    I'm a bit skeptical about this. if it is such a great innovative product, why aren't they making them currently for other truck brands? seems like a big waste of opportunity to get into the market and start making money. looking at the animated designs, I'm guessing they are unable to make a reliable working product due to the complexity of all the moving parts. how durable will it be when being used every day, from the wind and sun, to the nonstop beating of going down backroads. will it be insulated for 4 season use, or is it a fair weather only product? the animation does not show any fresh water or grey water storage space, and with the way it folds down the general storage area is VERY limited. water tanks take up a good chunk of space in a small camper this size. i don't know if for the pre orders you have to put a deposit down up front, but if you do that would be a red flag for a company that will close its doors to never be heard from again.

    • @Kent__the_Baker
      @Kent__the_Baker Рік тому +2

      No physical real world prototype on an ICE pickup is a big red flag. One of the features is being able to rely on the Cybertruck powerpack. So the ICE prototype would also need a portable generator. A question Elli could have asked is off grid how many days would you need the solar panels to charge to be able to boil that 4 ounces of water?

    Having traveled the whole country in a fairly small RV I can tell this one will be too small to be a fully functional vehicle to live on for weeks. It may be fun to have your belongings with you or to rest or maybe use the bathroom, if it's available, but people will quickly realize it is too small for your possessions and too restricted to call it home even for a few weeks or days. The fact that it collapses and expands in height means you can't use that space for storing anything, therefore you're very limited to what you can carry with you.

    • @tubularap
      @tubularap Рік тому

      Yes, I feel the same. I love the idea behind Cyberlandr, but a unit that only extends vertically does not give you any more floorspace. I think extension(s) to the sides are needed. Or maybe a foldout cabin that can extend fully when put on the ground. When you camp, you may want to venture out with only the vehicle, and leave your cabin at the camp. Their present design is nice for a day trip, but, like you said, won't do it for longer periods.

    For those wondering about Cyberlandr use. We currently travel in small class "b" van motorhome. The secret to traveling with a camper is that you live "out" of it, not "in" it, which mitigates the small size since you're mostly asleep when inside it. A close-by potty is wonderful at night too. We have a Model Y and won't be purchasing another ICE vehicle, so the Cybertruck/Cyberlandr will replace our van with little penalty to battery range due to it fitting inside the truck vault for no-drag aerodynamics

      Nonsense!!!!! How do you assume a truck is better than an van!? That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard lol…… you’re living a super spacious vehicle to have a truck with movable camper that goes know how long it’s even going to last! All those complex moving parts…….

    • @RB-pi3jl
      @RB-pi3jl Рік тому +2

      You just collapse the Cyberlandr into the Cybertruck bed, roll down the vault, and leave. This way you carry everything with you within the truck. No need to drive back to your campsite to retrieve anything (like with a trailer).

      @@DatTacoGuy And what if in the course of a day of exploration, you find an even sweeter spot? CyberLandr makes it possible to take advantage of those serendipitous opportunities and allow you to conserve energy while providing the best lifestyle experience. I think the days of anchoring yourself to a specific campsite will end with Cybertruck + CyberLandr. These owners will lean into the unknown a bit more while exhibiting more traits of overlanding instead of camping per se.

    Any camper would not want to move all their gear out of the way to fold out a bed. This would be ok if you set up separate sleeping arrangements such as a tent etc. what if yo have to get up at night for a drink or to go to the facilities. this might be fine for the rich, young an minimalistic recreational user. Not even covering the sleeping issue in the video says a lot.

    As with any Tesla vehicle, this would only be acceptable to me if I could wipe the software and replace it with a privacy-oriented FOSS alternative. Also, I would have to have a second one to harvest for parts because Tesla monopolizes the parts supply chain to make their customers eternally dependent upon them.

      @@FrankDTank-lf4dq We certainly agree on this point; it's one of the reasons we both believe Cybertruck will be so successful.
      You asked about the dangers associated with a powerful, but elegant and low-energy cook top and at our firm we have pondered this question for a couple of years now. There's nothing elegant (or safe) about propane and other cooking fuels. More important, it's difficult to leverage a smart system to avoid catastrophic mishaps unless the system is as electrified as the Cybertruck itself. One of the reasons Tesla is able to produce products that are elegant and a delight to use with excellent performance is the unseen compute stack. CyberLandr is designed in this same spirit - to make life a little better and maybe a little safer.

      The U.S. has always had 220 or 240 volt power - it's just that we only use it for a few major appliances such as ovens, dryers, and water heaters while we use 110 or 120 volts for most everything else. (The actual voltage has some wiggle room, so these voltages are nominal.)
