My 7 yo Shiloh Shepherd is text book Osteosarcoma patient. I was heartbroken when I had to face to the fact I needed to have her leg amputated. I was surprised how well she has done and we have started Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy. So far, she is doing very well. I have found Dr. Sue very informative so glad i stumbled on this site.

After a recent endoscopy, our cat was diagnosed with both large cell gastric lymphoma and small cell intestinal lymphoma. We are devastated and shocked as she had two ultrasounds (done by both our vet and the emergency clinic) that came back normal. We have opted to treat her and she is currently on the CHOP protocol (3 weeks in) with minimal side effects. I know we have a hard battle ahead of us but I wanted to thank you for making these informative videos. I have watched every single one of them and they have truly helped us navigate this scary and heartbreaking diagnosis. ❤️

Thank you again Dr Sue for all you do to educate the public about chemotherapy and cancer in general with our pets. My dog has Lymphoma and has done very well on chemotherapy and only has three treatments left to go (yay!) and much as you said, Post chemotherapy she has been bouncing around and her healthy usual self. That said there is one of the chemotherapy drugs I believe it is called doxorubicin-please forgive what I’m sure is a misspelling - - Muffy had the most difficult time with this part of her therapy. She began to not eat anything and this was concerning because she would go two to three days without eating - as she is also diabetic This is quite complicated -she needs to eat and she needs her insulin twice a day. A drug was recommended by our oncologist - an appetite stimulant-and the funniest thing was for two days our dog ate everything in our cupboards and fridge - Essentially overnight she became a voracious eater and it was almost humorous because we could put down almost anything and she would eat it up. So if your dog needs an appetite stimulant I suggest that you speak to your veterinarian because it works- as a matter of fact it works and works and works again😀

My cat just had his last electro chemotherapy treatment. He was in so much pain. He was screaming and I had to give him his pain medication. He looked crazed he was burning all over his body. He vomited all over and had to have diarrhea four times in a row. All night the pain. Then he drank so much water. Ugh. Glad it is his last electro chemotherapy.

Sons dog had his front leg removed because of osteosarcoma. He has now has his first chemo treatment. He said the dog was out of it yesterday. He could not get up to eat, just wanted to lay there. He did eat but laying down. His dog is not friendly with strangers..the vet had her give the dog his anti anxiety mends before they took him in. But I did send your links to him and they do watch your videos on cancer Andy our helped them make the right choices for Ben. Thumbs up from them...👍🏻👍🏻🙂

Thank you so much for this very informative video! As a dog mum of my poorly 11year old guide dog lab with mast cell tumor, I have been bombarded with so much info and so many decisions to make. I also have family and friends on the team chemo and non team chemo and its becoming difficult for me to relay the oncologists recommendations and why. So this is a great video not just for me to use in my assessment but for others to consider too. Thanks Sue! 🐾

Thank you! My cat was just diagnosed with high-grade lymphoma and my oncologist found it's likely spread to the spleen, liver, GI tract, and kidneys. He is showing positive changes in mood with Prednisolone, but now I have to decide if Chemo is an option. This helps because I was worried I was going to put a huge damper on his QOL, but I think I may try one or two sessions if he starts eating regularly again.

Thank you so much for this video and so many others. My dog is doing the CHOP thing and she has been sick a couple of times even though she is taking the anti nausea. On top of that she had seizures before cancer so she was on about 5 pills that she took happily with food but when she is sick and doesn't want to eat, it has been awful trying to get the pills down her. I was so depressed and sad when she got sick this time...I felt like something was wrong because she didn't get sick the other times after chemo. After watching this video, I felt hope and felt like everything was going to be ok. Sure enough today she is back to eating and taking her pills. Without You tube videos like this, unless you have experienced chemo before, you have no way of knowing so many things. We have a great Dr that has explained everything but I'm sure I just forget.

    Hello...
    My Bella was just diagnosed.
Had a biopsy of lesion on spine. It is a secondary to mammory mass which is primary.
Suggested had surgery and then either chemo or radiation.
Her vet leans more towards keeping her comfortable.
Hard decisions to make, just don't want her to suffer.

Please help me decide. My 5 year old english bulldog had a subcutaneous mast cell tumor removed from his front right shoulder area. They also removed the lymphnode as well. It was sent to a pathologist and came back as a grade 2 with a mitotic index of 4, and multinuculer cells. The lymphnode was clean no mast cells. We also had a ultrasound on the abdomen and no obvious evidence of spread. We were told it is not necessary but if we wanted to be aggressive we could do chemotherapy. It would be 1 dose of vinblastine 1x a week for 4 weeks and then 1x every other week for 8 weeks. Along with a prednisone tapper. Do you think it is worth the risk to reward?

The main side effect that my dog is experiencing is hair loss and skin sensitivity increased (she already has sensitive skin, so now with chemo it became worse). Also, her apetite is surprisingly good, despite her not really wanting to eat the not so palatable dog food sometimes. I do cook for her sometimes, and give her probiotics and a corticosteroid recommended by her vet. She is a Lhasa Apso and she’s almost completely naked, poor thing… very patchy as the Doc said, but she’s still my beautiful baby regardless of how she looks. I just want her to get better ❤️‍🩹

My cat who is about 13 yrs old has CKD and Large Cell Lymphoma in her small intestine. Her BUN and Crit were off the chart that they say about 70% of her nephrons are damaged. Is it worth it to start her on Chemo? I know you don't have values or anything of her reports but just wondering if you know a cat with CKD can be treated well with LC Lymphoma or not. Thank you in advance for any feedback.

However today (2 weeks into his therapy) he is crying in pain and looking out for cold surface to sit on. I'm not sure if this is because of the chemo but do you think this can be a side effect of the therapy, if yes can you please suggest what should we do. Looking forward to your revert.

Dr Sue, My dog will start chemotherapy. Doctors gave us two options. One is oral medication. Second, injectable chemo. Both are ok financially for our family. I just don’t know which would be best to go with, which one works better and won’t make my French Bulldog worse or weak. She’s 25 pounds, 12 years old and was diagnosed with hemangioma sarcoma.
I feel like the medication will not work that good but on the other hand I feel like injections will make her sick. What happens if the injections start to make her worse? Will they stop or give less doses.
    Any suggestions is appreciated.

When I give the drug her mouth foams I try to give her near her check it doesn’t help. I have to give all the drugs at the same time. Anti nausea anti acid steroids antibiotics because her white blood count is low. I found out she had big cell lymphoma on February 14,2020 she started enzymes February 27,2020 then week after chemo. This week she’s having utralsound to see if it shrunk if it didn’t I think I might have to put her down I’m depress as it is I was pretty optimistic when the oncologist said he didn’t feel the mass now he said he felt it. And she spit out the steroids pill which didn’t know I found it on the floor usually I crush it but she wouldn’t eat so I had to pill her. Now I give her oral medication and praying that I could give the oral more proper. I watch how to do it for some reason it’s not working well.
