I just bought one! Thanks for the inspiration. Used, good condition. Bridge changed to similar what les pauls have. Maybe I'll post something here when I learn to handle it. The neck feels veeeery long. Sounds truly amazing.
@flooflox I second that. It's about time someone let the guitar do the talking; and actually sound GOOD. I love this demonstration. I watch it at least a handful of times every week or two. This really made me gain a huge interest on this guitar. Thanks for the post!
Wow!! For a simple oldschool danelectro, the sound can handle extreme metal fore sure!! One of the most versatile guitars i ever seen. And best demo ive ever seen
@Monstruobot Stock strings on a Danelectro Baritone are .013-.062. Probably the most available replacement strings would be DR Strings DDT's in .013-.065.
@golgoth131: Thanks! I played everything through a Twin Amp in Native Instruments Guitar Rig with the 'built in' tremolo effect. But a nice, slightly overdriven fenderish amp with a tremolo pedal would do too.
Just fabulous! Thanks to this video, I am prioritizing the Dead-on 67 Baritone as my next guitar. I'm trying to find a black one as well. Just love all the stuff you played. I can't believe that the amp is from Guitar Rig. I never got Guitar Rig to sound that good with my guitars. I like how you said "Stuff that you play when you try guitars." Those riffs are so cool, I've been practising them for that purpose too! Any word on string gauge? There was no mention of that in the comments. Thx
i am considering buying this wonderful model for my first guitar. i love the low pitch and your playing as well. what tuning is it in? what effects? this sound is perfect!
@EnvyInc Many thanks! Really appreciate the info. How come the same stock strings are not available for purchase? Because of this video I am still determined to get myself one of these babies, and checking my local Craigslist almost every day. There was a Cobalt Blue one available, but I'm holding out for the Black! Hopefully I won't have to wait too much longer.
@Spenc2010 For Metal Distortion I would choose a baritone guitar with humbuckers. Lipsticks and P90s are a bit too noisy and won't have enough output. I believe there is an ESP model that could work for you.
Great playing sir! Im thinkin about buying one of these guitars so i was wondering how well this guitar stays in tune? And if the tuning is tight from the neck down to the bridge, Hope you understand what i mean :-) Thanks Kenneth Denmark
@ploukusa A mix of both would be great. The Dano has more twang and the Sidejack felt more solid. Maybe the Sidejack with trem and new pickups would do best. I got my Sidejack second hand on Ebay, but they don't turn up too often.
I think you have really played this specific guitar exactly like it should be played!! I think one can create this feeling only with these Danos - but you need the right playing feeling and skills - very cool!! Respect!! Especially the first bit and the chords starting at 1:30... wow!!! And I love the understatement of having used the strings it came with and guitar rig... I am trying to find exactly this guitar for a while in Germany but seems impossible - now I am thinking about an Eastwood sidejack barritone or a Gretsch 5265... We'll see...but it would all be a compromise...give me a hint in case you want to sell it...
@Chamomileable That's B-B. I tuned down the low B one note for that 'country picking'. The strings were rather fat. But I've got no idea what gauges these were.
Hi ! Nice video, not talking, just playing, it's really nice ! I play in a alternative band (stoner and post-punk influences) and I was asking myself which one between this Danelectro or the Gretsch Jet Baritone should be better, because I want a guitar which can have a king of BIG sound for big chords as well as good distorsion sound. The Danelectro sounds great and I'm afraid that the Gretsch could be too mch vintage. Scuze me for the crappy english (I'm French), and thanks ^^
@RobMackenzie Thanks! I think as long as the tuners are good quality, the strings are not too old and the nut is filed well, you should not have problems with tuning instability. I haven't checked them all, so I can't tell which bari is best. Btw: NEVER use the vibrato of the Dead On 67! ;-)
@Spenc2010 What setup do you have? I would plug it into a Laney GH50L half stack or try a Vox Cooltron Bulldog Distortion between the guitar and your amp. I am sure it's amazing to play Stoner Rock like Kyuss style or some Nickelback stuff. Also you can plug into a Mesa/Boogie Mark IV an just listen what it sounds like. Anything is possible. What sounds good to YOUR ears????? Just try it man.... Keep on rockin'!
@snakeweirdo Stoner Rock.. That might be. But at the moment I don't know if this guitar is still in production. Couldn't find it at the NAMM show. Hurry, hurry! :-)
BTW, which one do you prefer, the Eastwood Sidejack baritone or this? I´m gonna get one for ridiculously reverberated western sounds. :) Definitely need one with a trem bar... there´s a 200e difference in price in europe.
@zedxxx9 Not sure if they use D'Addarios stock. Danelectro doesn't list what strings they use stock to the best of my knowledge. Most companies will put the cheapest strings they can find on a guitar to save overhead costs. EXL158's would be a step up if anything.
@zedxxx9 D'Addario makes a set of strings in .013-.062, but most stores I've found don't carry them. The DR DDT strings seem to be a favorite of the drop-tuned metal crowd, so my local stores seem to keep them in stock. You can probably order a set of D'Addario EXL158 strings in .013-.062 if the music store doesn't have them in stock. I just go with the DDT's because of convenience, and honestly, .003" isn't much of a difference to my fingers.
Okay, I must ask: How would these Dead on '67 baritones sound with metal distortion? I'm skeptical as to how a guitar like this would sound with my rig. Some guitars are just not meant to be plugged into certain pedals, and I know this is a 60's "surf" guitar, from what I keep hearing. I'm really interested in a baritone, and I would hate to save up for one of these and have it sound like crap through MY setup. Any feedback would help. Thanks.
hello such a sound§ what kind of amp are you use on the beguinning? i know it's guitar rig but i m interested on the overdrive Is i an amp overdrive? pedal overdrive on guitar rig or a fuzz. thanks a lot Loïc from France I have the same guitare and i search this type of overdrive
@RobMackenzie I just checked out your performance at the Tone Tubby NAMM both. I don't think the trem will do for you. ;-) That's a very, very nice version of Sleepwalk! I just got back a baritone prototype a Korean company did for me. I'm still not happy with the pickups but the guitar itself is better than the two baris I demoed here. I'll put on a new clip soon.
Oh god, I remember when the reissues first came out, I wanted to get one so damn bad. But I was a broke high school kid at the time. Now I can't find one anywhere...
@EnvyInc Thanks again! These days I buy most of my strings online from a company called StringsandBeyond (dot) com who are fantastic. Free shipping on orders over $35 to US and Canada. They have the D'Addario EXL158 strings in stock for only $6.99, so that's just fantastic. I'll order a set of those with my next batch. Are the stock strings on the Dead-on 67 actually the D'Addarios?
how much was this guitar, im trying to buy one right now ive ony played strats and i wanna do something new and get this but just curious to know what you feel about how it is or how good they are. thanks
very nice ~ what's the string tuning you're using there? sounds gritty like a long dusty road leading to all kinds of trouble I don't want to know but also do
@JUNIORxHENDRIX It sells for around 300 EUR here in the EU. The guitar is well made but the vibrato is very whacky. It feels a little stiff when tuned in B. But I only used the factory strings. Other strings might feel different.
don't know what's more cool.....that guitar or your style. Nicely picked Sir
Thanks so much!
I thought exactly the same
I just bought one! Thanks for the inspiration. Used, good condition. Bridge changed to similar what les pauls have. Maybe I'll post something here when I learn to handle it. The neck feels veeeery long. Sounds truly amazing.

Great I have been wanting a Dano baritone for ever time to get one!
That was awesome! I really love it. Ive heard this video at leat 200 since 2 years ago
grettings from Costa Rica.
Thanks! Thats very kind of you! Cheers!
@flooflox I second that. It's about time someone let the guitar do the talking; and actually sound GOOD. I love this demonstration. I watch it at least a handful of times every week or two. This really made me gain a huge interest on this guitar. Thanks for the post!
I like your style. Pleasure to listen!
Very cool playing! Been dreaming of a baritone... this might fit the bill. Sounds nice & vintage!
I really enjoy your playing! Very cool!
Wow!!
For a simple oldschool danelectro, the sound can handle extreme metal fore sure!!
One of the most versatile guitars i ever seen.
And best demo ive ever seen
I love your tone so much
this sounds absolutely incredible
amazing. I want to play that guitar with that effect right now. so dark! but! relaxing.
Great ideas and playing, thanks!
Great Job! Incredible sound!
@Monstruobot Stock strings on a Danelectro Baritone are .013-.062. Probably the most available replacement strings would be DR Strings DDT's in .013-.065.
@tapesandtubes Thank you very much! You saved my day! :-)
I love the way that guitar sounds, i think its those pickups
Bought fucking time someone actually played this guitar on here. I'm dying to get my hands on one of these babies. Thanks for the post!
hey those guitars have a cool sound and your style is really nice too! i think just because of this demo i gonna buy a baritone
hey! this was posted on my birthday!
@coolguitars thank you very much... and 4 the suggestions
@golgoth131: Thanks! I played everything through a Twin Amp in Native Instruments Guitar Rig with the 'built in' tremolo effect. But a nice, slightly overdriven fenderish amp with a tremolo pedal would do too.
I fcking love the first riff, and the overall sound :) dope!
@coolguitars
I think you're right, I watched some reviews of the Gretsch, and it's got a deeper and warmer sound.
Thank you :)
awesome dude ... if this works out seriously you're my hero
After 6 seconds of listening I preesed Like button.
can always instantly tell, right? :)
Just fabulous! Thanks to this video, I am prioritizing the Dead-on 67 Baritone as my next guitar. I'm trying to find a black one as well.

Great playing man!
i am considering buying this wonderful model for my first guitar. i love the low pitch and your playing as well. what tuning is it in? what effects? this sound is perfect!
Good job man, going to buy a danelectro baritone. I like this one, but you have a 1963 version, that one is cool too. Play some more (:
this is some good shit, nice work
Wish I could play like that ._. Really ,really great!
Bravo!
@EnvyInc Many thanks! Really appreciate the info. How come the same stock strings are not available for purchase?

Everything this guy plays sounds awesome
Not sure anymore. But I always loved the AC30 and the Twin.
What a cool guitar!
I have a video with this guitar distorted.. It sounds good to me, and the responsiveness of the pickups is insane.. It feeds back very easy.
I'm the 111,001 viewer of this past favorite! Or am I the 111,002nd? Still love it.
well, im 111.101. way cooler. XP
@weaselidiotu Thanks! That is a B tuning. Effects are compressor, tremolo and some funny pitch delays.
@RogueRotting360 That's a preset from GuitarRig with delay, pitch shifting, panning... almost everything.
@coolguitars thanks!
sounds good, man
@Spenc2010 For Metal Distortion I would choose a baritone guitar with humbuckers. Lipsticks and P90s are a bit too noisy and won't have enough output. I believe there is an ESP model that could work for you.

Thanks Kenneth Denmark
Wow, great tone.
@supermassivedwarf That's a preset in GuitarRig. Chrystal something. Basically a multitap delay with pitch shifting.
@ploukusa A mix of both would be great. The Dano has more twang and the Sidejack felt more solid. Maybe the Sidejack with trem and new pickups would do best. I got my Sidejack second hand on Ebay, but they don't turn up too often.

Thanks! Mine was sold quiet a while ago. I had the eastwood here later but sold that one too. Good luck! Sollte ich eine sehen, schreib ich dir. :)
@Chamomileable That's B-B. I tuned down the low B one note for that 'country picking'. The strings were rather fat. But I've got no idea what gauges these were.
awsome! would you share what set of strings you've used on this one?
Hi ! Nice video, not talking, just playing, it's really nice !

@deduhdee727 That was a preset in GuitarRig. A delay with some harmonics etc.

...very cool ....ive that exact same guitar ...but regular electric ....love it ....Danelectros are great "
.
This has to be the ultimate Ry Cooder "Southern Comfort" guitar.
the best guitarist in youtube...yea !!!!!!!!!
@MitjaShi Absolutely!
@kevinereese Even with rerular bass strings?
@zedxxx9 Thanks for the nice words! That were the strings the guitar came with. But I have no idea about the gauges. Sorry.
@coolguitars What's that eerie delay effect at 3:49?
Thanks for the video. How comfortable is the neck?
Great playing!
Love mine.
Thanks for your answer you use the crunch of the AC30 or the twin , that correct?
Are you using the NI Guitar Rig Interface? Great guitar, great sound, great video dude.
I was using a Motu Ultralite I. Thanks!
great sound bro
are these good for like grunge and alternative rock
@snakeweirdo Stoner Rock.. That might be. But at the moment I don't know if this guitar is still in production. Couldn't find it at the NAMM show. Hurry, hurry! :-)
Can you tune them in E like a regular bass?
Wow, heavy tone!! Totally the opposite of what I expected! Any idea if left handed versions were made?
BTW, which one do you prefer, the Eastwood Sidejack baritone or this? I´m gonna get one for ridiculously reverberated western sounds. :) Definitely need one with a trem bar... there´s a 200e difference in price in europe.
just wondering but what size screw (or type) go under the bridge for the lift?
@zedxxx9 Not sure if they use D'Addarios stock. Danelectro doesn't list what strings they use stock to the best of my knowledge. Most companies will put the cheapest strings they can find on a guitar to save overhead costs. EXL158's would be a step up if anything.

@coolguitars thx :)
Is this supposed to be the black one? I#M still not sure whether the cobalt blue or limey one is supposed to become mine. But it sounds quite cool!
Okay, I must ask: How would these Dead on '67 baritones sound with metal distortion? I'm skeptical as to how a guitar like this would sound with my rig. thanks a lot Loïc from France
I have the same guitare and i search this type of overdrive
Excellent riffing! I was thinking of getting one and I after hearing this I need it. What amp are you using?
Thanks! I used GuitarRig here.
@yotengonovia Guitar Rig 4.0 - Fender Twin Reverb with tremolo. Yes: From my computer!
@RobMackenzie I just checked out your performance at the Tone Tubby NAMM both. I don't think the trem will do for you. ;-) That's a very, very nice version of Sleepwalk!

how much was this guitar, im trying to buy one right now ive ony played strats and i wanna do something new and get this but just curious to know what you feel about how it is or how good they are. thanks
@foutupourfoutu No idea. It might get a little stiff, depending on the strings you will use.
@AuroraSunset This guitar is tuned B to B and I tuned down the low B-string one note for that picking thing.
this video makes me wanna buy one so bad
@Monstruobot I sold this guitar. No chance to check that again. But if I remember it right, these where the strings it came with.
very nice ~ what's the string tuning you're using there? sounds gritty like a long dusty road leading to all kinds of trouble I don't want to know but also do
can i plug a baritone into a normal guitar amp or i need to use it with a bass amp for the low frenquency?

is this guitar for sale ? i am so interested ... i can't find one anywhere
@flooflox Woah, thanks!!!
@tecdessus Yes. Almost every big string maker offers special sets.
that sound of Chet Atkins having downed a bottle of cough syrup
