do agree now. The Snapseed was working better on the raw photos from my last camera on my phone. Lightroom however is working better with the iPhone ProRAW . However I still go Back to Snapseed for a couple editings that LightRoom doesn’t do.

Pro Ra is one of the reasons I'm getting the 12 Pro. Editing in Ra is something I've always wanted to do. I'm so glad Apple included Pro Ra in iOS 14. I'm gonna take pictures of my medium well steaks (I don't like my steaks Ra) in the Pro Ra format.

I am shooting in ProRaw when it is difficult lighting conditions. Then after editing I save image as JPG and delete Raw file, so no storage problems
