Loved this interview. I'm an AU/RO dual citizen who lives in AU, but I always think of leaving AU for a new life in RO countryside or somewhere else more free. Glad to see this guy was able to achieve it, very happy for him, very inspiring.

He's spot on with the freedom bit - in UK you can't do shit either, and I'm not talking about some "bad" things, but fairly basic, like camping, or like RR said - building a house Virtually all houses are built by large companies - they're expensive, ugly and poor quality

We're working on a project and accompanying videos giving people real options so they can relocate here safely and cheaply without getting scammed. Once you know what you're doing Romania is a great place to have a base. Watch this space. :)

I use to live in NZ and I it broke my heart to see farmers struggling to pay loans and state of the art farms going bankrupt due to high maintenance costs, labor costs, interest rates etc. Kiwis and aussies farmers would be dreaming to have the same subsidies UE provide for its farmers.

Thank you brother RR. You are doing interesting work with your video presentation. This farmer's success is the family connection to the land and farming as life and business. I think we'd all love to be as talented and fortunate as he. What is very curious is off grid living and the cost and means of building new property. Like Italy there are abandoned villages. I heard instances where land and property is given away, but only for Romanian citizens who will occupy and remain. The prospect of retirement planning in Romania is very real. I hope to share a glass of that local plum spirit. Cheers!.

Great job on this video. The only thing is, the more people immigrate in and the more population influx, the more likely rules will be added; it happened in Hungary, where my family is from. You get too many foreigners buying up land so the gov't made it so no foreigners could buy land, and some zoning restrictions were added in place because people were selling their lands to corporations who were making condos and less family homes. It definitely gets messier once the world knows that a country is a good place to move to.

@@randomromania hello again. Alas, I wish I had alternate solutions, and if I did , this would have to be taken up with any potential government entities within Romania, however straightforward or corrupt each town government may be.
What I can tell you is that in Hungary, to farm a large farmland, you must be able to take a rather complicated test about farming procedures IN the Hungarian language, and this seems to weed the "foreigners" out. It does become understandable that the country tries to keep most of it's land for it's own people, or then you get issues such as in New Zealand where rich Americans and Japanese have bought up ridiculous tracts of land, thus raising the rates per acre/hecatre due to demand, and making it almost impossible for the average NZ citizen to own land, much less the high rates for simple home ownership.
I certainly look into any probable solution, but not sure if I would find a practical one. And certainly would love to collaborate with you but currently I am not in Romania, due to return to Romania and Hungary in the next couple of years. All of my "intel" is from relatives in the area 😉

Actually the law is very clear in regard to "extravilan" land. You can obtain permission to build an "agricultural anex/anexa agricola" usually a strorage place, however to storage place may have a living space as well. Well...the law as such is not strictly enforced, however is not worth investing a big amount of money for a building which will never be registered as a house and which can be demolated as a result of a legal action...a possible scenario if you have local enemyes or if the local authorities don't want you there...far example if you represent any kind of unwanted competion for a local boss. Gold rule...before buying anything make sure you know the local environement.
