The quality of the prototype looks really solid. I am particularly impressed with how usable the design feels in regards to the spacious bed area that folds up and out of the way, and the modular (yet sturdy) panels that can be used in the truck in various configurations or out of the truck. Can't wait to see these things in the wild!
The way you just jump into explaining the camper right from the start is amazing. Unlike 99% of other videos where you have to hear the life story of whoever's talking. Thank you!
Love that the bed can be easily raised up to turn the area into a usable working space and also the stealth mode for the bed. Excellent design, very well thought out.
I love how customizable it is, Murphy bed and cook top option really bring it together! Shower, bathroom, storage space, Yes Please. Progress is amazing, I’m very excited😄
I’m not interested in the Cybertruck, but this camper shell could be made to fit many trucks, it seems. This is a groundbreaking design. Kudos to the design team.
I'm thrilled to hear about your innovative camper design! The concept of a quick and easy camper with versatile features sounds like a game-changer for outdoor enthusiasts. The specific and unique features make your prototype stand out. Well done to the whole team.
Hey Eric. Thanks for the kind words! We originally set out to build a $15K camper and ended up taking the quality route at every crossroad. While we won't be the cheapest out there, our camper will last a lifetime and be a worthy companion for the Cybertruck. We understand the sticker shock but are confident the price will make sense when we get some of these campers out for field testing.
@@spacecampers7963 So would a $15k price tag be something that would include the features you covered in the video? Such as insulated camper shell, etc? Or would those be accessories? $15k is a hefty price tag, but you gain the usability of NOT having to lug a camper trailer around and with the built “into the storage” kitchen, table, workspace, etc I could totally see the justification behind this. Thanks
Sorry we missed this@@HisNameIsGreater - Our base model camper is $24K and you can find what's included here if you're interested spacecampers.com/products/the-wedge/ We also have a waitlist going for our nonhinging truck cap which will be a lower price point option that works great for sleeping directly on the truck bed.
I like that you're not blocking the rear window of the cybertruck; I know it's sadly not going to have a folding midgate but I'm still hoping it will be possible to modify this aftermarket, so that the inside of the truck can be accessed directly from the camper, and we can use the AC. I'd much rather do a few yoga poses to get into the back seats than to go out in the rain! I would definitely value an indoor shower and toilet; one of the things I value most about my current RV is to be able to use these facilities conveniently, even if I'm in a remote location. I know the shower uses a lot of water and the toilet needs emptying, but I find that it's often worth the hassle.
Thanks for the close look and consideration, Jonathan. Agreed that it would be great if there is some sort of connection between the bed and read seat of the truck. The latest rumor is that the rear window will roll down, but who knows? Fingers crossed. The option to move the toilet inside is going to work really well with our design. When the bed is down, it can be placed below the platfom. This way you wont stick a foot in it while your coming down from the bed. The shower is a little more tricky inside since your bed will need to be up, and your floor will need to be clear. We're going to make this an option, but honesly it won't be very convenient given the tight space, and we recommend setting that up outside. One thing to consider is that you could also just shower inside the camper without the need for an additional enclosure. The bed of the truck will be able to handle the water. When your finished, you could use the AUX airline to blow remaining water ouside and do a final dry with a towel. These are all things that need to be tested once we have a truck, but they're some of the ideas we've had that align with yours. Thanks for checking us out!
@@spacecampers7963 The bed being up and floor clear sounds fine to me; the shower doesn't need to be much larger than one person standing up. My current camper (a Hymer B544) has a small shower like this and it's perfectly fine. Alternatively could it maybe go at the rear under the awning? It would be great to be able to shower and dress in private, if I'm camping somewhere that's not nudity-friendly. Also I'm happy to hear that you'll offer an insulated tent option; that would be my main concern with this design. I don't go camping in the dead of Winter but it's nice to be able to stay warm on a clear Spring/Autumn morning when the temperature is, say, 5C. (without using all my truck battery just to run the heating)
@jonathanmelhuish4530 We just checked out the B544 and that thing is sweeeeet! Definitely hold onto that one. Might be rough with gas these days, but it's a keeper. The insulated tent is a must-have upgrade for many people. We agree if you're out for multiple days it would be a shame to burn up your battery just staying warm. Since you're familiar with Hymer, have you seen the Venture S model? We're looking into making an inflatable tent like theirs that would add great insulation and pair well with the onboard air compressor in the Cybertruck. Nothing solid yet, but it may be the direction we head for the winter tent. Have you seen our 'explainer video' yet? It's more render based but it shows our plans to host the shower enclosure on the side of the truck. Your idea to have it under the awning is great, but it will not have a place to mount when the awning is down. We'll keep this in mind though and if it's possible to work a mounting point into that location as well, it would give us options!

Very well done! I'm ordering one for sure
you got a cybertruck?
Thanks for the feedback! Reservations are open for $100 down at www.spacecampers.com in case you'd like to put you're name on our queue
This thing looks amazing you literally look like you have thought of everything. Wish there was a double fly net cause then you could have the awning up and stop the bugs 👌
We've seen that request come through a few times, consider it noted!
Just reserved one! Just need a truck now 😂
Admittedly probably still a year out and hoping prices come down to the closer original pricing.
Would love to have someone from space campers on our podcast!
Thanks for the reservation and the comment! We'll keep in touch on all fronts once we're closer to production. Really appreciate the interest @GridConnections
I've never wanted a $100,000 camping trip more than I do now.
This actually looks awesome. Great job! Hopefully it won't be cost prohibitive and I can pick one up down the line!
“Cost prohibitive”
i truly hope you guys can nail manafacturing. thats the hard part. good luck. this is epic.
Thanks! We'll be giving it our all and have some great partners lined up
Cybertruck is best
This will be handy for people who decide to take their Cybertruck off road, and when they get stuck waiting for recovery they have somewhere comfortable to chill
This didn’t age well. The truck is out now and it kicks ass off-road like musk said it would
@@TomFlord u sure about that? so much press of it getting stuck and being pretty trash
@@JackInDaBoxx yeah, there’s countless videos to comb through now. My favorite one is the “wade-mode” where it raises itself 18” and seals the battery compartment and cabin so you can practically go underwater like during a flood. “Overland mode”, “Baja mode” and “rock climbing mode” can be seen as well.
@@JackInDaBoxx provide a link. I just watched a long ass video of two cybertrucks completing the Baja 1000 with ease.
Neat video. You guys definitely have my attention!
Thanks for watching!
It seems very nice.
