EDIT 8-21-24: To be clear, you're right about women --- I am just pointing out that Joan of Arc was a 17-year-old maiden and religious fanatic who believed that God spoke to her and assured France's victory.
She was _of course_ not a warrior. She _of course_ never held a sword or any other weapon of war. Many people rallied behind her as a sort of prophetess, but she --- again, _of course_ --- had nothing to do with war itself.

It's about donning the outside wrappings of a character and entertaining an audience. It can be funny, dramatic or absurd. This is drag. Not the grooming of children. It is an art. In my mind, the epitome of human artistic expression. Living, breathing sculpture. I am fascinated by the ability they have to transform themselves ... into bugs, birds, furniture and movie posters, too.

I can't help but feel that all the trailblazers' work has been overgrown by fear of the executive and worship of the gold. The number of times I've encountered bad and incorrect change requests from clients, to be told by staff that, "we have to do what the client wants," and not considering the audience or the integrity of the material... It's frustrating and heatbreaking.
