I’ve been searching for a while finding something this detailed and straight to the point. You explained everything so perfectly. Thank you! No loud obnoxious music in the back, no 1 hr of story telling before you even get started! Thank you thank you!
This finish has been such a game changer for my family! I’ve been able to sell furniture for so much more to support my family. Thank you so so much Shannon you have truly changed peoples lives
I have been searching and searching for exactly the styles you’re teaching on your channel. You are a wealth of info and your tutorials are super helpful. I can’t thank you enough for getting me pumped to spruce up the furniture in our home. I feel so blessed to have found your channel! ❤️
My favorite thing about this video is you! You have such a warm and sweet way about you and it brings you into enjoying what your sharing. I learned so much!! I have never even thought of Pottery Barn finishes, but you are totally onto something special! I have seen faux wood finishes before but never packaged in the way you delivered it. You are right, this finish has the aire of so many styles and just merely changing the hardware could set a different tune. Brilliant! I started this finish 2 days ago and will finish up tomorrow! Excited to see how it turns out.. I can understand the use of your dog brush now lol
I just found this video and I am sooooo happy! I have been looking for a video that shows how to do this technique and this is it. I know this video was put out about 1 year ago but, I found you and thank you very much. As soon as I finished watching your video,I went to Home Depot and got everything. I have 2 mid century modern dressers, one high and one long and low and I can’t wait to get started, thank you so much for taking the time to make this video and to share your talent. Take care, stay safe.
EXACTLY what I have been looking for! THANK YOU!!! By the way…I have the “dog brush” - the packaging states it’s for pet hair removal on furniture, not your actual pet. It works for quick deShedding of dining room chairs after the cat takes a nap on it!
I truly appreciate you for being so open, being so giving and sharing your knowledge with other people. You are a beautiful human being. I hope you are successful and achieve your dreams!
Wow! I just used your lesson to refinish a set of end tables. What was amazing to me was that beginning with using the deck brush on the glaze, the finish looked so good I couldn't imagine why I would need the whisk broom. And the brooming made it prettier, so I couldn't imagine how the pet brush would help. Again, it was better. So really, would I need the yellow highlights? Oh, yeah! Amazing! Subtle changes with each step. Tomorrow they get their topcoats. Can't wait! THANK YOU!!!!
4:10 I'm one who wants both a fast and a slow video. The first go is just to introduce me to a technique and gives me a chance to decide if I want to try it. But I'd *LOVE* it if you had a second channel with super long, detailed instructables. Keep BSH interesting for questioning and casual viewers, but then direct us to a second channel where you can really dig in and teach us in real time. Let that second channel be where we get a master class. Love what you do and thank you. You're saving many of us a ton of time, mess, and money by working out the trial and error stuff for us.
I did this on my 45 year old particle board dressers, following your instructions. They turned out beautiful, they look new and modern! Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Agree! Only when I tried refinishing a piece myself did I appreciate how these pros keep everything so clean. My work area is a mess with paint spills, trash, tools lying everywhere.
You are amazing my Dear! Trying techniques is the best way to get a different look! I have been doing it for 40 years. But! I can still learn from you. Thanks!
Savage Dog, I love your name! I definitely try new techniques and fail more often then I succeed 😂 but when when it works, watch out! I’m glad you’re here ❤️
Thank you for sharing your beautiful gift with this community. I truly admire a person with such a desire to change lives by sharing so much of their knowledge and experience free of charge . I wish you the best, God bless you.
Thank you so much for this detailed video! I have been refinishing furniture as a hobby for several years, and just used this technique for my favorite piece yet. I love that you don't have to sand to get the wood like finish, and the water-based glaze makes clean-up so easy. The combination of the three tools makes such a unique look!
I love the tip about the hardware. I watched the masterclass that brought me here today. I have a dresser with similar handles except one of the larger parts is missing.
I can't tell you how much I love your videos, and faux finish wood technique! My daughter and I are trying this on a couple of coffee table sets now. She's home from college before possibly starting towards her major and needing extra income. What a blessing we came across your channel 🙌
Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.
Thank you so much for sharing. You are very talented! I going to try this for my dresser and nightstands. Never done this but I will try. I hope you share more videos
Cannot wait to try this! Have a large unfinished pine dresser that I scored for free. This will be the finish I use on it. I have everything but the glaze and paint. Thank you so much for sharing!
What a miracle that your video popped up on my feed. This is the exact look I wanted but I was going to use a wire brush to actually make grooves in the wood. This is so much easier and way less work. Thank you for posting!!!!
Hi dear I just want to say thank you for shearing your techniques I started flipping furniture and with this technique they sold with in days thank you again .
Perfect!! Exactly what I’m looking for to refinish the top of my mom’s 80’s kitchen table. So many wood grain tutorials make it look like the inside of a tree trunk. That’s way too much for me but this is fabulous!! I can’t wait to try it!! Thank you!!
I know this is an older video, but i love your work! Keep it up please!! I’m currently updating my home. These videos have helped so much! Also I’ve been flipping furniture thanks to you!
😲😲😲!!!! AWESOME 👍 You have created a bomb effect!! This is the perfect for the imperfect pieces when nothing else looks right and when your tired of the same ole same ole 😍👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks for sharing this I very much appreciate it.I’ve painted my bed and I wanted to change the look to wood look and this exactly what I wanted to do xxx
I've done this technique with DIY glaze. My recipe is 1 pt bog-standard acrylic paint (nothing fancy, the "all in one paints" don't actually work for this) combined with 2 parts water-based clear topcoat such as Minwax Polycrylic or Varathane. Works great!
I just painted a couple of outdated laminate nightstands following your excellent teaching on the pottery barn faux wood look...and thy turned out so good! Thankyou for all you do Shannon ~I appreciate you so much!
I have been trying to replicate this exact look and I was on the wrong path. Thank you sooooo much for explaining everything so thoroughly. Great piece!!
LOVE BEHR!!! purchased from Home Depot when the paint was first introduced. Just turning the corner with the dining room project. White with White Pearl Metallic by Rustolium. 76 Young years and unearthed my passion to art and design after many years of care for my brain injured husband. Next project pink and mauve hair color Lolololol Would like to send you pictures of before and after dining furniture. Don't know where to send.
I have a beautiful piece on furniture but it was dark wood and I don’t like dark wood but because it cost a fortune I was hesitant to try and remake it myself but now I think you have given me the confidence to go for it.Thank you!!!!
You're AWESOME!! I am soooo thankful I found you and this channel! This is exactly what im looking for to change my boring ikea furniture! Thank you so much for teaching and sharing!!! I can't wait to get started on my next project!!
I used this technique on a pair of MDF cheap nightstands....did this on the top and painted the base in Midnight Blue. It worked amazing!! Will use this many times again I am sure. I used an old wallpaper brush since that’s what I had on hand.
I just found this video and subscribed. Everything you say just makes sense. You don’t over complicate things and as a beginner I cannot express how much that helps. Thank you so much for what you do!!!
I just found this channel and I’m reading the comments. Does Shannon answer your questions?? I haven’t come across answers from her to your questions. I really like her style of painting and her teaching style as well.
I'm so thankful for this video, I recently messed up a veneer top and I've been thinking what to do as I really wanted the wood top look now you've just solved my problem. Thank you so much. The piece looks awesome
What a fabulous easy technique. The possibilities are endless as far as color combinations go. Thank you. This is a great idea And I can't wait to try it
That was also a really great tip about snipping and pulling out the drop pull holder. I've saved a bunch of batwing style pulls hoping to do something like that and get rid of the backplate. You rock!
I have an old cottage style kitchen table with the leaves that fold up. I sanded off what felt like a million layers of paint and then could never decide how to finish it or the chairs. I'm so inspired by your video! I know where I'm headed with it now. Your piece looks fabulous! Thanks so much for sharing your technique!
I used to do these projects and still would love to. We need a “lift” that raises the furniture to the various levels desired (like a car lift) but for furniture. Back, knees, neck saver.
Your artistry is fascinating and I really enjoy watching and learning from you! This is project is stunning and exactly what I plan to recreate for some nightstands I just bought second hand. Thank you for posting your secrets and for being clear about the exact colors!
I love how you streamline the hardware! I have always liked the handles, but not the piece you cut off. Now I know I can do that. Really helpful. Thank you for all you do!
Ok I do like this style but the one thing I would say to all the beginners like me, let it dry overnight before you glaze. I didn't realize the glaze would soften the paint so when I use the wish broom it took the paint off down to the primer. Live and learn, I just redid the base coat and glaze and let it sit overnight between each coat and it came out pretty good. Just glade I had enough to get it done.
I really L❤VE this!! I have also been searching for that look for my big black pottery barn table. I want to refinish it, but didn't want driftwood exactly. You saved the day!! Thank you so much!! 💓
Love that you are sharing this. I’ve recently had the hardest time refinishing an outdoor collection we bought just two years ago from pottery barn. The finish completely fell apart on me on a few pieces. We came to a deal that I would keep and refinish because some pieces have weathered fine and I didn’t want to return every piece. They are mahogany wood and it’s very difficult to color match with stain. Seeing your video inspired me to take a different approach with paint. Thank you and your work is amazing!
I actually have an outdoor set I’ll be working on for the channel this summer and I’ll be doing almost this exact color combo, so stay tuned! Thanks for the kind words, glad you’re here!
You should look into using a waterborn urathane paint that has a much better pencil hardness rating than latex. Both Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams have this paint that is well suited for use on cabinets.
You’re so awesome!!! When I paint I always have to take out all the drawers because it makes me nervous to think that when I pass the brush over one edge onto the next the gap is gonna get full of paint. And same with the poly.
I always have to go back and clean up around the drawers, so I pull the drawers out a bit right after I get done and paint around the edges for a clean look and the let them dry. Sometimes it does make more work for me I think but it does get the job done haha!!
I also never use a brush for the mat or satin finish Urethane. I always use a poly roller those little 5 inch rollers give a flawless commercial looking finish totally perfect.
I love faux finishes!! You do an incredible job! This finish is magical IMHO. I'm on my Android phone and just noticed this option when I did an app update recently. I also speed up some creators when they are covering something Ive seen them do previously. It has helped me spend my viewing/learning time more efficiently.
Looks great! Giving it a go on my beat up family room desk. I notice you paint and glaze with drawers in place. Any hints for keeping drawers from sticking?
I’ve been searching for a while finding something this detailed and straight to the point. You explained everything so perfectly. Thank you! No loud obnoxious music in the back, no 1 hr of story telling before you even get started! Thank you thank you!
Finally something I can afford to do. So many youtubers are promoting products that are just out of my price range
I know! It gets crazy sometimes when the paint ends up eating up all your profit! Glad you're here!!
I appreciate your voice over too. Your voice is so nice and calming. Wonderful work!!!
Thanks! Really like your style, no loud music, dancing, long story times.
Yeah, I liked that the best! No annoying chatter with other followers, no repetitive music/sounds, no useless information, etc.
Yes! Exactly! Me toooo!
I concur! People use too many words to say very little. Lol
Yessssssss!!
Yes, I'm digging her style!
This finish has been such a game changer for my family! I’ve been able to sell furniture for so much more to support my family. Thank you so so much Shannon you have truly changed peoples lives
Hi! I was wondering if you remove drawers or complete this process with them in? Concerned about the interior sides… please let me know!
@@daniellearrizurieta8235 I actually never take the drawers out. I always leave them in and do the finish with them in

I have watched hundreds of faux wood finish videos. This is the best I have seen.
Woot woot!!! 🥰

Wonderful finish and like you said, Does not have to be exact!

You will do great ❤️
You are brilliant!! And your work is gorgeous! You are such an inspiration. Thank you for sharing.
I love doing what you do, you are amazing,
Love that you are sharing this.

Love the way u do your refinishing. It’s very educational
Thank you ❤️
I also never use a brush for the mat or satin finish Urethane. I always use a poly roller those little 5 inch rollers give a flawless commercial looking finish totally perfect.
Amazing! I can’t wait to try this myself. I loveeeeee this look in my house.
It’s my current favorite!
I just found your channel last week and your videos are the best!!!

SO impressed.. The piece, the tips, and you’re fun to listen to! Lol thank you so much for this!
Hello, I like your technique! Can you also do it with white paint and a black gel stain? I want to have a grey finish. Thanks
I never have done those exact colors but I have done a few different combinations and it always turns out neat!
Looks great! Giving it a go on my beat up family room desk. I notice you paint and glaze with drawers in place. Any hints for keeping drawers from sticking?
I have a dresser exactly like that one and been wanting to redo it again. I love how it turned out!
