      I have this washer now. It is a replacement to the one I sold earlier this year.
      I used the other machine for over a year and gave it a review. Was working fine when I sold it.
      I wanted to get another one before they stopped making these at some point. The washers they sell now with the stainless tubs and plastic bottoms I do not like.
      Anyway this is a good washer and how long it lasts only the Lord knows. Let's be thankful we're not pounding our clothes on a rock. LoL.

    You're 100% correct regarding your thoughts on newer washers lacking agitators!
    If I had no choice but to buy a brand new washing machine from a big box store, I'd get this one, or one like it.
    But do yourselves a favor, buy an older refurbished or used Kenmore/Whirlpool/Maytag direct drive top load washing machine with analog controls and no lid lock. Extremely reliable, effective, and very easy and cheap to repair.
    For new, look at the Speed Queen TC5.

      Too bad the TC5 isn't available. I ended up buying the TC7, and they can't deliver it for almost a month. The washer my house came with went up in smoke yesterday so I felt compelled to buy sooner rather than later. After finding this option I am sort of regretting my decision. The TC7 has the "fancy" buttons. I agree that analog knob controls are better. I wish the TC5 was in stock.

    That starting and stopping of the washer at beginning is the basket turning, so the water can evenly mix in all powder and liquid detergents poured in on top of load,, before the actual agitation/washing starts up. I get that pod is working for you. But if you can get that mix in liquid, highly suggest you do, its cheaper, and cleans better than any pods, which take up to 5 minutes of agitation time to fully disperse.

    • @matteusmaximus
      @matteusmaximus Рік тому

      actually the intermittent pulses at the beginning is the 'auto sensing' feature detecting the weight of the clothes in the basket to add the proper amount of water. would not recommend pouring any kind of detergent directly on your dry clothes, powder or liquid, for a number of reasons. can google that for more info. it's a bit silly that this machine doesn't have a detergent dispenser considering how it functions... Ostensibly, the proper order would be to add your clothes, start the cycle, let it detect the load size, wait for it to add the correct amount of water, take the wet clothes out, add the detergent and give it a minute to agitate and mix in, then put the wet clothes back in the machine. which is obviously absurd. the best way i've found is to just start a deep water wash while the basket is empty, add the detergent while its filling with water, then add the clothes once the wash cycle starts. for every load of laundry. if you use the auto sensing feature, it doesn't matter when you add the detergent or what kind you're using. It's not being mixed in properly.

    If I purchase this washer, only thing I would do is always use the “deep fill option”, then use either Persil or the Tide Pods with Febreze on my regular loads, or else use the auto fill sense option” on my smaller delicate loads, and then use the “rinse & spin” cycle afterwards, and add fabric softener softener that way afterwards. Otherwise, I would just wait and just use fabric softener in the dryer for now on.
    The Dual-Action Agitator and Bleach Dispenser are great options to have.
    And the washer is easy to maintain and keep clean too.
    I would use deep fill with hot water and then add one cup of distilled vinegar (and remember to open a window or door and aim a fan to run outwards after that to remove the smell) and run a full cycle without clothes about once or twice monthly to clean and maintain the washer..
    This would be the washer I would buy, if I cannot afford to spend $1,000.00 on a Speed Queen.
    Great affordable option on a clothes washer (and I can get it from Best Buy).
    EXCELLENT affordable washer all the way around.
    👍🏾👍🏾

    Just bought this from Best Buy for $449 and they delivered it today. It’s replacing my 31 year old Whirlpool washing machine. I feel like I’ve gone from a Kia to a Cadillac! They had to deliver it twice because the first time I guess my hoses were leaking and they couldn’t do it. After I fixed the issues they came back and installed it. I’ve washed three loads and so far so good! One thing I noticed that I am not used to is the tub moving around when you’re loading and unloading clothes. I found out it’s a new suspension system and is totally normal. It also says only to use high efficiency (HE) laundry detergent. If you don’t you will eff up your machine!

    Good video, thanks! This Amana washer model was just installed in my townhouse unit . Was reading through the instructions and it says that if you select Deep Water Wash, it won't work with "Normal/Regular" wash cycle selected, and will revert to auto sensing. I guess you have to select "Heavy" load cycle? My old washer was a built-like-a-tank Maytag top loader, over 20 years old. Very simple and basic. I don't really want to use the auto-sensing thing, want to keep it simple. The instructions don't really explain the difference between the different cycle options: Bulky Items & Sheets, Heavy, Regular, Casual, Delicates. Would be interested in knowing what these different cycles actually do.

      I have this model that came with my house. Been using it for 7 months. Been great so far.
      If you are using regular cycle I would say use the normal cycle with auto-sense+extra rinse so you get an agitated rinse,...otherwise if you choose just auto-sense it will just do a spray rinse that misses the clothes. This is for the normal cycle only.
      Also use normal for loads that are maybe half full or less. Heavy and Casual work better for auto sensing. I don't miss the manual water level switch at all now.

    Today I just had a defective NTW4516FW4 warranty/service contract replaced. We only had the washer for 1.5 years. The washer was used at least twice daily. We were careful not to overload. For the price the washer did an excellent job cleaning the clothes. You do have to review the manual and watch videos to learn how to use it. For power protection, washer was plugged into a GFI with a surge supressor to protect the electronic components. Amana is made by Whirlpool and I find it quite disappointing that the quality control has gotten worse. Bottom line here is that for any major appliance purchase, you need to budget to include a service contract for any major failures. Overall, appears that we got a bad one in a lot, and judging from other posts, we just got unlucky.

    My model NTW4516FW3 works incorrectly frequently since installation. Auto sensing cycle usually will not cover the load and leaves some items dry. Setting to deepwater and heavy will sometimes will resolve this. Latest symptom is that it fills, then drains, but never agitates. After draining at around 12 minutes, the wash light come on and stays on indefinitely. Ready to put this washer at the curb, but with a warning to curb bandits that its good for scrap only.

    I believe Doug you need to go look at a schematic of this machine. Ask yourself, “Where is the transmission?”. Ask why is there an inverter in these machines? Ask yourself what kind of bearings support the spin basket? You’ll find rather disappointing answers I’m afraid. These things are designed to wear themselves out in about 5 years. Compare that to an old Whirlpool that lasted 25 years. Where’s the sense?

    I have had this Machine for 9 months Giving it my best review? Total JUNK. This wash machine has an agitator that sits about 3/8 of an inch above the base of the wash machine. The problem with that? Clothes get caught under the agitator and it tears clothes. I had an almost new sport shirt torn, We have had two tee towels torn, one dish cloth, and my wife had a blouse torn, It does not run hot water in the tub in the "Normal" position, you have to turn it to "Heavy" or "Casual" to start hot, then turn it to "Normal" to get whites clean.
    Spend more money and get a better ,high quality machine, I have since observed other new machines and the agitator sits flush with the base of the tub. We've had one new circuit board, one new selector switch installed ,all within 3 months of owning it. Whirlpool builds this one, surely they can do better than this!

    @jefreagan 2 місяці тому

    It won’t pre-soak.
    If you want to open it for any reason, you have to push that button for 3 seconds, and it cancels and drains the whole load.
    If it thunks around because of an uneven load, same as before: hold the button to unlock, the whole load is canceled, and it won’t start from where you left off. It starts a new cycle.
    Our auto sensing has never worked: always full to the top every load.
    Piece of crap. I have never heard such cursing from my sweet little wife. If it wasn’t an apartment, I would have used a grenade on it.
    Before I watched your video, my brilliant wife found a way for the lid to be lifted while she could get the right water level for a pre soak. I tightened the drum tightening screw all the way down because every load was uneven and clunked halfway out of the laundry room.
    Did I say piece of crap? It is.

    500 is not cheap for a washer, considering two years ago this would have been 299. This washer is garbage and is in no way worth the money or time you waste on it.
