I’m a cancer survivor, I had throat cancer and cancer in my neck. The radiation was hard and so was the chemo! I’m 6 months cancer free! I’m happy to be alive, however the side affects are hell, I suffer from short term memory loss, numbness in my legs and fatigue, I sometimes sleep for 10 hours and 4 hours later I need a nap. I don’t see the side affects leaving any time soon. I know people that have had the same treatment and don’t suffer with the same side affects, I think it all depends on your body chemistry. At least I’m here for my daughter!

I was really fearful when my process started 4 months ago. I felt overwhelmed by all of the information I was being given. But I knew all of those doctors and nurses were there to get me the help I needed to get better! 😊 So I listened to them explain how the treatment plan would be managed, and after my first few treatments I wasnt afraid anymore. I actually looked forward to being with the nurses in the chemo room and visiting with them, and my Oncologist is the most amazing cancer doctor on the planet! 😇👍 I have had a few annoying side affects during this experience, but nothing I cant manage as long as Iam careful to do what Iam told. And since we are in the middle of this scary covid virus situation, I actually look forward to my chemotherapy appointments because it is the only time I can leave my house since I dont have an immune system anymore lol 😂🥰

I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. I am 66, and depending on which cardiologist I talk to on any given day, I have had either two or four heart attacks. Both radiation and chemo have serious effects on the heart. To make matters worse, I live in Vegas, which is the healthcare armpit of the country. As noted, I can't even get cardiologists FROM THE SAME PRACTICE to agree on how many heart attacks I've had. That's how good "healthcare" is here.

I watched the vid. I read the comments. As a new chemo patient, I benefitted from all of it. Perhaps, what might be more deliberately emphasized is that this is a good but basic intro to the topic provided in a limited budget of allowed on-camera time. The MD can’t and shouldn’t cover everything even if she could. However, she stressed repeatedly that every person’s experience may vary from what she is saying. I fully empathize with the deep suffering described in some of the comments, and I learned from them. But I needed an intro first because I’m both uninformed and scared, and I don’t know what I don’t know. The vid got me started. I didn’t want a doctor to scream, “You’re gonna die a horrible death from side effects!” I already know I might. I hope none of us does. Instead, I now have a better idea of what questions to ask and what info to seek as I (hopefully) move to higher levels of understanding. Get well, all.

To SC, how did your lovely and brave wife suffer extreme pain? I may be wrong, but I do feel that giving chemo to childhood cancer victims, is child abuse. Survivors can face many problems. Please reply.

@@gordanazakula4927 I'm not going to say that chemo is child abuse. I guess chemo has its place in cancer treatment. As I have observed, it is a horrible thing to have to go through. In my opinion, one of the most important factors in cancer treatment is the doctor. If the doctor gives you a doom and gloom output from the very start and even with promising outcomes during treatment, the doctor's prognosis is "you ain't gonna make it", get off your duff and get to another doctor and/or hospital. If that same doctor scoffs at treatments such as proton beam therapy or other proven methods which may or may not increase your chances of a good outcome (does not want you to try them-ever) you may be at the wrong facility. Always be proactive in the treatment and never let your guard down. A doctor with a good bedside manner is very nice, but completely useless when it comes to cancer treatment. So far, I haven't had to go through any of these things myself. Who knows what tomorrow holds?

I’m in the middle of chemo now. I’ve had every side effect from wbc dropping to 1.6 running fevers, extreme stomach cramps, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, daily headaches, fatigue, no taste, hair loss….and my doctor won’t lower my dosage because I’m triple negative breast cancer. Early stage though. Like I just hope I can get through these next treatments! I can’t function that first week!

I had 6 chemo treatments. I did feel exhausted for one week and nauseous. I was down for one week out of three weeks. I cried a lot and didn’t want to do it. I got it done. If I had to do it again, I would have taken the anti nausea medications more often. Just to get through that week.

SweetHeart ! Hi! 😊 I read your comment and Iam sorry youre having a rotten experience with your chemotherapy! Did your doctor get you some nausea pills? I can understand how you wish you could quit! Its miserable trying to tolerate those nasty treatments. I just finished mine last monday. The red devil bothered me alot, but the taxol treatments did not, until the final treatment I experienced some numbness in my fingers. I hope you find some relief soon. What age are you, and what type of cancer is yours? Mine is BRCA. My next step in two weeks will be the masectomy. Thankgod it was slow growing and hasnt spread. Good luck on your cancer journey too! 😊❤️ 🙏

Marcia Capell I have cervix cancer I’m going through chemo and radiation. This past Tuesday my dr put sleeve inside my vagina and I see twice a week for to give me radiation treatment through there. It’s very painful. I have two more to do. Other then that I do regular radiation treatment everyday it gives me Diarrhea and bladder infection and a lot of dryness down there it’s horrible. And the chemo I just finished this Friday. I can’t wait for the chemo to get out of my system. I can feel him stretching my Vagina to put the instrument in place. I was crying had to take a five minute break and then continue. 😩😩😩 but thank you for replying it means. A lot to me.
