If you comeback to this area, try and come in late August. This is when the heather blooms on the North Yorks Moors and the entire area turns purple. It’s absolutely beautiful.
I love how you pick up on little British sayings like "cheeky" when describing your salad. What an amazing UA-cam channel to find and i'm happy you enjoyed experiencing British culture.
Bram Stoker discovered the name 'Dracula' in a local Whitby library. Captain Cook's ship 'Endeavour" was built there I believe. There was no mention of these in your VLOG. Did you not consider them significant enough to mention ? The weather you experienced was perfect weather for Dracula arriving in England !
Late afternoon in November is not a good time for tourist attractions. Most close end of September except for weekends. North Yorkshire is stunning generally, and the coast is lovely. Whitby is an old whaling town, and the surrounding coastal villages like Robin Hood's Bay, Runswick Bay and Sandsend (good surfing) are definitely worth the trip. Just not midweek late afternoon in mid-winter!
England isn’t ALWAYS bad weather - you’d think so from some of the comments here. England can have beautiful weather, hot and sunny .
No one bothers to look at the upload date. If this was the middle of July everyone would be saying "wow England has fantastic weather" ;)
To help other tourists, if you come to England in November it will be cold, it will rain every other day, it gets dark at 4pm and lots of stuff will be operating restricted opening hours. If you come in June it will be hot and sunny, broad daylight until 10pm and everything will be open.
should visit newcastle , northumberland , castles , abbeys, roman wall, very friendly people , near scotish border,
also holy island .
I've been following for a few months now. I've thoroughly enjoyed your videos. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you both! Take care and be well!
Yep. Most castles, ruins and chateaus in Europe are closed in the off season from October/November-March, or open only on selective day(s) in a week/month.
Whitby is my favourite place, if I could live anywhere in the UK I would choose Whitby, very olde world but still very much alive and kicking. Definitely go back there, try and catch a goth weekend or just a dry, in season weekend.
Andy Jones idiot
Whitby is beautiful shame its up north....
wouldnt be as charming anywhere else
If it was down south there'd be a Butlins slapped on it.
CarrieDoway goth weekend is the best time to be in Whitby the October one is always the best
Whitby is an old and well known fishing port. the last time that I was there I bumped in to some lads on a Cornish Fishing vessel !
What an awesome adventure! Thanks for sharing guys :) Always fun to watch!
It is worth noting that a lot of small seaside towns and other tourist places have very short hours and short weeks after October until March/April. Also in the UK in Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb you need to be starting your days out at 9am sharp as a lot of cafes and resturants close in the afternoon and it starts getting dark around 4pm (GMT). The weather in the UK in these months is usually wet, cold and windy with some snow in higher places and the occasional sunny day. Unfortunately our weather reports rarely get it right!!!!!
I can’t remember if you’ve been to the Channel Islands yet, but Jersey has a gorgeous harbour town in Gorey - right under the castle it’s all built into the hillside too 😊
Very amusing. You can find the same cold wet weather (with a strong wind as a bonus) even in summer, with people trudging around in their waterproof anoraks trying to find some place that's warm and offers a decent cuppa and grub. Been there, done that. Robert.
Sometimes the fail days are the most memorable ones. It sucks in the moment, but later you'll laugh about it.
Another Awesome video....I actually love the rainy, cold scenes....so adventurous. Thanks you guys...love ya both.
Love these two..
I admire how you both keep cheerful despite your disappointments.
Happy christmas!!! Thanks for all the great vids!
When the weather is dreary, you always need to find a cosy pub with an open fire
when you consider that you are roughly the same latitude as Moscow the weathers not too bad.
please set out earlier in the day to give your selves more time to explore.
Wow great news. Can’t wait 😊 merry Christmas to you both ❤️
Whitby :) As in Dracula's starting place into the UK :D en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitby
Jan Uzzell Exactly! As a result there's a thriving goth culture there. A lot of the B&Bs and amenities there cater specifically to the goth market!
Yep!
Bettie Bluebelle food there is soooo good and the history
Joordan ....I know, had the best fish and chips in Whitby ever! 😊
The Grand Tour tent was pitched in Whitby during series 1.
You should have crossed over to the part of Whitby which you looked across at and commented it was built into the hill side, that is where the old cobbled streets are! :)
My family had a boat at Whitby when I was young. I also remember a school trip to Rievaulx Abbey
Thank you for another great video. I live in East Yorkshire and have visited most of the places here. I love North Yorkshire and Whitby. Addicted to your videos :)
I didn't think it was a fail any day going on an adventure with you all is a great day
Lol have to say I loved this vlog! Everything that could go wrong did 😂 still turned out great 👍
I'm so pleased to see you got out of the cold and had some nice food as your day was not going as planned. I love Whitby, its a charming and interesting place, well worth a visit in nicer weather :)
Not saying anything this time;) Let's agree on that the UK hasn't been too kind for you guys this year. Glad you will revisit, there is so much to do over there. You can, for example, go by steamtrain through the Yorkshire Moors. Happy holidays to you.
Dudes cant wait to see you offroad this is gonna be awesome!
We gonna be like 🚙💨
Great blog guys...you had me hooked with your first video, love the mixture of scenery, commentary and food .
Thanks, Delia! Happy to have to adventuring with us :)
i dont live far from york in Leeds, that road through the moors is my alltime favourite driving road i adore whitby too. go there very often .
Good shots of smaller towns and countryside.
Bad luck all round.
Hope you liked the ales - English Real Ales are the best.
I'm a Londoner and I know how good the Magpie is! You should have got takeaway
Hey guys, just a heads up if you come back to the uk. The alcohol intake for driving is pretty low, especially in Scotland. Just watch what you drink, google it 😀 you can't drink anything and drive in Scotland and England won't be long until they change those laws too.. great Vlog shame about the weather though 🙁
awesome video - the views, incredible!
allisons favourite saying,oh boy.
It baffles me that people avoid going out and doing stuff when it's raining, Its just a bit of water :')
It's fine if you are a native or live in the region and can visit at any time or frequently. If you're a (mere) tourist from thousands of miles away who gets to visit a place only once in a lifetime, you'd obviously want to get some nice photos and visit in decent weather conditions. Try taking some photos with a camera while holding an umbrella (to minimise water droplets on the camera lens), not to mention you'd still need to use the same soggy shoes to continue on your journey elsewhere.
It's not just the rain, there's the matter of it being freezing cold as well.
I think these guys are in a slightly unique position that they can’t afford to get their camera wet, so they can’t really vlog when it rains.
Happy Holidays to you two!
Merry Christmas, Eric and Alison! (Gee, I hope I spelled your names right!) Thank you both for a wonderful year of travel and Endless Adventure. It's been a pleasure to vicariously travel with you both and your friends. You've taken me to many places that I can only dream of seeing myself. Your travel vlogs are truly a gift to the world, and I thank you for all you do. I know documenting your travels and filming everything makes it harder because I did it a couple of times. Once was just a trip to Disneyland for family, and the other time was for my son's fifth grade class. We went to Las Vegas while school was still in session and my son's travel assignment was a video tour of Las Vegas. We shot a drive down the strip and a lot of educational stuff at the Luxor. The kids in my son's class really enjoyed watching the video when we got back.
Tourism board will show you what to do. But Birmingham is a cool city. So much to see, and the peak district is beautiful.
Hope your Christmas day is going better, Merry Christmas guys!!
Guys you can park at the top at the abbey and walk down into town. The coastal path is fabulous. Sorry you didn’t have a good day xx
If having a bad day in England, there is one top tip that never fails;
Go to the pub! Pubs are ace and will always brighten your day. I love seeing you guys explore my country and hope you keep on returning again and again
Just saw your ending and heard you are coming to explore the midlands! :D
So exited
I know I said this on yesterday's vlog but I will say it again. Merry Christmas Eric and Allison and everyone!!
We live really close to Whitby and so sorry you didn't get chance to experience it at it's best. If you ever come back, you MUST try Sherlock's cafe - it's so quirky, you'd love it! You also do need to go to the magpie - world famous fish and chips. There are lots of lovely little coastal villages in this area too. Saltburn is brilliant with it's Victorian pier and Victorian life up the side of the cliffs. The Abbey is also amazing at Whitby. So much to do in this area of England. Enjoy your travels.
your UK vlogs are just epic! you guys should consider moving there
Move here?! Maybe because there are better countries in the world without the constant dreary U.K. weather, the U.K. rip off prices for most things, the fact it’s dark at 4pm in winter! These peeps live in a place with winter, but at least they have a good summer. America even though i’m a Brit who has been many times, is a fabulous country to live in. Have you seen their Thai vlog? Even Eric admitted he was sad to leave, they grew “very fond” of Thailand and felt at home. They seem much happier there. I’ve been Thailand, and if I could get a job there I’d move. I’ve been to Thailand three times and love it.
With weather like that i bet you're starting to see why so much of our traditional food is hearty and comforting :D Sorry your Whitby plans didn't go as you wanted, but I'm glad you got your wish fulfilled for Fish & Chips.
Wow York is such a pretty, cute town!
Can’t wait to watch the Birmingham series. Sounds like an unmissable adventure! 🤩
Yorkshire is very beautiful, I love Whitby, fish and chip there is one of the best, wish it never rained.
Love my brits! Love what y’all do!
Nice vid guys, have a great Xmas and New Year
Thanks! Same to you :)
I think we are used to walking miles to get anywhere over here in UK......and parking is hard at times lol , and stuff closes early too haha.
I live in that area (Scarborough) - it can be nice if you catch the right weather!!! x
It's pretty weird but awesome to see my part of the country on UA-cam, I'm from York but live in Pickering and I'm really familiar with all the old roads your travelling down. Seeing the Hole of Horcum, Whitby, Kirkham Priory etc, so it's pretty nice to see some the beauty of my home area :)
mrpaddyr: Why should it be pretty weird??
It’s still cool y’all do a good job I want see more and more
Many of these ruined ( Catholic ) Abbeys are ruins courtesy of King Henry VIII, who had the stone removed to build grand houses for those who wouldn`t say `no` to him. There`s one not 10 miles away from where I live. Its a thousand years old and would be as good as the year it was completed but for Henry VIII.
As an aside, it surprises me that no mention was made of Count Dracula`s alighting at Whitby.
You should come to Britain in the summer, it's light till gone 10 o'clock.
I am really getting a strange addiction to your channel... well played guys!
🙌
The sun sets so early because it’s crappy, dull, horrible, cold, wet and like you said Eric “dreary” winter in the U.K 😂
The coastline around Whitby is really worth exploring - and worth a night's stay e.g. in Staithes which is a really atmospheric fishing village at the bottom of a steep hill. If you park at the council car park (Scarborough Council) the ticket is transferable so we parked in Staithes, Runswick Bay and Whitby up by the Abbey for the same £6 ticket. I think the main car park in Robin Hoods Bay is also covered and that village is also a must see. Good territory for dramatic cliffs and fossils and very beautiful when not raining..
Oh, a transferable packing ticket? That's awesome! Thanks for the tips!
Planning our first trip to the UK in 2018! Thanks for all the good advice...cant stop watching these videos!
Hope you enjoyed as much as these guys did , that you went north and away from just the cities :-)
@@anndroid7413 we were in Mousehole, Cornwall and loved it!!
Merry Christmas
Fish and chips looks delicious
U should visit derbyshire....quite rugged area loads of outstanding scenery and lovely places to visit...alot untamed as it were....u can just park up and go for a wander see wat u come across.
Also, you guys should have had a look around Helmsley after Rievaulx Abbey was closed, Helmsley is an awesome place with some nice eats and a castle.
I grew up round those parts - there used to be an unofficial back way into the Rievaulx Abbey grounds when they are closed. Failing that, you can get some beautiful views of it from above, from the Rievaulx Terraces.
You could have also checked out the unreasonably picturesque Robin Hood's Bay, which is just along the coast from Whitby. Given the weather, it probably wouldn't have been as crowded as usual.
why no York minster...the jewel in the crown of English cathedrals??
Phil Holdsworth it's both a cathedral & a Minster
That would be Durham Cathedral, a World Heritage Site, up there with the Taj Mahal / Pyramids etc.
You have to pay to go into York Minster. Durham Cathedral is free, and there's loads to see in the town. A beautiful old university city.
@@neuralwarp There are streets in York that have more to see than the entire city of Durham.
Sorry but Winchester Cathedral is the jewel in the crown
ahaha you guys love your fish n chips!
I know this is an old vid but i haven't watched you guys in a while and as a Brit i always liked your UK vids best. So i was just looking back at some old ones in York and Cornwall and stumbled on this. I have said this before on previous vids but honestly you should seriously consider Lincoln next time you visit the UK obviously when we get back to normal but great history great pubs great food seriously consider it. Also just a point on this vid what you said about it being the wrong time to visit Whitby although pubs and cafes are often open all year round most seaside resorts are seasonal so you really need to visit them between May and October to get the best experience. hope your back doing what you love soon guys.
I love Yorkshire, but you should also come to Northeast England Next Time - Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, Durham! We have lots of beautiful sites such as castles, cathedrals, Abbeys and some of the most beautiful landscapes in Britain. Plus we are known for being some of the most friendliest people in the Country :)
Guys !! You tried to cover a lot in a day - you could have spent a good few hours at castle Howard - never mind the race to reivaulx and Whitby ! Seriously , that part of Yorkshire is stacked with amazing places ❤
Fail or not, I enjoyed it :) keep it up!
You sometimes get days like that. It usually happens to me when I psyche myself up for something and the place is closed for a random reason.
Should of gone to magpies and done whitby abbey as well but been prepared as the weather changes so much during winter!...weather across t’moors is famous!. If your still near york, you’ve gotta go to the york roast co to experience an yorkshire wrap!...it’s been a genuine viral video with over 60 million views....final note Yorkshire tea will help sort you out through any weather! Also NYMR railways to whitby from Pickering is great....you tried hard for the right places! Unlucky but it’s not worth a fail!
I like that you are traveling in the winter in a northern environment, short days and all i like seeing it and if you get your timing right the dusk and dawn lighting is amazing at that latitude
Peak District is the best place in England. I live just on the edge in Stocksbridge, Sheffield. Make sure you visit Castleton and Edale. Maybe Buxton too.
Going to whitby and having fish and chips in a pub is SUCH a shame, amazing fish and chips there
dont know why but your vids always remind me of the tv show "the trip"
Alexander's fish and chips is just down the street from where you ate and it's the best, it's the only fish and chips I go to when in Whitby, great film guys just a pity it was not the summer or during the Dracula weekend when you visited
Dracula weekend? We're putting that on our calendar asap!
Loving the films
Merry Xmas guys
Glad you guys show the downsides of travel. Its not always perfect, and things don't work out sometimes. But, I like your attitude, and with that type of attitude a bad day can always end good. Love your videos.
LOL that seagull turned on you and said, "Raise up fool, raise up!"
still an awesome video guys :)) ..this weather is pants but you get used to it lol ..think it might just be the wrong time of year to visit places due to xmas and stuff
This is like where I live. When the sun goes down the clouds go away!
You'd be much better off coming back to the UK in the summer, better weather and longer days. I live in the UK and when I holiday in other parts of this country I tend to stay 9 days too two weeks, that way if you do get some days of rain (which even in the summer is pretty much inevitable) you still have plenty of time left to do stuff. Always good to look-up indoor things to do for those rainy days.
For future reference you guys need to see north Wales, excellent walks and lots of castles.
Max Barsby Two weeks is a bit excessive.
Looking forward to Brum, ,my old town :)
You were misinformed regarding fish and chips in whitby. Trenchers is the only way to go. You two are great by the the way!!
A real shame you hit Britain in the winter.....and without thermals. Past few years summer has been early
Hey guy's Merry Christmas to you both. While watching your latest Vlog I heard you are entering my neck of the woods aka Birmingham and the Black Country. As soon as you mentioned off-road driving I thought to myself ah! Landrover Experience. I that is where you are going, you will love it, I have never tried it myself but I have friends who have and said it was an excellent adventure especially this time of year and while your in Birmingham please check out the science museum. I remember going to the original Newhall Street location on a school visits more than 30 years ago. But I hear their new location is gives a far better experience. Anyhow keep them Vlog coming Adventures and thank you.
If you ever come back to York, please do get in touch. I would be more than happy to give you some places to visit and explore.
More, more Yorkshire!!!! Travel Safe!!!
Aww...such a shame. See Boggle hole, Robin Hoods Bay, and search for fossils at Sandsend. Try Staithes. Frank Meadow Sutcliffes Victorian photos of Whitby are renowned. The Abbey side of Whitby is the more dramatic (houses huddled to the cliffs). You must go back when the demons of misfortune are themselves on holiday! :)
Published on 25 December, but when were you actually out? The 24th?
Whenever, I'm jealous of you being in Whitby. It's a favourite place of ours but we only get to go there in the summer.
I love your vlogs and your attitude to wherever you are. If places are shut you don't complain, or say that "England sucks!", you just shrug your shoulders, smile, and move on to another venue. Your minds are open, you embrace differences, and are always smiling. You are utterly welcome here!
Jeff Jeffery more like November 24th, follow their Instagram stories for live updates. Think they're in Miami now?
They are a month behind on vlogs
'Fails can be the best vides. The abby looked amazing and the bay was really interesting. I would have loved having that fish and chips and the hunters chicken. Good job guys.
Thanks so much! It was definitely still a beautiful and delicious day :)
