Videos like this where you get a quick layout of everything done and a visual aid as well makes for an extremely helpful experience without being too long. I will definitely be using this template!
Lovely home made box. All I need to do now is move out of my house and live in a fully stocked carpenters workshop, put a rug down and make it my home. Seems easy
Lol thank you. I’m over here looking up all of these DIY jewelry box videos and no one seems to acknowledge the fact that all of these videos feature full fledged workshops. Anything you found that’s doable for newbies with a basic saw, sander etc.?
@@elliotjohnson2904 Step 1: By wood that's already milled close to size. Step 2: Get REALLY good with your hand saws. You can cut any box / dovetail joints by hand. Step 3: Complain about how hard it is to do the joinery manually. Step 4: Quit and go drink a beer. Note: Any chamfers, roundovers, etc can be done with sandpaper. Any dados can be completely cleaned out with a chisel. Have fun!

Late to comment, I know -- are you worried about wood movement in the glued-in bottom? Or is the overall piece small enough that the movement would be negligible?
Laser hinges which work with blue light and a tractor beam type mechanism. Haven't been invented yet though. Probably a better use for the technology when it is but I'd like to see it utilised as hinges on a wee box
hi there I'm a sub new here and i really like video like this but can i ask you what are all the names of the hardwear you use specialy in 5:40 the lock and in 4:25 the back hardware i really need to know and i forgot the name of it, sorry and thank you 👋(^w^❄️ )💞
@@MrFixItDIY I posted earlier asking what type of finish and seen this. When you say "General Finished" there is soooo many ? Poly/shellac exc ? Great video and beautiful shop btw. Came as a guest left as a subscribe :)
I was so excited about this video until I started watching and realised I have none of the tools mentioned. Jointer, Thicknesser, Router blah, blah. Nope. Zero chance of me making this :(
Right? If you want to get ideas for projects that can be done without the need for a professionally-stocked shop, check out Wood by Wright or Adventures in T-shirts (eg) on UA-cam. There are plenty more too. Infinitely more satisfying watching (and learning from) real craftsmen, rather than watching wood going through machines
It will take some more practice before I could perfect making that plus the costs of the machines you're using is expensive for me to afford. At Lazada I could buy a more complicated wooden jewelry box with locks for less than $40.
@@davidlove1887 haha i don't need to be woodworker to critique anything or say my opinion about a boring box, same way i don't have to be a youtuber to comment on a youtube video, and i don't have to show you anything. sooo...

This is a perfect idea for making MTG deckboxes! Simple and elegant!

Really nice job. The zebra wood and walnut work well together. Thanks
I really enjoyed this build, not only the quality, but also your attention to safety. Great job.
Not sure this is a "how to", it feels more like an "I did". Still a good video.
Oooo.....don't go stealing that man's sunshine!! ....but so true
I used this to help me with a DT project. Such a life saver! Thank you. Xx

Great project that any body would love to receive I'm sure! The zebra wood is a wonderful touch!
Yeah I love the look of it! Pairs well with the Walnut! Thanks man!
Great video looks like fun to build 😀 going to try..I'm going to use black walnut and cedar...thanks again
I want to add a mirror to the bottom of the lid so I need a specific type of hinge so that the lid stays at 90 degrees?
Beautiful box.
Great B-Roll
Absolutely love it! 💖 You are amazing and talented! Thank you so much!
OK, so I need a box for my bird, lets start with buying a "carpenters workshop"
Be better building your bird a kitchen. Get more use out of it
Do you have plans for this project that I can download?
Great project and a beautiful box. Subscribed.
Great size for jewerly. About what dimensions is it?
Great Video. Question What type of finish did you use and where did you get your hardware. Thanks :)
Wondering the same, hope he responds. Mostly interested in the hardware
@@jasongonzales6278 I agree I hope he responds also.I'm interested in the hardware as well.
Love this box do you have plans and a cut list for it?
Awesome work! 😃👌🏻👍🏻👊🏻
Hey, what's that little gauge on the side of your thickness planner?
Can u sometimes tell us the measurements of the woods..
Do you think you could cut the lid off with a table saw?
Yes. I've also done that many times.
Cool bruh
Thousands of dollars of heavy tools
Nice
Do you by any chance have the dimensions that you used for this project?
Looks awesome =)
Late to comment, I know -- are you worried about wood movement in the glued-in bottom? Or is the overall piece small enough that the movement would be negligible?
I am not worried about it, no. You could do the same dado technique as the top though if you wanted to.
can you teach us how to make jewelry music box please?
Good video, just wish there was measurements
Yaaaaar give me this box
nice box but those little brass hinges and clasps always look cheap and nasty
What's your go to?

What did you finish it with?
I used Osmo Oil but if I did it again I'd probably just use General Finishes
Don't use old engine oil mixed with urine. I made that mistake and ruined many boxes AND special occasions when gifting them
@@MrFixItDIY I posted earlier asking what type of finish and seen this. When you say "General Finished" there is soooo many ? Poly/shellac exc ? Great video and beautiful shop btw. Came as a guest left as a subscribe :)
What is the width and length of this box?
Like the rest of the dude's here, I'm going to build her a box for all the jewelry I'm too cheap to buy.

Same. Spent an hour tapping a plank of wood with a screwdriver before I realised I'm a failure in life
You can do this with hand tools but it's time consuming and a much higher skill level is required. Easier to order something off Amazon 😁
Are you worried about wood movement with everything glued in place with the bottom and top?
Top floats in the dado. Bottom should be ok in the rabbet as there's a little room for movement
I thought the same so finished the box then filled it to the brim with wood glue. Wait 3 weeks to dry fully and boom, no movement whatsoever
can someone leave the answers of wood working for school?
I was looking for a DIY... and this came up... not helpful
What are the measurements?
12" x 8" x 4"
You shoulda done a homemade kinda handmade video not factory for the people that don’t have everything you got
There are projects on how to do this on the Stodoys website.
It will take some more practice before I could perfect making that plus the costs of the machines you're using is expensive for me to afford. At Lazada I could buy a more complicated wooden jewelry box with locks for less than $40.
I'm sorry you can't create anything. By the way, handmade personal gifts always rate WAY higher to anyone that matters. Good luck out there.
looks boring, too much advertising for a simple box, the video and the music makes me feel like you did a masterpiece that should be in the museum
Much like a museum, you can choose not to watch.
@@MrFixItDIY after seeing this piece of "art" i guarantee you i won't even walk past this museum

This is not a How-to Video! He will only teach you how novice of a wood-worker you are!
Too many tools.
