Came for the guitar, stayed for the playing..beautiful
Thank you Ghair 🙏
Same here.
mate that playing is inspired - and with a tone to match!!!
Thank you so much man 🙏
You bring the beauty of that axe out with your excellent playing and shows what that guitar can do-marvelous!!
Very nice. I remember back in high school, my friends and I would make fun of Danelectros as we all fawned over ESPs and stuff. Now here I am in my 30's, all those guitars just look like boring old 90's metal guitars to me, and this Danelectro do be lookin' good.
Thanks Flips
Haha yeah - coming from a ESP Ltd youth myself im with you on that :D
I regretted selling a Viper 401FM a few years back. I didn't realize quite what it was worth. But I just didn't know what to do with an active pickup system and I don't like batteries. I guess I could have played Lamb of God or something, and if I have to I'll buy/find it back. It played great with D/ddario strings on it. Without the right amp the metal kit sounds like trash. These Danelectros seems really versatile.
Agreed. Did the same thing. Honestly, Danelectro hit me as cheap initially because their pedals were beyond terrible. I want this Baritone.
@@horstvazinksi3408 I actually used to have a Danelectro Grilled Cheese. It's one of the worst pedals I've ever used lol.
Exactly the same lol but I don’t think we can play Unholy Confessions on a Dano lol
I wanted to hear the guitar. But your playing really hit me. Man. Deep, amazing.
Excellent playing and tones! Subscribed
Beautiful playing, lovely feel, inspired and inspiring. Thankyou for sharing.
Thanks so much, appreciate it 🙏
Loved it.... had a great, nostalgic "Twin Peaks" vibe...
That’s a huge compliment. Thank you very much Ti.
Love the sound of the guitar. Great playing! Very inspiring.
really nice playing....am checking out the baritone you are playing.
Sounds great man, you know how to play to the baritones range, with more wide voicings so there isn't all the clutter that can happen from too close intervals. Nice man.
Just bought this guitar today (waiting for it to arrive) and had a look on here for some reviews... Ended up watching your video 3x times, great playing! Very creative and atmospheric!
You’re a truly gifted player and writer my friend! Absolutely beautiful voicings and chord melodies!!! So inspiring!
This sounds so relaxingly lovely.
✌🏻 🎸
I sit at breakfast, listen to your sounds and the day starts so effortlessly.
Awsome playing and tone..👍
Beautiful!
Came because I'm looking at buying the guitar, stayed for your playing. So good!
I love your playing man! There’s no much of this style around. I hope you don’t mind me trying to learn your playing. Very inspiring!
this was exactly the demo I needed to make me finally buy this
Man thank you for not doing the guitar thing, you know... the thing. Beautiful playing 💌
I love that chord shape in Drop, so pretty. This convinced me I NEED A BARI
Thanks man! They are loads of fun for sure.
Loved this
Appreciate it Jack! Long term subscriber of yours.
Excellent
Thanks Paul
this is sooooooo awesome :))))))
Really cool playing. Love it!
Thanks Sam! Appreciate it
My man this video is on my daily listening now ❤️ If you have any more original music on the web please let me know, outstanding stuff
I've got the same guitar. It has such an inspiring and immersive sound.
I agree - It really is inspiring to play. And man - I’ve played this guitar three days strait, and now coming back to a normal scale guitar, it just feels like a weird miniature haha
Amazing amazing. Can I ask did you consider the 56 baritone vs the vintage baritone? Not sure how much difference there is
Great sound. Getting my Baritone this weekend. Definitely gonna put it through the Lightspeed and Dispatch Master :)
Thanks Eric. Oh yeah! Hope you’re gonna enjoy it big time.
A fabulous sound😁🎸😁
Thank you Mick
Absolutely gorgeous everything
Thank you Vic!
Gorgeous playing and tone
Thanks Jon
Incredibly kind of you to say that.
You really bring this instrument to life, great job.
Thanks man, appreciate it! It’s a fun guitar for sure.
I’m becoming more and more interested in baritone guitars
Really great!! I have too many guitars but I think I need a baritone now!! ❤️
Oooooh...me too.
Gotta have at least one in the ol’ arsenal.
@@Ponchy yes, I got a Danelectro and I love it!!
@@Nappi1996 same!! I literally just got mine in the mail today. I got the black sparkle one and lovin it so far!!
Beautiful playing mate. Bravo 👏!
Thank you Dan. You are very kind.
I watched this video for the first time a few days ago. I've been back every day since to listen to your playing again. In particular, that tune around that starts around 2:04 (which has been stuck in my head). Would love to see and hear more of your baritone work. And thanks for sharing!
Thank you Cole, your kind comment have motivated me to make a part 2. Stay tuned.
@@ChrisEffort glad to hear it, Chris!
@@ChrisEffort I have also listened to this video 100+ times, you are a big inspiration for me
beautiful
Nice sound.
Thanks Stuart
C'est magique ! Merci
Hey man, loved this video! I'm looking at getting one of these for this type of playing, ambient clean stuff.Would you recommend? I seen a lot of reviews saying its quite badly made and is noisy? Thanks in advance bro!
I’m picking one up in Denmark St midday. Can’t believe I’ll be holding this gem in my hands soon. I’m even getting the cream colour. Just delicious.
Congrats Otis! It’s such a fun guitar! Happy new year to you
Beautiful playing dude, makes a baritone very tempting haha
Thanks man, I highly recommend getting one. It’s so inspiring to play a baritone.
please more video of this baritone
I love the sound your playing
Thanks Julien!
Yeah man, this is great! Cool playing, cool guitar, and cool color coordination!
Tusind tak Rasmus
@@ChrisEffort heeey du er dansker? Virkelig fedt spillet mand.
wow
Great musician
Thank you so much
First off, beautifully played. Secondly, how's the build quality of the guitar? I've been reading and seeing reviews saying that it's subpar. But the sound, man... I'm considering getting this 56 or the Gretsch G5260. Your thoughts? Thanks a lot
fantastic playing and tone, thanks for posting this. just a note, whenever you showed the panning shots of the guitar, you left the white noise audio from those clips in the mix. it took away from your playing with headphones on a bit, but not enough to keep my from buying one! thanks again
Haha what a rookie mistake. Thanks for your kind words Joe, really appreciated. Hope you are gonna enjoy the guitar as much as I do.
Now that's what you want to hear when you say the word "baritone" good job man!
Thank you so much
trop cool.
Lovely playing Chris! I just started looking at entry level baritones and your video opened up a realm of possibilities for me that spoke to both my interests in ambient music and weightier, lower resonances that I feel in my gut. Thanks for the inspiration!
May I ask, what made you decide on the Danelectro compared to the other baritones in the market?
I was briefly eyeing the Hagstrom Viking, but have reservations about how much bite it can pack with a humbucker/p90 combo compared to lipstick pickups. I was also eyeing a PRS 277, (which seems to be more... distortion oriented?), a Fender Bass V (too expensive) or a Squier VM Bass VI (but I might as well top up a bit more to get the 56 Baritone).
Also, how do the hardware and electronics hold up? Read bout how QC could be a bit inconsistent, pickups could use a better solder, input jacks/tuners could be more stable with them replaced... Any truth to these qualms i've read online?
Best regards from Singapore,
Rudi
Hi Rudi and thank you for reaching out.
I blindly chose the Danelectro because I needed a baritone that could give me jangly spaghetti western tones, which it really excels at.
I haven’t got any experience with other baritones, unfortunately. I will say, that the danelectro is perhaps not as versatile as some of the other baritones on the market, and I’m not sure I will keep mine, I like it a lot, don’t get me wrong - but the pickups are very low output, and the jangly nature of the guitar will always be present, I believe.
The fit and finish is good. I had to give mine a setup to make it play the way I like, but the hardware and electronics are absolutely fine, I haven’t had any dropouts or anything in that regard.
I highly recommend it, it’s very inspiring and fun to play.
Lovely. What tuning do you use?
Beautiful playing! You’re really convincing me to get one. It looks beautiful and your play is phenomenal. What tuning do you use?
Thank you very much! B standard and dropped to A if I remember correctly.
This guitar is excellent! What are the specs I can't seem to find a good page on that.
What’s the tuning here? Wonderful
instant "the last of us" soundtrack!
Thank you Eric! 🙏It means a lot.
Enjoyed the video! By any chance did you compare this (semi-hollow) guitar to the solid body version, and if so, did you notice any significant sonic differences? I'm kinda going back and forth.
Hi Mark thank you for your feedback.
I do unfortunately not have any experience with non “S” hole variant. But I don’t think it has that big of an impact on the tone tbh (on this type of guitar). I would go with the one you fall for.
Do they make this same guitar in a regular tuning model? I don’t have much use for a baritone. Beautiful playing as always Chris!
Yeah, I think the closest one will be the Dano 57. And thanks for your kind words.
Wow this is some outstanding playing.
Thank you Vic. It means a lot.
Hi Chris, is this a semi-hollowbody? The black model that's currently available doesn't seem to be so I'm confused. Thanks for clearing that up for me, I'd love to find a used one locally!
Yup, it’s hollow, a least the side where the ‘s’ hole is. It’s light weight and feels great. But mine was in a desperate need of a setup, but after that It’s a ringer!
Beautiful playing ❤️ Came for a basic guitar review but stayed for the music 🎵
Thank you Dave. It means a lot.
@@ChrisEffort Honestly so damn good! Would definitely buy any releases you put out ❤️
Gotta love that Dispatch Master 🤙🏻
Great pedal indeed. Sadly don’t have it no more, i’m relying mainly on my Flint atm, which I absolutely love more than anything else.
@@ChrisEffort I’m torn between the flint and the blue sky. I’m using the Dispatch Master and an Astral Destiny at the moment
@@yungstaben7675 sounds like you are covered regarding ambient verb then. The Blue sky is fantastic as well, but do you need tremolo? The flint does standard reverb sounds incredibly well, and will do ambient very good too, especially the 80’s and 70’s setting is fantastic for that. The blue sky will do regular reverb great too, but ambient fantastically. The trem on the flint is amazing, and I personally can’t live without trem, why that pedal is just the perfect pedal for me.
@@ChrisEffort thats awesome man. And I’m absolutely an ambient verb guy. All I do is big soundscapes and your ambient baritone playing was absolutely phenomenal. I almost bought one as soon as I finished watching! I may have to check the Flint out though since you speak so highly of it.
Amazing tone! May I ask where you found this color? It seems that only the black version is available now...
I plan to order this white version off Thomann said they are back in stock on Jan 28th, hope that helps bro
Hey there! Great video and playing, sounds I could get lost in.
Have you compared your baritone with the solid body version by any chance? I'm for sure getting a Dan Baritone but stuck between choosing the Semi-Hollow or the solid body. Thanks!
Thank you Bryan! I unfortunately haven’t any experience with the solid body version, but I’m not sure if it’ll make that much of a difference between those particular baritones. I’m quite confident they will sound and play almost the same - so I’d go with the one you lean toward the most, you can’t go wrong with either of the two models.
Amazing playing👍 I just got one as well. What gauge of string do you use?
Thanks man! I use 12’s. And congrats on your new guitar.
Are those original strings? What strings do you like on baritones? I ordered my first one . This sounds great. Is it going through a amp?
I think I’m just running d’addario 13s on this one. Great guitar!
Hey mate ! Such a great video :) i'd like to know your tuning and the strings you are using :)
Thanks man. The tuning is b standard with the low b tuned down to a. The strings are just the factory strings, so I’m not even sure which ones they use. But I’ve bought some d addario baritone strings I’m gonna try. Think they are called EXL158.
@@ChrisEffort thanks for the answer :)
@@ChrisEffort will a baritone harmonize with a regular guitar in standard tuning if they are playing the same thing
@@dominickl4456 Hi Dom, not if you play the exact same chords, but if you play in B on your standard guitar it will harmonize. A baritone (mine) is tuned in B E A D F# B, that’s a fourth lower than standard tuning.
You in B to B tuning? Sounds great - great tone!
Thanks man! Yeah B standard
this is the video that inspired me to get a Danelectro Vintage 56. however, mine is extremely buzzy. if i put a finger on the pickup, pickup selector, or input jack, the buzzing disappears but that’s obviously not a practical solution.
i’m assuming you don’t have that issue? your noise level seems very tolerable and at a relatively high volume.
Hi Stamos
Easy fix - don’t sweat. This is a pretty common issue with these Danos.
The 2 screws used to lower and raise the action on the bridge are where the ground wire is connected, it’s just gotten loose I’m sure. The ground wire is usually attached to the bottom screw, right under the bridge - it’s the one close to the high e string. Just get a q tip in there and make sure it contacts either the screw, or the bridge. You might have to take the bridge off - that requires to take the strings off, and removing the back screw behind the saddles. Then you can reposition the ground wire.
Help, I need the name of this genre!
I have this kind of music on repeat on youtube, but I want to listen to it on spotify. What kind of artists make this kind of music?
William Tyler - Highway Anxiety
I would love to have the tabs for this beatiful piece of music.
Thank you very much. If only I new how to make tabs. Haha
I can't believe this is not butter cuz it's smooth and tasty as fuck
Haha thanks James, appreciate it man
Great stuff! What kind of reverb is this.?
Thank you Zarko. I’m using the Strymon Flint. My absolute favorite reverb and trem.
Thank you for your answer. I just got my dean electro baritone 65 vintage guitar (just like yours) vintage white. I realized that the strings are very high and quite far from the neck (it makes it quite hard to play in comparison with normal El. Guitar).
Is this always the case with Bariton guitars because of the strings thickness? Can this be adjusted? Thank you for your time!
But can it play metal?
sorry if it's a stupid question but what's the difference with this one and the danelectro baritone bmf?
Hi Serena
The only differences are the headstock and the color. I believe bmf stands for
Black metal flake.
Holy shit this rules
B standard tuning?
Does it hold tune????????
Incredibly well actually.
Ex. Andrew Baena
Tuning>((?))
Just b standard and some of the tunes the low B is tuned to A.
came here for the get low thumbnail, didnt hear any metal.. left with sadness in my heart
You got low - so I guess it worked as intended. Thats great. It’s okay to be sad. Have a good one Rick.
Fortunately somebody playng clean and not djenting
Haha yeah, djenting is not really my style. Glad for found it useful sir.
Majestic sounds there sir
Doug McCombs must be quite unknown for most of those who praised you for being a copycat
Hi Jose
I have no idea what you mean?
Beautiful!
Thank you Nick.
