  • Cancer-related fatigue is one of the most common side effects for people with cancer. This type of fatigue is not always resolved by rest, and it can interfere with daily activities. In this video, Dr. Richard T. Lee, breast cancer survivor Kate Zickel, and caregiver Brian Zickel discuss what people with cancer should know about cancer-related fatigue, including its causes, how it can affect quality of life, and ways to manage and cope with it.

During chemo I couldn’t even think about doing things. I thought I was being lazy. I slept a lot! Three months later I can at least imagine things I want to do and do some of them. I look forward to getting better and remind myself that I’m healing.

I am 4 years out. I am stage lll breast cancer. I battled fatigue before diagnosis and thought it would disappear after mastectomies! My blood labs are good. Thyroid good. I am an RN and had to do my own care plans. Fatigue is brutal. I am pushing through. Exercise and doing massages weekly!

I have the same problem. I was diagnosed with stage 3 HR+ breast cancer in March 22 and surgery in May. I had 6 weeks of radiation and I have never recovered from that fatigue. My labs look normal but I still struggle to do basic tasks 4 months later.

I have a rest in the afternoon....doesn't affect sleep at night, but helps....terminal rectal and lung cancer....don't forget to get 20 mins outside in sun, every day!

Stage 3-4 endometrial cancer with only 2 weeks palliative pelvic radiation.
I went Whole Food Plant based without added oils/fats.
Lost my excess 20 pounds easily. But 2 years since radiation and still Extreme Fatigue. Blood markers fine, but living with uterine cancer. Too big and too Advanced to remove surgically. 🤷‍♀️

I finished radiation and started hormone blockers for breast cancer. I was always active but now fatigue and sleeping issues is robbing me of the energy to do the things i need to do i can't seem to get the things i need to do done .

I’ve been diagnosed with early stage liver cancer. I have not started treatment yet which will be ablation surgery. A few months ago, I started feeling fatigue before the diagnosis. Is this possible or just some sort of mental issue. I also find if I do something like walking 3-4 miles, it takes me twice as long to recover. This used to be easy for me golfing. I would walk 18 holes. Now it takes two full days to recover. That being said I am 72 yrs old.

Im about to only go to doctors who've had cancer themselves. Some of these doctors act like the hardest thing they've been through was med school. They havent been through anything else and its so obvious when you talk to them. Thats not a person who can relate to you at all so why would i trust that person with my care?

I hear your point but would advise you to be open minded. Therapists in the occupational and physio sense tend to be more suited to cultivating that relationship with people
